Carlin and Penn ARE two of the most beautiful people to EVER grace this earth. Its a shame people don't recognize this though. Mainly cuz they both have their own opinions and are LEADERS, which is rare in society today.
Loved that Carlin bit! My earliest memory of George was when he did that old W-I-N-O, WINO!! routine on the circuit of variety shows in the 60s. Then I had a chance to see him at the old Rainbow Music Hall at Monaco and Leetsdale in Denver. Never forget him. I still laugh when he got to the 7 words because he expanded them to around 200 words. One in particular: "69, 71 (that's a 69 with 2 fingers shoved up your ass!)" I still laugh.

Penn Jillette is pretty against what the Bush administration stood for.
He simply made a video pointing out how people actually want there to be conspiracies and they actively make them up in their mind because it's sexier than the accepted truth.
Is it crazy to believe that fundamentalists crashed plains into those towers to make a religious point? Absolutely not. Should we watch our government closely, sure. Should be automatically believe any conspiracy story? No
Even ol' GC was a fan of evidence and not crazy faith based theories.
There is not one single peer-reviewed scientific document that supports any theory about the 9/11 incident other than what is already widely accepted. Not one single one...
Penn Jillette is a regime/corporate shill, the antithesis of all George Carlin stood for.
Penn Jillette screamed that anybody telling the truth as George Carlin did about 9/11 was shamefully insulting the victims families and should be pushed down a flight of stairs. Penn expressed similar sentiments toward those who know JFK was killed by the CIA.
Don't let this fat dancing monkey rewrite George Carlin's legacy, which now in three videos he appears to be trying to do.
According to conspiracy theorists, a "shill" is someone who has been bought and paid by the government to conceal "the truth" about a particular event or person or organization.
In reality, pretty much anyone who demands that conspiracy theorists provide solid evidence for their ideas, is labeled a "shill" or attacked for being ignorant. Disagreeing publicly with a CTer and having any sort of notoriety or fame will nearly always result in being labeled a "shill."
Go jack off to "Prison Planet" why don't you. Its not Penn's fault that Truther's have pretty much failed to support their myriad theories about what "really" happened on 9/11 with any real evidence, and stick their fingers in their ears when evidence is brought up in opposition to them.

His last work & observations were the culmination of a lifetime living w/ eyes wide open, stating the obvious to the end about the murderous criminal fucks in government & corporate boardrooms while media shills take the money to distract & propagandize.
It would be a shame were Carlin's later work forgotten or erased in a rush to remember his early pop success.
Us Aussies have always had a reputation for swearing, it's nice now that our television is catching up to us. In Oz, a lot of us still only have free to air TV (5 channels). All of them now say fuck, and at least 3 have dropped cunt once or twice.
I think it's important because I consider swearing to be a significant part of communication. Not the gratuitous flame style as such, but it does highlight emotional cause. Just watch Momento and you'll know what I mean (the 'cunt' bit).
This is the nicest tribute to the Carlin Family... and as a fan of Carlin, and Jillette, I was touched. I want my daughter to remember Penn & Teller when I die.
I remember the dedication to your and Teller's parents at the start of How to Play in Traffic, something along the lines of "They are the greatest parents in the world. Much of this book is merely our opinion, the above is objective fact." I was 15 when I first read that, so I don't think I could possibly relate to it at the time, but as an adult, I think it's beautiful.
Indeed! Beguiling, bewitching, captivating, charming, enticing, magnetic, seductive... these are words that fail to do the good gentleman Jillette justice. Such finesse!
Great video Penn. If one of my Kids were to honor me like that, I would have shed one myself. Been watching Carlin since I was 10 years and have enjoyed every second of it!
I don't think that he would have added that in there, because he was making a point about pure offensiveness. If he had put THAT in there, it would have complicated the issue more than necessary. It would have gone from a problem of words to a problem of racism, and that would have just been superfluous.
Don't lose hope. I'm sure that someone will come along, eventually. It may just be a while. Carlin was good at a lot of different types of comedy. Someone with those talents doesn't come along every day, but Carlin proved that they do exist.
Cheers, man. You'd think that with all the comedians in the world, a few would have Carlin's healthy cynicism. Can't wait for one to step up to the plate and make an impact lke George certainly did.
Someone should write a song called "Shit piss fuck cunt cock sucker mother fucker and tits". The Class Clown album should be required listening, in my opinion.
I believe he was talking about the case and not the movie where the evolution side lost. If I remember correctly it was mostly lost on a technicality.
Profanity is just straight up great comedy. Language is fun, plain and simple; and swearing, euphemisms, colloquialisms, slang, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, etc., make for great conversations and great stand up comedy. George knew this - not only for the sake of giving a big 'fuck you' to censorship, but he was a master of the language. I wish he would have been honored more while he was alive - but there's no doubt he was adored and highly respected. There'll never be another George!
Good ol' Penn waxes a bit rhapsodic about the value of these words. Alas, I get it. If he ever becomes a beekeeper, he will likely say all of those words when he gets stung for the first time. Just a question of when, not if, if you are a beekeeper.
pitbull103: "...If he ever becomes a beekeeper, he will likely say all of those words when he gets stung for the first time. Just a question of when, not if, if you are a beekeeper."
I'm sure Penn is well aware of bee stings. Do a search for "Penn & Teller Bees" and you'll see an example of what I mean. Penn's not squeamish when it comes to shit like that. With that said, of course he'll most probably use all seven words if he ever gets stung AGAIN, but it won't be a first time.
Re:-pixelatedxdeath (5 minutes ago) "Carlin is the best." WAS the best. inspired *Us* that *We* might become more than he was. Messianic? i have this habit of singing or saying whatever i'm listening too on my mp3 player and i was listening to the 7 words you cant say on tv. While my algebra class was going i was doing the rant without me noticing
i think penn and teller's act is the shit. bullshit is one of the only shows worth watching on tv. and penn's rants on yt are eye opening, funny, and thought provocing, but please penn for the next rrant put on some clothes...
I like the way Louis C.K. put it. By media censoring these words, when you hear them censored, it naturally makes you put a word to the censor to make sense of what you heard. Therefore they're making you repeat the word yourself in your head. I think Louis C.K. "could" become the next Carlin, but not really "THE" Carlin. Along with Mitch Hedberg, George Carlin R.I.P.. I'll never stop putting his albums in every once and a while.
Pray to Joe Pesci tonight everyone, it's the right thing to do.
To add to KemaTheAtheist's point, actually to hear George Carlin tell it, praying to Joe Pesci can be more effective cuz Pesci will get shit done. You want someone to disappear? Pesci can arrange that. He'll make a few calls, pull a few strings, and your troubles are over. Can YOUR god do dat?
Do a search for "George Carlin: Religion is Bullshit" or "George Carlin Joe Pesci" and you'll be up to date. I'd just put the link here, but YouTube frowns on that.
5spoonfest5: "Lets face it the one real word you cant say is nigger. "
One night I was at a party. A friend had taken a cig out of my mouth, took a puff, and handed it back to me. I said, "you nigger-lipped it" completely failing to realize there was a black guy in earshot. A second later it dawned on me and I turned to the black guy and apologized profusely. He couldn't stop laughing.
I've since quit smoking, and I CHOOSE never to say that word, even when alone. You can do what you want.
thanks for sharing this about george w/us..sometimes we/i need to be reminded that if it wasn't for george (and a couple others) that our society/entertainment /music/politics... wouldn't be quite the same, and it was always right there in front of us to begin with... i grew a beard cause george had one,he was the second person i can remember as a kid who had one,Lincoln was the first.. if you can make it work, pink robes are cool...cheers
I remember back when I was in high school, my friend and I rented Carlin at Carnegie and would rewind and play, rewind and play, rewind and play until we had written down his entire revised list of words. Good stuff.
TitanTron6: "How come only cocksucker is on the list, and not snatcheater?"
As Carlin did the '7words' routine on his tour circuit and as his popularity grew, people would inevitably stop him after the show and suggest words to add to the list. So Carlin came up with a new routine some call "Incomplete List of Impolite Words" which probably includes 'snatcheater' in it somewhere. I think half the dictionary is in the expanded list. His original point is, no word should be outright censored.
It takes me alot to show pain"cry", when i found out that George Carlin died I refused to believe it at all. Then after accepting it,I cried my ass off lol,If George Carlin was here,I know for a fact he would say "pussy!"
Ultimately, when it comes to broadcasting any segment on those words, and if they actually play the footage of him saying them, it doesn't matter whether or not they censor the words, George Carlin has won and will continue to win the argument.
If they censor it, it shows how ridiculous and stupid the opposition is and continues to be about it; and if they don't, then it shows that they're on Carlin's side ... and that's fucking beautiful.
Who cares what an overrated comic-magician has to say about anything.

George Carlin was the MAN. It is great to have seen his act twice before he passed.
He kicked so much ass that they had to import colons from other countries just to meet the demand.

I don't think that he would have added that in there, because he was making a point about pure offensiveness. If he had put THAT in there, it would have complicated the issue more than necessary. It would have gone from a problem of words to a problem of racism, and that would have just been superfluous.

George's two commandments:
"1) Thou shalt always stay true and faithful to the provider of thy nookie.
2) Thou shalt try really hard not to kill anyobody unless they worship a different invisible man than you."

Don't lose hope. I'm sure that someone will come along, eventually. It may just be a while. Carlin was good at a lot of different types of comedy. Someone with those talents doesn't come along every day, but Carlin proved that they do exist.
tybo09 2 years ago
Cheers, man. You'd think that with all the comedians in the world, a few would have Carlin's healthy cynicism. Can't wait for one to step up to the plate and make an impact lke George certainly did.

Just a question of when, not if, if you are a beekeeper.
pitbull103 2 years ago
pitbull103: "...If he ever becomes a beekeeper, he will likely say all of those words when he gets stung for the first time.
ZachsMind 2 years ago
Penn can make those damn bees disappear, so it shouldn't be a problem.

"what is up with pesci? "
Part of one of Carlin's bits about religion.... Synopsis: praying to Joe Pesci is as effective as praying to the sun or to God.
KemaTheAtheist 2 years ago

"Fart, turd and twat."
I remember back when I was in high school, my friend and I rented Carlin at Carnegie and would rewind and play, rewind and play, rewind and play until we had written down his entire revised list of words. Good stuff.

How come only cocksucker is on the list, and not snatcheater?
TitanTron6 2 years ago
TitanTron6: "How come only cocksucker is on the list, and not snatcheater?"
As Carlin did the '7words' routine on his tour circuit and as his popularity grew, people would inevitably stop him after the show and suggest words to add to the list. So Carlin came up with a new routine some call "Incomplete List of Impolite Words" which probably includes 'snatcheater' in it somewhere. I think half the dictionary is in the expanded list. His original point is, no word should be outright censored.
