  • Funny how top comment says "this is merely a demonstration" and Uploader says "it is not merely for demonstration" ...

  • nice kicks - but white wood splits along a gain with any small tap when the ends are held and solid 4" concrete blocks will break with a tap when they are laid flat. But people use them in demos as they look good. I assume everyone knows that anyway, but try that with 3/4 inch ply and a board that short, the guy holding the plywood would probably go backwards the ply won't break. just to give you some idea what I mean, 1" plywood can support the weight of a car over a hole in the road!!!!

  • I'm really impressed... I don't say that a lot.

  • take your shoes off and try it again.

  • keep clicking 9

  • quality

  • simply amazing

  • WHAT IS THAT !!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????.

  • Pause at 0.46 and admire the 6 inch kick.

  • Use the force!

  • I hate people when they do that in that case close quarters just use wrestling lol

  • where does he teach??

  • thats cool good job

  • this guy talks toomuch -__-'''

  • @chickensupdude he's italian

  • The One (1) Inch kick

The one-inch kick is a very effective kick and it is not merely for demonstration purposes only. The power that is being generated from just a short distance can be very easily applied in close quarters fighting. If a person understands the principles, application and theory behind the kick and learns to generate power from this short distance, they will have no problem delivering power from a long distance.

  • @VERTICALPUNCH Isn't this the finishing move in Bruce Lee's famous side-kick?

  • @VERTICALPUNCH emm apparently you have never been a street fight master. I'll wait patiently as you line up for the "one inch kick”. The one-inch kick is a very effective against static targets. What happens if you’re not on a movie set?

  • @ReveretheHood

    timing is the key.

  • Therefore, the kick can be used during tight grabs, clinches and ground attacks. It can even be utilized while standing still and can be executed with power snap from as little as 1.

  • Velocity and Alignment: Applying all of ones body weight into the target generates the force from this kick. Therefore, the rear heel and the hips will line up perfectly after the quick rotation of the rear heel and the shoulders. The kick is executed in one fluid motion, forcing body power and velocity and perfect alignment, including the leg, being fully extended and perpendicular to the floor.

  • . For example: a short one inch kick snap can be delivered against someones shins or instep during a bear hug, clinch, or even a head lock. It can also be executed against a charging attack while you are flat on your back and the other person is rushing into the attack. You can then use this kick to deliver power instead of pushing off.

  • When do you use this Kick?

This kick is used in many demonstrations to showcase the power behind it. However, do not place your foot against someones chest or any other target to execute it. This kick is used in short, close quarter distances.

  • Again, two things must happen: one, you have to rotate the rear heel and snap the front heel into the target simultaneously with speed and snap. Otherwise you will not cause much damage while penetrating the target. Two, it is very important that you rotate and snap the front heel without reloading. You must push all the energy forward that is being generated from your hip and rear heel rotation.

  • Rear Heel: The starting position of the rear heel is at a 90º-degree angle. The rear knee is fully locked. The right or front leg is fully extended against the target with the heel about 1 away and with toes touching the target. Execute the kick by rotating the rear foot until it is fully facing the target.

  • Therefore, the kick can be used during tight grabs, clinches and ground attacks. It can even be utilized while standing still and can be executed with power snap from as little as 1.

  • i use to break borards likthat with my hand when i was 4 in tea kwon do

  • Great demo. But please buy a tripod....

  • I'm a jiu jitsu fighter, and I'm never really impressed with striking arts. However... damn. I'm actually impressed big time lol

  • solid wood?? Try one,not made of balsa wood, and several inches thick!

  • more bollox

  • wow the guy has a tony montana accent

  • hahaha yeah xD

  • me getting a bonner could break that ;)

  • huh?

  • just what his mum told me

  • For all you dunces saying "this wouldnt work in a real fight", of course it wouldnt. Who starts a fight with their toes resting on the other guy's chest? It's just to show what's possible with proper technique and training.

  • UltimateHibz-

exactly now your understanding it, as it just provides students, people, and re searchers the technique used in speed punching in as short of a distance can generate power un thought off or usually known Bruce Lees research of punching provided that the human body has alot of extra movement cabaple as the body if condition right has a lot of flexability to even still generate this amount of power in a short distance along with alot of chi or in English/Western alot of Focus !

  • ill you the 1 inch dick hahaha

  • let him kick you then tedleoagent lmfao!

  • tedleoagent being the master martial artist that you are, shouldn't you be training and not wasting your time with "us retards" on youtube?

  • poor idiot..

Bruce would turn 360 in grave

  • Whether or not he pulled his leg back even half a foot is irrelevant.. His foot was up in the air. basic rule of kicking is the higher you kick the less power you have.. ESPECIALLY IF YOU START WITH YOUR LEG IN THE AIR.. try it.

  • @MarkSPARTAN127 hell yeah! ive kickked thru plenty of wood starting from the ground. i most likely wouldve just fallen over if i tried something like that! haha

  • wtffff how can u get so much power out of a kick like that O_O im a wing chun fighter and i've never seen shit like this before wow

  • Powerful kick, my friend; There is much force being generated within a fraction of a second, this is serious stuff. For those of you that misunderstood the video, this is merely a demonstration of this man's ability to generate power, it's logically not something to be used in combat. It would be nice to see a follow up tips & tutorial video pertaining to the mechanics of this kick, knowledge such as this ought to be shared...

  • omg thank you, some1 else on the net who understands that the 1 inch punch and kick are ment to show the ability to generate power and not be used in actual combat. I must say tho, this vid is pretty cool, something ive never seen before, i will practice this diligently =]

  • Hip Rotation: It is very important that the hip rotates at the moment of impact and line up with the target. The power from the hip is what makes the kick so effective and powerful. Without having to rotate the hips a few things will happen: 1) you will have no snap during delivery and 2) you will not penetrate the target due to the lack of power that is being generated from the snap.

  • @SecretsSanctuary

well, in close quarters this could be useful.

  • he pulled his leg back before the kick... fucking idiot

  • He pulled it back an inch. Thats how it works.

  • You see the scene cut out right before he broke the board, most likely switched it

  • Thats just the camera shaking.

  • i think i can give this kick a

    35% of probabilty

that it will be useful against WEAK opponents...

  • Its demonstration technique, not a combat move.

  • finally someone who know what is talking about...

  • wow, thats a first, great vid, awesome kick man 5 stars

  • relly provies it you to be 3 ft a way get in close and do this how awesome

  • they should rename it "useless kick"

  • nope that kick isn't useless if you master one inch attacks if you hit with fewer inches back it does WAY more damage then your one inch.

  • So can this guy practically kill some one with a full ranged kick, seeing as he can do so much damage from just a few inches?

  • that weird kick

  • nice kick..taekwondo ITF practice that kind of kick..very powerful side kick...if u do side side kick + with this kick..extra damage to ur enemy..

  • if you can tell me the point of doing a kick like this, i'll send you $1000, this defeats the object of what a 'one inch' technique is all about, legs give you range, what you are doing here is totally redundant and nothing to do with JKD. its a gimmick.

  • i think its mainly to further your ability to deliver power with kicks. of course in a real street fight, people barely use kicks legitimately.

    also its really cool xD

  • It's not meant to be an actual attack, per say. It is more supposed to help you develop power and technique that you can apply to all of your kicks. It teaches you proper body mechanics for kicking in general.

  • correct its not an actual attack, thats why its got no place in JKD.

  • Do you even practice a martial art, more specifically, JKD? Is so, have you ever done ANY kind of drill or technique repetition of any kind? I guess you were just so freekin good that they started you right off into the upper level stuff?

  • Before you can kick properly with power and form, you need to learn how. This is a technique that helps you develop correct form and body mechanics, resulting in power. Its pretty simple. I think if this man decided to use this on you, you might end up calling it an attack because he would probably break you.

  • Comment removed

  • if you cannot figure out ANY reason to practice this then you would never understand ANY explanation of it......id send you the thousand dollars if you promiise to GO BUY A CLUE you IDIOT

  • there is no reason to practice this kick. its a gimmick and the fact that you cannot offer a succinct thought is proof.

  • It's not about the kick. It's about learning the way to channel power.

  • Ive been kicked by the 1 inch kick from my master and it hurts like freaking hell. Once you learn how to channel your power you can produce one. The 1 inch punch is more practical in most situation but they both do damage.

  • this kick could teach the final phase of a kick. The power at the end of the kick. Does that make any sense? Thats my understanding of this.

  • an, you're a fake JKD guy

  • good technique. its very difficult to develop the jing in the legs. good to see people training leg techniques.

  • ...normally i do it on 2 or 3 boards...

  • The dude CLEARLY pulls his foot back before kicking! 0:46

  • he pulls it back 1 inch

  • He already has it aparently 1 inch his the cheset, then he pulls ack more

  • ur missing the point of 1 inch kicks or punch its to be able to fight with verry close range with jsut as much power as a full power punch if he pulls back then it is cheating the practice u start form 1 inch away u do not pull back or u are doing it wrong this guy imo is a total fake all of his vids he does the teqchnique wrong everytime no way hes a real black belt

  • yeah like if ur on the grownd with you foot on a attaker for example this would be great to put them in theyr place but i cant see it finding its place in tournament it requires positioning when ur stantding and that would leave u vournable

  • did u guys noticed he teleported a lil bit at 0:44. haha. he said to turn the hips n stuff but he didnt even turn anything

  • yup

  • you stupid fag . . . you'd get your ass kicked in a street fight . . . how'a about you kick a moving object??? . . . stupid idiot . . .

  • who says that this technique is meant for use in a street fight... dumbshit

  • You are both dumb shits, ha ha

  • caucasian trash

  • yeah diondasher thats why bruce also invited the finger jab because he said that it was helped to coordinate his one-inch kick to generate power

  • With Bruce Lee's one inch punch, they said it would actually be logically in a real fight. They said sometimes fights start with finger pointing, so your finger is pointing, maybe touching your target. From there, do a one inch punch and boom, you hit them and they never see a load up. Same with one inch kick, throw a kick to scare them and they see your foot there thinking its done. They move in, boom, you let out a one inch kick from your foot already out there. It could work.

  • its a powerfull kick but who would let him kick in a actual spar,

That kick may be affective but slow

  • no you wouldn't use that in sparring. Demonstration move. If that comes from one inch, what would a normal kick be?

  • thank you! these people are pretty ignorant. its all about figuring out how to move your body to generate more force using momentum.

  • dude thats real nice i tell you what i wouldnt fuck with you

  • i hope thats a typo XD

  • ^^

    x]

  • very impressive, i expected alot less lol

  • very nice technique!!! its vicious!!!! it could be used in kickboxing too, very nice technique!!!!! i have checked out a couples of vidéo from this sifu and i like his aproach of jeet kune do. he really know what he is teaching, jkd is not only pak sao and low kicks! tanxs for this demonstration!

  • its funny because at first they were all proffesional and then they randomly start swearing and shit lol

  • Damn guidos. One of them gets rowdy and then all hell breaks loose!

  • not really..

  • It should be named ONE INCH KICK AGAINST A SOLID WOOD

  • For all you suckas dissin this guy, I'd like to see you do what he's done

  • I don't think there's a much better compliment than people telling you that was too hard to do to be real ;)

  • your stupid

  • id love to learn how to do that

  • All you people who don't understand... this is not a fighting technique, it is a demonstration of how to generate power with your hips so that the heal of your kicking leg is lined up with the heal of your standing leg.

This is what the instructor says at the beginning of the video.

You impliment it by lining up your body correctly ON ALL your kicks.

    Well done sir.

  • its a good kick and whether or not there is a practical application doesnt matter... the full kick will be much stronger and cud be used in a fight.

btw why do the bruce lee bum boys keep quoting him "boards dont hit back" cuz at 0:59 he hits the other dude! also the main reason ppl train on boards is because ppl dont like to get hit so u have to train with boards.

  • Thank you for posting this video. The instructor seems very friendly.

  • Bords dont hit back

    -Bruce Lee.

  • Its a demonstration ffs do you people always have to relate back to Bruce?

  • impressive, but how the hell do you implement it?

  • if someone caught your foot in a kick, use the one inch to get it back and push the opponent back, duh..... its like asking "whats a punch for?"

  • dude, you don't gotta be an asshole

  • haha, sorry =]

  • One has to learn it first to implement it.......

  • This is true, but its still good to ask. Wouldn't you ask the usfullness of a technique befor investing time in learning it? And then once learned to a reasonable degree, decide wheather it is useful enough to continue maintaining and improving proficiency? What about a 540 kick? Some techniques are obviously too difficult to realistically apply. And a front kick? Some have obvious usfulness.

  • Once Again, MAKE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS...

But, if it's a risk of you getting sued, don't attempt :D OR send them secretly.... *Jealous*

  • The obvious practical application is if someone grabs your leg while you're doing another type of kick. Unskilled grapplers will often pull your foot into their centerline and you can do EXACTLY this technique to simultaneously damage them and free your foot. Great demo.

  • The funny thing is so many people make comments, but NOT one person will try to demonstrate better!

  • yeah cause they think they know what they are talking about but i hope most can see u are very skilled.

  • yeah ok.. but I still wonder when and how you are gonna use it in real sparring/fighting

  • I guess that's a good kick...if the dude you're kicking is dumb enough not to push your foot away. Basically, not a very good thing for fighting on the street. Someone will just grab your foot and throw you to the ground. Takes too long for the power to come.

  • youre stupid.....that kick is just an option if someone grabs your foot when u try to kick him. normally u dont kick like that, moron.

  • Even then, dude, you can just throw it out of the way. DUHHHHH.

  • Man I gotta say I was ready to call you a tool bag, but I think you really have a good technique here. These other guys are idiots if they cannot see the practical application for such a kick. How long did it take you to get this kick down well?

  • blah blah blah its a freaking good kick, effective? let me kick you and see.

  • what a useless technique

  • he says "DYOPE" every time he gets kicked lol

  • This isn't really a *1 inch kick* - youve got at least six inches of movement as the guy moves in to the target... im a black belt in karate and know how to execute this move as well, but a board is weak and the kick here is not very impressive-

  • lemme tell you sumthin, saying i got a black bely in karate tells everyone that you are a retard an a delusioned idiot. its easier to go down to the local mcdojo (inevitably karate for some reason) and "earn" a blackbelt than it is to buy a pie at the local server lol. do a real martial art.

  • In Japan, belts are for holding up baggy pants.

    -Mr. Myagi.

  • lol! That's good stuff.

  • moron. if u got a black belt, i dont ever wanna see your dojo....cuz normally, black belt people are not only stupid fighting machines but understand the philosophy of the martial art they do.....you obviously dont.

  • thats pretty good focus dude

  • BOARDS DON'T HIT BACK.

  • thts good....i knw the how it works....its when u twist your body and just thrust your heal outwards,,its a natural snapping motion,,well for me anyways,,,,i hope u understand,,,aloha from hawaii

  • for king60,

this kick can be use for sure in real combat.

for example: if someone is getting close to you and you try to block him with a sidekick and you don't touch him because he hold back at the last second maybe he'll surely rush again so when you kick for the first time, be sure to let your feet up and then snap it...maybe it would be more clear with a demonstration

  • When do you use this Kick?

This kick is used in many demonstrations to showcase the power behind it. However, do not place your foot against someone's chest or any other target to execute it. This kick is used in short, close quarter distances. For example: a short one inch kick snap can be delivered against someone's shins or instep during a bear hug, clinch, or even a head lock.

  • If a person understands the principles, application and theory behind the kick and learns to generate power from this short distance, they will have no problem delivering power from a long distance. Therefore, the kick can be used during tight grabs, clinches and ground attacks. It can even be utilized while standing still and can be executed with power snap from as little as 1".

  • As can be seen, a side kick can be very effective even if not from a distance. The only problem is getting it that close to the opponent's body, It's nice in a demonstration like this but in a real fighting situation the opponent will NOT be standing there just waiting to be kicked. And, by the way, I've had an eight year old student hurt me with a kick like this but of course I was simply standing there.

  • The one-inch kick is a very effective kick and it is not merely for demonstration purposes only. The power that is being generated from just a short distance can be very easily applied in close quarters fighting.

  • Applying all of one's body weight into the target generates the force from this kick. Therefore, the rear heel and the hips will line up perfectly after the quick rotation of the rear heel and the shoulders. The kick is executed in one fluid motion, forcing body power and velocity and perfect alignment, including the leg, being fully extended and perpendicular to the floor.

  • Can you explain the actual body mechanics behind the kick?

  • Can you explain the actual body mechanics behind the kick?

  • hey man, lets see a full length kick. i want to see this concept working if you kick something from a greater distance.

  • camera man should be quite

  • notice how he pulls back before he kicks, lifting his toes off the target. it's no longer one-inch, silly. the one-inch punch isn't pulled back before delivery.

when done against a person... well, the shot is done at a weird angle, so i can't really give it ANY credibility.

  • lol in a tricky situation where movement is limited? O awesome so if that dude ever fights someone else in a box, jkd would be awesome!

  • haha

  • as i commented above, the one-inch power is done at the end of every punch/kick. think it like this: the 'one-inch' IS the attack, and the punch (movement of hips, shoulder, elbow, etc) is adding MORE power, and more reach. someone flicks you in the face, ow! someone thrusts out the hand to flick you in the face, OW!

  • Nice flex, nice power, im impressed.

  • camera man sounds like a fag

  • JEET KUNE DO(The way of the intercepting fist)

The key is not to kick with a 1" inch .there are many kicks can be used to excute the target....It only shows how much power can be delivered from a short distance....

  • let me ask you something what dose JKD stand for

  • Tell me who in there right mind is going to stand there and let you kick them

  • that not the point if you in a tricky situation where your freedem of movement is limeted training for this can be handy

  • not necessarily. that power generated in the supposed 'one-inch' is delivered at the end of every side kick, pushing that much more force into the person, creating a whip-like effect.

  • yer good point, maby close quater bag kicking, puching, and free style self defence training would probably help in close quarters. i think...

  • the more distance you are able to extend your punch can generate more power, but it's slower. being in close quarters lets you punch faster, albeit weaker and in more danger. actually, this is where the one-inch punch really shines, because you can rapid-fire a series of thrusted punches with the flick of the wrist (which creates the one-inch power). so imagine punching 5-10 times in a second from 4 inches away. it's like drilling into your foe.

  • Nice man :)
