this is such a waste of time . Instrument racks + chain selector + distribute ranges equally : I'de be done in 2 minutes. Ur a great producer but this is seriously the wrong way to do this :/
Tom, you are the best teacher I have ever had and I have an honours university degree. Thank you so much for your videos and please don't ever stop making them. The way you narrate them is fast, funny, informative, and easy to follow. I will be releasing my first set of tracks this year and I will mention you in the special thanks section.
You rule man.
PS if I could make a request for some mixdown mastering/equalization/compression of a finished song that would be a sweet vid! Thanks!
I think it would've been quicker to divide the original clips matching the length of the original midi notes. Then deactivate all clips, maybe duplicate them. And then just activate the desired clips through the loop.
@comemisscoma hardware-wise, i love it. my problem right now is that my computer is garbage, so the keys have a bad lag so it makes live recording almost impossible. but the compact size and versatility of the thing are awesome. it has a lot of potential, but i mainly use it to control automations and knobs in fruity loops.i can't wait to get a new computer i'm gonna pimp it out specifically for making music and get some monitors
@pauleypauleypauley haha that's how we all start out! have you tried changing the audio preferences btw? i thought you could reduce the latency by tweaking the settings under the Audio tab
@pauleypauleypauley well, under the audio preferences tab it shows your 'Overall Latency' ideally this should be around 10-20 ms, you could change this by changing the In/Out Sample Rate, Output Buffer Size (don't bother with the Drive Error Compensation, this is just for audio interfaces that report incorrect latencies) and the Input Buffer Size. you just have to play around with these things to make sure your overall latency is as low as possible
We took a cat from our neighbors after they kicked it out. It hadn't been neutered and or declawed. I wanted to kill that thing cuz it peed everywhere and tore everything up. We ended up kicking him out too.
hey...you could also morph between settings....like Alchemy has...i think ableton has a morph plugin too...so u could setup the synth one way, then for the next morph preset set up the synth another way...and do this 6 or 8 times...then just switch between the morph presets smoothly with an XY controller sort of interface....so u can actually be between two preset positions....
if you draw an automation for the osc of the synth and then insert a step sequencer you will save up to 20 min and you will still be able to change the midi track or any other parameter....if you resample a track and you don't like it you must come back and do it again...i think it's just a waste of time!
if you've got more than 1 track you want to route to a single track, you don't need to go through them al individually. Just select them all and then do the routing 4for one and all of them will change. Bit of a time saver
Wouldn't it be easier to do this in session view, set loop points (and legato in the clip launch setting) for each clip on the wanted part of the bassline and then trigger and record it? Then you could at least play around and hear what works..Right?
wow this is realllly complicated, what if you decide at some point that you want a change in the meiody? the hassle with the recording will start all over again.. intresting and i didn know the thing with the audio track as a 'direct' way of exporting but not convenient for me
I joined Tom Cosm's web site 3 weeks ago and I swear it changed my life. I promise I've wasted about 500 dollars on bullshit tutorial videos. This guy is the real deal and most of it is for free. TomCosm U the Man!!!!!!!
great work dude! You can get plugs that do this sort of stuff but it's always interesting to see other people's work methods. It's about being creative, regardless of the tools you use :)
any mac users looking for a glitchdb style plugin should check out effectrix.
then you don't have your own sound.. when there's programs that'll write your music for you - are you switching to them because it'll be easier? do you learn anything about production from using a glitch vst that does all the work?
that's cool - I am going to try to the same thing with a moving chain selector with many bass instrument variations in a rack
