The only mistakes in his technique are the leg spreading and dropping the weight and starting the next rep instantly instead of taking control of the bar before the lift.
pitkamaki has the scope to go bigger i.e 93m+ but he needs to sort out technical problems, when he comes into a hard left and cracks the jav threw the point and gets some vertical velocity it goes along way. hopefully he will put critics too rest
Seriously guys. Tero should do something to his weightlifting technique. Those lifts will cause major injuries in the future!! He's not even wearing weightlifting shoes -just normal running shoes.. Dont get me wrong, he is great athlete and powerful as well, but really jerk technique is just crab.
his legs are almost impeccable are you serious? look how forward his right foot is in his penultimate step then how much he pushes with it to get his hips forward, he has a very good plant leg with just enough flex to not make him pike at the waist and he has a very good left side block
actually technically tero is awfull. dont think his technique is good because he is who he is. tero gets were he is through that cannon of a right arm of his. if he didnt throw so high he could throw a very very long way. i am a fin so it is hard for me to actually say he has bad technique.
I wouldn't go as far as to say its aweful. In fact, I wouldn't say that at all. You cannot throw 90 meters with his arm, he ain't greer, hah, who still had technique going there. Tero is fast and gets his body into the throw. Just watch some of the slowmo videos of him. Its very personal style, something I don't think anyone could really duplicate. But no one throwing that far has bad techninque, beacsue they throw that far!
ok maybe i was being a bit harsh by saying his technique is awful but it still does need alot of work. he does get his body into the throw i agree but tero dosent seem to hit threw the point of the jav. he wraps an awful lot. if he hits one clean threw the point of the jav and everything connects well i think we could see a 93+ throw.
Im a discus and Javelin thrower in México, and let me tell you Honken, that Tero lift weights just to gain power, he is cleaning 150kg easily, nowdays he es the best in the world, are you the best in weight lifting righnow? I guess NOOO, Is incredible how ignorant can be the people Honken, if you were an Olimpic man, you must to write with respet from an Olimpic Champion like Tero
I realize that he's lifting to improve his power; that's the whole point with OL-movements as a complement to regular strength training. I never said anything to disrespect the man and I appreciate his skill, however that doesn't change the fact that the form he has on his lifts is that of a complete newbie, even though he has strength that surpasses it.
Don't know why people find my comment offensive when I'm just stating facts.
@nordicairglider It doesn't matter if he can throw 90m with the Men's Javelin... the point that he just made is that Tero's clean technique is terrible... which it IS; yet you insist on making a comment which has no relevance to the statement what-so-ever. If Tero's technique was better, he could lift more, get stronger, and throw farther.
I don't know how that is even remotely comparable considering that I've never thrown a javelin in my life, no. Still doesn't change the fact the his lifting technique is that of a novice, something which is unexpected from an elite athlete.
It's about his back, not about good looking. It seems that it is not the best technique but the back seems to be in a right position. That is the most important with this weight.
Well i'll hope you are right and mayby fixing it would help Tero to throw longer. But i'll think it's not the case in here. At that level of competition it's hard to believe that they're making some kind of mistakes in training and taking hazardous risks for javelin throwing..
That clean is NOT specific to javelin throwers! This is a classic mistake that many athletes make in an attempt to get under the weight. As a throws Coach and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, trust me when I say this is not the proper technique.
i had bet with my coach that Tero will throw 95m....
but today i can bet that he will not throw 90m anymore... :(

you can have not perfect technique and throw far, they just end up with more injuries which is very common in javelin.
