great graphics, amazing sound, cliche but classic plot, oustanding gameplay and the replay value is through the fucking roof. of this is just my opinion.
I am not sure if I will like this game. I thought Mario 64 was impressive (graphics wise) but then the charm wore off... I did not end up finishing the game for more than 10 years!!! I think it got repetitive. I wanted to know if Mario galaxy does a good job of mixing things up?
This Game was a big letdown for me. it was an okay Game [8/10] but by far not as good as Mario 64 and that game came out i dunno about 10 years ago? not only the plot is pretty repetetive but also the whole galaxy thing is uninspiring and don`T get me started about the Camera Angles. The 2nd dissapointment after Zelda twilight Princess which was again repetetive and whole game looked like a revamped version of ocarina of time mixed with the wolf changing. Don`t believe the hype.
XD the story was repetitive? And you're defending mario 64? And the galaxy thing is uninspiring??? And the camera is by far the best of the mario games... either you have very bad wording or very strange tastes.
It took me3 months to get 120 stars, but thatwas because i couldn't play video game because I got 3 F's.Now i need to get 120 luigi stars so I can Ultimately beat this game.
Anyway I like the game, but personally I don't see it as being all that innovative as people say. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm halfway through the game and it feels like business as usual with a few tricks. You're welcome to prove me wrong of course.
That's just it, I can't. But even the biggest differences, aren't the same leaps & bounds that we used to see from say SMB2-3. So the question is since games have gotten more complex, is that kind of evolution possible on these grander scales? Even Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said that SMG, MP3 & LoZ:TP are just "updated franchises" and that the real innovation they are focusing on are ideas in casual games, like Wii Fit.
Both great games, but if i had to choose one game to keep, i'd keep galaxy in a heartbeat cuz its alot more dificult to make a great game that is varied and consistent for many hours than making it short and focused like Portal is.
Portal is fresh and does everything flawlessly, but Galaxy does ALOT more things flawlessly for alot more time and stays fresh all the way to the end!!
eh, galaxy had lots of room for improvement. instead of putting in those Daredevil\Speedster stars or whatever, they could have put in actual new levels. sm64 and sunshine had a lot more level variety. They should have done more with Galaxy's hub world too; it doesn't serve much of a purpose other than being a haven between the other galaxies. SM64's castle had a lot of secrets for it's day, Delfino Plaza was packed with stuff too. SMG has a room where you sit down and have a story read to you.
Galaxy is clearly inspired in 2D Marios more than SM64. I dont agree that sunshine and SM64 had more variety at all, there is no level alike in Galaxy and it even goes as far as giving diferent ways of playing on many of those levels. The imagination put in many of those levels is amazing and unprecedent. I still havent decided if Galaxy is better or worst than SM64, right now they are equal. Sunshine, while good comes nowere near these two.
I don't want to sound like a jackass, but Nintendo may have shot themselves in the foot with this game. Where are they supposed to take the series from here? Anything else, like returning to just a planet will seem too small by comparison.
really, it's such a good game. But don't yuo think it was a little bit too easy ? I don't know if it's only me but it seems all wii games are easiers than, by exemple, gamecube one's. Don't you think ?
haha exacltly. I've NEVER finished SMS and i'll never loll but that's too bad for it cauz without the difficulty it could make an awesome game. But you're right, SMG is really the perfect one =P
SMG's levels simply never get old. As well as the music. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to Gusty Garden Galaxy JUST to listen to the music.
Yeah Super Mario Galaxy is easy, but it does have its hard moments. The dreadnaught galaxy as a whole is really hard, and having to fight Bouldergeist without taking a single hit is quite a challenge, but at least Super Mario Galaxy isn't frustratingly hard like Super Mario Sunshine.
i dont know. i thought super mario sunshine was way to easy. but super mario galaxy was actually suprisingly easy to pick up. and i probably spelled suprisingly wrong
Hmm...a good review but the bit a the end (Bowser dying) was a bit of a spoiler. My only other complaint of this game would be that sometimes it is way too easy. I have like 40 stars and only needed 31 one to unlock the 3rd (or forth) Bowser Base.
I didn't like the camera that much either I remember there were times I couldn't even go into first person view mode, it kept making that negative sound effect like in Mario 64, I can expect not being able to rotate the camera left or right sometimes but not being able to go into First person view mode thats bull. Other than that yeah this was a great game and I had to get it for Christmas after renting it.
Great review. I don't have a Wii anymore, but if I did I'd probably buy this game.
You know, I'm almost starting to think that ranking games out of 10 through pre-defined criterion is starting to get stale. I'd like to see more reviews like this... just point out the hits and misses, what novices or vets may like, and just let people decide for themselves after hearing just factual-based observances. Kudos, thee3nd.
There's only one problem I have with both the game and the reviews:
Not enough Rosalina.

I dunno. Super Mario Microcosm, maybe?
RABBIDGamfan 3 years ago
#1- Super Micro Mario- Mario shrinks to tiny size and entire levels are on living, moving creatures, objects etc...
#2- Super Mario Time travel- like the name says Mario has to travel through various periods enabling all kind of themed levels.
#3- Super Mario Kingdom- back to basics, Mario in Mushroom Kingdom WITH YOSHI
#4- Super Mario Dimensions- it says it all..
Either way Shiggy knows his shit, thats why he's a legend.
Oh and whatever comes out I WANT YOSHI BACK :D
