the 2488 was a total fail! all i want is a dp02(where its all laid out simply like a mixer) but just add 24 tracks 16 ins and motorise the faders.. it cant be that hard!
but all they've done is make the dp03! a bit smaller and harder to use than the dp02 and then discontinued the dp02 (one of their best products)! WHY! TASCAM WHAT ARE YOU DOIN!!!
i have this....im making a low fi singer/songwriter masterpiece right now.If i had a better guitar it would sound amazing.I love this machine.! had the zoom four track and it sounded like crap.
@HAROLDESTEVEZ What i do is play the song and get a cord to run it to the computer and ro to record and play the song straight to the computer while recording
@HAROLDESTEVEZ I plug the small earplug type cord to the eraplug/Line out on the side of the tascam & Line IN on my computer. I uploaded just fine, very high quality.. I cant seem to download back onto the tascam,I can but it sounds terrible. all warbly and the highs go in and out & it sounds very weak. wish the USB would allow me to take the song from my harddrive & put it on the tascam onto one track. Maybe my sound quality wouldnt go to complete crap.
@hereinthebronx I line in with my guitar, hit INPUT SETTINGS and make sure your set on whichever A or B input ....then ASSIGN , then hit the RECORD button directly Under whichever track your going to use & it will flash ....when your ready to start recording , hit record/play at the same time (the flashing light will now stay solid red while recording)
@emerton321 I agree it would be better to explain how to use it than say how good it is. The instructions didn't fill me with much confidence either - why don't they just reprint instructions than send a separate sheet to try to explain where errors were in the original instructions? I wonder how many of these lie unused at the back of cupboards too complicated for many with VERY POOR INSTRUCTIONS.
Is it possible to record, while listening to i.e. the recorded drums, through headphones? So that both the recorded drums + what your recording a.t.m. come out the headphones? I hope I'm not confusing anyone ;p
if your talking about this specific 4 track (tascam dp-004), you can use the built in mic's, or (if it's an electric drumset), use a guitar cable, plug one side in on the electric drumset, and one side in the 4 track.
does anyone know if this unit has a speed button? so you can speed up or slow down the tracks? and can't you choose if you want to hear certain tracks alone, like vocals or guitar?
I used the tascam 414 analog for a year......Just ot this DP-004 Today and have tried EVERYTHING to simply record a track & its Tooo confusing. How do I record one single track step by step would sure help a LOT, plz, anyone? just get me started how to just record 1 track plz. Step by step if at all possible
shure you can use a bass with it! this unit is 200 buck for 499 you can buy one way way better! its an 8 track with effects and 40 gig storage, mic pre amps noise gate awesome! i looked at them today in boston and left empty handed though!
panning is when you send the signa,or sound to one side l or r for example you can pan rythum guitar to left and lead right or drums left and bass right. etc.
The pan control moves the signal between left and right in the stereo field. For instance, if you're playing back track one through monitor speakers, turn the pan control all the way to the left and you'll only hear the track out of the left speaker. In the center position the signal will be evenly split between the left and right speakers.
Yes, basically. That's a good way to put it: the pan function controls the balance. I'm sure there's a more technical definition than that, but that is the practical application of that control knob on the device.
Pan will also control the balance of a track during recording, although I think that most people record to right and left, and then pan during mixing/mastering.
Me want this very much

@HAROLDESTEVEZ take out the SD card and either use a USB adapter to your computer or if your computer has an SD slot you can probably use that
