I think Dana is right and wrong about WMMA. The problem is that the focus is on the weight classes of 135 and above. The pool is so shallow at 145 that Cyborg almost can't even get a fight. Their just aren't a lot of women who walk around at 135 pounds or higher, even athletic women. I think shifting focus to the lower weight classes would result in a larger pool of good female fights.

Dana is 100% correct! I watched PRIDE back in it's prime and Fedor was one of the best, no doubt! He was fighting some of the best fighters in the world and was destroying them. BUT there came a time close to the end of PRIDE where he stopped fighting top competition. His first real contender fight since the PRIDE days was Verdum and he lost. People need to stop and realize that he is past his prime. People need to stop thinking Fedor is some mythical creature.

I think Dana is right and wrong about WMMA. The problem is that the focus is on the weight classes of 135 and above. The pool is so shallow at 145 that Cyborg almost can't even get a fight. Their just aren't a lot of women who walk around at 135 pounds or higher, even athletic women. I think shifting focus to the lower weight classes would result in a larger pool of good female fights.

@Ryan803 the gsp vs shields fight barely went on the ground at all, i was for one very dissapointed cesar gracie students are deadly from any position on the ground, and shields was one of the arguments for top p4p before the gsp fight, now that gsp wins shields is all of a sudden a scrub? belfort is very good but never said to be even a top 10 p4p in the world and didnt get to show what he was made of in that fight, i know the spiders great but dont jump on the bandwagon yet

99% of Fedor fanboys NEVER watched him fight in 2002/2003. They ONLY know him from his title reign 2005+
When Fedor fought Nog he was the UNDERDOG. He got OWNED by Arona in Rings.
It wasn't until 2005 (TUF 1) when the Pride fanboys blew up campaigning that "cool kids" or "real fans" watched Pride and people got into Pride with Fedor myth and CroCop highlight reels.
He ALWAYS had trouble on his back vs guys who could control him from top. Arona/Hunt

He has no problem with wrestlers... I doubt Silva will retire with the MW belt, somebody will beat him eventually... but he's still the greatest of all time.

people used to say that about Fedor not long ago, Fedor 31–4 & 1 Silva 30–4 on paper very similar there, The big differece is, Silva is on a 5 year winning streak, call me when its 10 years which is how long Fedors was.
The simple fact is, Silva is a counter fighter, his strikes are dynamic but he is only an interesting as his opponant, so if his challanger doesnt walk into a kick then they have a stare off

But he couldn't take Silva down so it was pretty much just a stare off the whole fight... but that was Maia's fault, not Silva's. Fedor was great, no doubt about it... but now-a-days he's too wreckless. He beat himself in those last 3 fights... he gets overzealous & gets caught. At one point in time, Fedor WAS the best HW.

Dana is 100% correct! I watched PRIDE back in it's prime and Fedor was one of the best, no doubt! He was fighting some of the best fighters in the world and was destroying them. BUT there came a time close to the end of PRIDE where he stopped fighting top competition. His first real contender fight since the PRIDE days was Verdum and he lost. People need to stop and realize that he is past his prime. People need to stop thinking Fedor is some mythical creature.

In 50 years, if there was a video to show what MMA was all about at this point in time, it would be a highlight reel of Anderson Silva's career. How anybody could deny that Silva is the most brilliant Mixed Martial Artist of all time is beyond me... you'd have to be completely blind to not recognize Silva as the greatest of all time. I guarantee if Bruce Lee were still alive, his favorite fighter would be Silva. Fedor was a great HW, but nowhere near Silva's level.

like i said,i think his prime was between 2001-2006,& during that time PRIDE had better HW's& dana wasnt trying to get fedor to fight in the UFC because PRIDE was still around & fedor was dominating the hw's,which were definitely better hw's then the UFC had,the UFC had guys like paul buentello,tra telligman, wesley cabbage & pride had cro cop, nog,linland, werdum, overeem in their prime, maybe in fedor's later years he fought less top competition, but he was definitely #1 for a while

Silva & GSP are both great fighters, but who also fought alot of cans in their record. Fedor is not on the list nemore because he doesn't deserve to be there anymore, he's done fighting. Fedor fanboys are just as bad as Zuffa zombies. Fedor was GREAT in his prime, he was a dominate force. But he was going up against the weaker competition. The people who've went to the UFC from Pride have struggled because they were going up against the best. Look at Shogun, CroCop or Wanderlei. If Fedor would've signed with the UFC, yeah he would've won a title, but wouldn't have held it long or he would've lost a few before. He is ONE of the greatest, but not THE greatest.
