Couple of things. PVC is not malleable and splinters in the event of failure. Picking it out of your eyes is labor intensive. Wear glasses bud, wear ear protection....I know, I know....but believe me your ears can only take so much abuse.  This stuff is cool, and will remain cool as long as you take care of yourself........now my potato cannon projectiles cleared a Home Depot.....uh, never mind. Be safe.

Someone said that "you would see the flame coming out of the barrel" well yes you would, if you put a more than necessary amount of the fuel in, so it needs to burn outside of the chamber and barrel limits, but if you spend 5 minutes with maths (how dreary) you can make sure that doesn't happen.

Go watch my demonstration of a battery through 1/2" plywood, no flame.

In my test fire of the metal shell, where the barrel is absent, you can see the flame CLEARLY

@Kroll117 actually no, with a projectile traveling at high velocities, it can easily punch out a shape on plywood... HOWEVER, if someone hit it with a sledgehammer, yes it would crack, because of the decrease in velocity :D

2.5" diameter is ideal. I used PVC grey electrical conduit pipe because it is the easiest to get a hold of. I was able to obtain it at my local Lowe's home improvement.

yes, i used three home air conditioner filters underneath the outer layer of PVC. many 1/8" holes are drilled in both the in inner and outer PVC to allow the pressure to escape into the filters.
