  • If this was meant to be funny, then it is not. The boy is trying his best to learn a foreign language. Let's see if any American or whatsoever can speak Chinese properly. Cheers for the boy. Good job!

  • learning a foreign lang is a struggle for everyone initially , we shd appreciate the person , not to discourage them.. i really appreciate the kid...

    World Citizen, netizen of India.

  • If you find him funny, then try speaking in Chinese and see if anyone from China laughs. Same theory applies.

  • 很好. Good effort and he's still young too. He'll be fluent if he keeps it up.

  • Amricans should also learn other languages because its not fair that the rest of the world has to learn English, and when people go to other countries they expect them to know their language and i'm not racist but this happens mostly with America.

  • He's done very well, considering the situation he learned.

Language Bridge is offering free use of it's software to learn how to speak English. For more details

  • he studied English in rural China and he should be admired because of the hard learning conditions there. Hope he can keep on working hard on English.

  • he is so cute

  • Adversity builds character, often the most influencial people are from the worst learning/living conditions. These people holds no supernatural abilities, but their sheer hunger and determination to succeed is truly amazing to me.

  • this kid has no idea why he learn english and why he is being recording.....

there are too much of stories behind this cam

  • Can someone tell me wat hell he was talking about?

    Really don't understand

  • Awesome effort!! Maybe someday I can come and teach English!

  • What's he saying?

  • I'm touched by his attitude!! I learn a lesson from him, never give up no matter how bad the situation is. Actually I'm facing an obstacle of language. I can't speak fluent english and feel very unconfident and always in bad mood..but now i'm healed!

  • Great Boy! I proud for you.

  • sad to see this , there are still lots of poor ppls in China, things should be changed and improved

  • lol eat the buddha

  • test

  • It appears that young people are learning English at many levels since the goal is to be more effective in the Chinese culture. The background shows that the boy is living in the countryside and you can hear the roaster crowing as well. This boy appears to have learned at an early age that English is a very important tool to master since he will most likely be trying to improve his family's economic status. Now compare this to what American kids are trying to learn;

  • As an American and an English teacher, I have no idea what this boy is saying. I thought he was reading in a foreign language. It was only after reading the comments left by others that I realized he's trying to read in English. I do commend him for his effort but he needs a lot of work because this is not at all intelligible to the native ear. But kudos to him for having the enthusiasm and courage to read out loud while being video taped. Best of luck to him.

  • @dylanpitt You have no idea what condition they have there in very rural part of China. How can you expect some Chinese kid who's just a beginner to sound intelligible to your native ear? A lot of Chinese still can't understand some international people who have lived in China for years.

  • @niamhw927

Oh darling, if you read my comment carefully, I specifically commended the boy on his effort. If you failed to recognize my praise, perhaps you too are need of instructional support. And yes, I do have knowledge of the conditions of rural China. I've taught in several developing countries and for many years in each, including rural China. My former Chinese students sounded just like him--unintelligible but I've always commended them on their efforts as I had did to this boy.

  • @dylanpitt If you know that, you should have said anything about that little boy being unintelligible. I don't think people need you to point it out for them. Why didn't you say something like just try a little harder on the pronunciation instead of using the word unintelligible and saying something about you didn't know he was speaking until you read the comment. I wasn't ignoring your appraisal. But you seem to be pretty harsh on him.

  • @dylanpitt you are a nice guy. I am chinese and now study in U.S.A. Maybe, you can not image what conditions in rural part of china. It is very bad and needs to be improved. Many chinese students from Tsinghua University, the best university in China, go to US for further study. You could see some of them has bad spoken english and terrible accent , even they are good at their major. I think the major reason is that they do not receive good english education when they are children.

  • @suhang1984 I'm Korean. My mother told me the brightest and the smartest over achievers academically are from the poor. Rich kids just learned how to control and oppress people with money and powers. People who has nothing can focus without distractions. Rich people cannot focus because they are constantly distracted.

  • cute...I agree with BURRhypopo...i eat a buddha~ XD LOL being clumsy for me is being cute~ kawaii~

  • I wanna cry... but I don't know why...

    nice try boy~

  • honestly, i dno what hes saying

  • Comment removed

  • he said milk as milke,

  • so sweet...good job, you will learn fast.

  • I love that kid, go him!!!

  • aw he's cute.. i like his smile at the end of the video.

I think I heard "eat noodle and drink milk" and "I never drink coffee".

  • haha seriously , nice try! keep it up :P

  • Okay, I don't mean to mock him or something, but I really have no idea what he's saying.

  • oh i see. so people like you are called dogs?

  • LOL at ur engrish

  • Dude , calling asian people chinks eh ? -.-

  • he says you're gay and retarded

  • were did he get the camra frm ?

  • Please be kind when you comment on his accent or something. The thing here is not whether he speaks English well or not, but the conditions under which he's tring to learn a foreign language could be how hard. In many rural areas of China, they even don't have safer classrooms, not to mention foreign teachers who can teach them spoken English.

But they work hard. And the parents think education is the only way to change the poor life of their children and themselves.

  • @dustatdusk

    是啊 不知道多少孩子是在这样的条件下学习的

  • Thats good, not many people his age has that type of learning ethic.

I agree with james4wild its a admirable trait.

  • he is trying, and i admire that!

so he's just not represent all the chinese kid..

may be we can watch the video in another side.....

chinese kid is really hardworking, they desire to learn!!

  • You're defending Chinese people. It's true, but more than half of the Chinese population are below the poverty line.

  • more than half ????

That is true 30 years ago......

  • LOL..that's neither english nor mandarine..

  • but they can comprehend it no? i mean the pronunciation is really different for them D:!! poor kidsss D:

  • is he speaking english ?

  • every kid in china wants to learn english, actually they just want to study something, but the situation is that some guys are broke, and in some areas, there are even no classrooms for those guys. So you native english speakers do not understand what is the video telling...its not about how suck this guy speaks, rather how hard a kid has so strong will to learn english, he just can't.

  • they study extrimely hard even they dont have good enough education, in other words, people are poor in china mostly.

  • so you can image how pity we are. we, chinese students have to learn english since about 5 years old...sometimes i really want to ask the authories why ??

  • Are you kidding? You're lucky! English is almost an international language. You can speak to many, many people from different nationalities using English. Because you learnt English from about 5 years old is the only reason I can understand you, and you can understand me :)

  • everyday, usually when I come home from school,

I never drink coffee, of course.

  • chinese who come to my country are very hardworking. i remember this article which wrote about some chinese students who, in order to catch up with our english here, acutally memorised the whole dictionary although it's not always useful i still think they are hardworking and deserve some encouragement. way to go! =D

  • keep up the work! youre getting there.

  • Wow fuck face He's doing good better then my siblings when they came to Canada

  • I feel proud of this student! And I am a Chinese American living in the U.S.A. since I was 8 1/2 years old. I have grown up now; and working on my 2nd college degree. This young boy has the inner strength and commitment to study, given the place where he calls home.

Through difficult adversities, leaders and heros are made; Microsoft got started by a college drop-out.

    John

  • uh i didn't understand any of that... but hey practice makes perfect...he should practice--A LOT.

  • keep learning, you'll get it!!!

  • ahahhahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • i bet you cannot even say a single word of chinese, fool

  • thats bad to make fun of any community or country .....one should help people in this world to come together but u r making it tough

  • hey fuck you, this boy doesn't have much money because you can see that he lives in the country side, and at least he can speak a little which he learns off without any tutors.

  • so please tell me what the "last chinese word" made you think this is a faked video? i'm from china and i don't think it's faked. that is the reality that many kids in the country are too poor to access good education.

  • so true, schew

  • Do you guys realize that English is actually the hardest language to speak? But yet all you stupid white boys and shit can't even speak one Chinese word without butchering it.

  • english is fucking easier than french and chinese

  • Go read up on it dumbass... French is easy as fuck.

  • All languages are equally hard to learn after a person is 7 years old! lol

  • but i think english is much easier than many other languages, such as chinese, japanese and german

  • not really,if you PINYIN, you will know how to speak Chinese, and the PINYIN is fixed...but if you wanna learn how to writer Chinese, it is much much harder
