a 180 is definately the way to go

kinda puts my 90 to shame

  • well nice tank i must upgrade to a bigger tank, shame you got rid of them, must of been hard to let them go.

  • awesome fish tank

  • Hi - great looking fish! I've been looking for Bucchochromis Rhoadesii - do you know where I can order some? I love those guys. Thanks!

  • Hey, beautiful fish you have. The all look in great health and condition with awesome coloring. I'm not one to try and tell people what to do, but bud......u definately need more water flow in there, the fish are breathing pretty fast and there is not enough circulation and/or aeration. The fluval FX5 is cheap and does the job well........keep up the good work with the fish though.

  • I've got 3 eheim 2217's and 3 powerheads, as well as airstones.

Honestly, though guys are hardly breathing fast at all. Especially for their size and the activity level in that tank!

    Thanks for the comments though.

Without the airstones and air aggitation, there is not enough oxygen to support those big fish!

Actually, I no longer have most of these fish. No, they didn't die, I just had to keep one tank. It IS this tank, but I sold all my big preditors.

  • But you are telling me what to do. Honestly, I don't quite understand why people feel compulsed to do this sort of thing.

  • @jjett77 "i dont tell people what to do"............. but ya did. on top of that your wrong. none of these fish are breathing fast.

  • nice tank but i wouldnt wanna have to clean it..lol

  • Amazing tank.

  • nice tank

  • What a treat for eyes! never seen such big haps, How big are they?

  • nice hap tank i love those haps

  • You've got a great selection of malawians. My Venustus was just as big as yours. He was the beast of the tank. Very nice!

  • Thanks, I wish I still had all these guys... but I sold several. I really needed an 8' tank for all these guys.

A couple of these guys are on aquabid for sale. The spilonotus and Borleyi.

  • I am the owner of Tx Holey Rocks web site and I approve of your tank. Great Haps, very healthy tank and active. One of the few tanks with large Africans I have seen well balanced with the stock. I was sad not to see any Tx Holey Rocks in your tank though.

  • Actually, I DO have some of your rocks, but not in this tank. I've bought two rocks from you, but they're in tanks with smaller fish... and i've always been too cheap to buy any of the cool BIG ones, I've spent it on fish. You've got some nice rocks at a good price!

  • Nice! Where do you buy your fish?

  • Probably a dumb question but are all of these Cichlids?

I just got a 37 gallon tank (My first tank) and I'm new to raising fish and I need as much help as I can get. All my fish have been dying but the African Cichlid.

  • I wouldn't put any of these fish in a 37g except for maybe a peacock or two, or maybe a trio of yellow labs.

if you have an african cichlid with traditional freshwater fish, he's proably killing them. You need to make a decision on what you want to keep. Cichlids have interesting behaviors and there are cichlids that you can put in a 37g, Kribs, Blue Rams or apistogrammas give you the personality without death. But avoid these fish! It could also be your water quality. Good Luck!

  • Well I thought the African Cichlid WAS a freshwater fish. Damnit. lol.

I got him at Petsmart. The label said they require salt but the workers said they don't have to have salt. And that the salt just helps with their slimey coat and stress. I'll have to look into it. Are the peacock and yellow labs Cichlilds as well?

One more thing? Why should those fish be avoided?

  • But they require different water conditions and are quite agressive. They need to be with other African Cichlids So don't keep them with tetras, barbs, rainbowfish, gouramis... or even SA cichlids like Angelfish. Keep african cichlids with african cichlids(almost.. always)

Note these guys like hard water and higher PH than most fish you get at petsmart.

  • Gorgeous, but I do enjoy air bubbles creeping around rocks. Very impressive.

  • oh my god just picked up my 150 gallon today and guess what im gonna have one just like yours, you should list these fish

  • OK.. I'm going to add it to the description.. check it out.

  • Beautiful!!!Gorgeous fish you have there!!
