G'day mate. There's been a lot of love poured into that bike - nice work. It took me back a while seeing you switch to reserve there - my old XJ had a fuel lever, which I thought was pretty cool at the time. Glad you could still ride in December - the countryside out your way looks awesome. Thanks for sharing your ride, what a great sound. Cheers.
@TKTex1 It's amazing that I caught that successful switch to reserve on video. And on a strange bike, no less. It was one of the few times that I have managed to find the lever and accomplish that change-over before sputtering to a stop!
Weather-wise, if not for work I could be riding today. It's supposed to reach over 60 degrees. We've had an unusually mild winter ... so far :)
@incrediblekicks I agree, and so does the owner. If it were mine (I wish!), I would also try to fit a headlight cowl. I think that would complete the look.
I love cafes, and that's a nice one. I was going to do my 550 in that style when I was working to get in on the road. I'm glad I didn't though. I wouldn't be able to put the kind of miles on it that I do if it were a cafe. Thanks for posting!
@seekinsoul Glad you enjoyed. Yeah, you were better off leaving the 550 more or less stock for the long distance stuff. Maybe your 250 could be a candidate for cafe treatment?
@seekinsoul You should go for it. It would be a fun, and probably not all that expensive project. It would also make for an interesting video series. Should you decide to come out of retirement, that is. :)
Thank for that Duffy - and thank Bill for allowing us a look at it and ride with it. Makes me want to get something like this for myself now :) (just for taking-it-easy cruising around.)
Very nice…great ride. And you showed some quick motorcycle savvy by going straight for that reserve! Other riders may have just coasted to a stop. Good show…Happy New Year.
@Spacecoastz Truth be known, I knew it was low on fuel, but I was still pretty proud (and a bit surprised) that I managed to get at the petcock as quickly as I did!
Back in the day, that was the bike of my dreams. In the '60's, about the only interesting thing Honda had was the Trail 90's and 160 Dreams. The real motorcycles of the day were the Triumphs, BSA's and Nortons. What a glorious sound those big twins made. Sitting next to one at a traffic light and listening to that lumpy idle was a joy. I know bikes are faster, handle better and are more reliable now but damn I miss the old days sometimes.
@MAG315 Very cool bike. A buddy of mine has one that he's offered to sell to me numerous times. Tempting, but I have successfully resisted ... so far!
hey dp, hate to bother, but maybe us your fans can see the man behind the camera sometime? :D would be great to get vlogs of anything you wanna talk about if you want to add more youtube vids that dunt involve your rides :p
@FoxxFire50 Thanks for the comment. I got into this simply to make an occasional motorcycle video that might be of some interest to other riders. Unlikely that you'll be seeing a 'man behind the camera' video any time soon! :)
Great video DP as usual, very enjoyable, thanks for sharing mate !!

@MAG315 Those '60s Bonnies and Tigers were about the best looking motorcycles ever, IMHO.
dprider02 1 month ago
@dprider02 I'll have to agree with you there. Strangely, besides my love of all things Triumph, I always wanted a BSA 441 Victor. Go figure.
