  • Amazing. He can tell story thru guitar. Look at his expression when playing guitar said it all. Truly amazing.

  • his guitar says it all :D ... practice to death ^^

  • this is more than a song, its a story

  • goose bumps. Every. Single. Time. I know this song for like 4 years now but i still get this feeling when i listen to it. Its almost impossible to describe. Amazing what music can do^^

  • he can make the most simple chords sound so beautiful

  • he means every note

  • amazing

  • what tuning is this in

  • i found out. its in 1 and 1/2 step down. damn

  • Tune down a (almost) half step

  • I LOVE YOU

  • every single note is perfection, i love the way he makes every 'pluck' (lol idk what else to call it) count

  • Will someone gag the stupid woman who says "questions" over and over and over and over?

He's going to play questions ok???? And if you shut up long enough, we might all hear it!! Grr!

  • Oh and wasn't the music sublime???

  • i like that harmonics :)

  • gorgeous melody.

  • He's aware that we are all watching and listeneing, but he still plays as if he is alone!

  • just listen for the first time this song has became one of my favs

  • listening to this is like coming home. after a lifetime of war, walking beneath oak trees with nothing but the sound of the breeze. the sun forever rising. forever standing still. peace for the weary. redemption for the damned.

  • You know I am always struggling for words to express my unbridled enthusiasm for this guy (it only took me a day to become a fan for the rest of my life). My friend - you've said it all here - and thank you Tommy for digging so deep with every song.

  • its amazing.. tommy is the only artist i know of that can paint a picture like that in the listeners head.. thats so much emotion put into the song. he's always my #1 musical idol.

  • there are more of those. but not many! The musical elite of this world. Wizards.

  • My friend and fellow Tommy fan, you said it well. Tommy is what happens when talent, dedication and love of playing came together.

  • @thedevilscolt Traditionally i would respond to that by saying something like 'dont get too gooey' but you're right on the money, man. no exaggeration at all. This man and this song are incredible.

  • @thedevilscolt so true man...closing ur eyes, listening to his songs, especially this one, is like hallucinating WITHOUT drugs true? its the gift he has man

  • @thedevilscolt stop making comments on youtube and finish off that god damn song already! dig deep! :D

  • this is awe-inspiring. my absolute favourite song of tommy's. every time i listen to this, i fall in love with this song just a little more. it takes a true genius and a pure soul to compose something as beautiful and perfect as this. to me, listening to this is almost like having a religious experience of some sorts. simply breathtaking. thank you for this wonderful piece of music, tommy, it makes the world a better place to live in.

  • best ever... period

  • I'm sure... I will hear this melody in heaven... My heart cries when I listen this song.. unsatisfied longing..but also my heart smiles..God Bless You Tommy. from Poland.

  • anyone know why he uses the dreadnaught for this breathtaking song?

  • Perhaps I can tell you!

It's tuned down 3 halfsteps and it has a more huge sound with this and with normal tuning this song wouldn't sound sooooo beautiful! The dreadnought has also a huge sound because of it's guitar body.

  • O really?

    kewl thanks heaps.

  • Tommy, you are a genius! This song is beautiful!

When I listen this song, I think about many things... Thanks Tommy

  • oojakapiv I was there at Bolton and it was my brother and I who requested Questions! Im kindof happy about a request of ours making someone elses night too!

  • uplifting. very touching tune. i have made up my mind to set tommy as the ultimate standard to achieve as a guitarist. I personally think those artist from candyrat, though very skillful, does not come anywhere close to tommy's way of expressing music and his flexibility on the guitar. Truly an all rounder, superb guitarist. Not to forget showmanship.

  • Every candrat artist has their own unique style and they still make great music. Andy Mckee and Don Ross could play with anyone.

  • yes indeed,.

  • I agree!

I find, for example, Rylynn by Andy Mckee to be a beatiful song, but it's uncomparable to Questions or Those Who Wait.

  • Beautiful melody, amazing player

  • I wish there were some way to harness the skill, through my screen and into my hands. Genius.

  • Saw Tommy for first time this week in Bolton, U.K. with Andy McKee. Was blown away. This was the highlight of the night. Ranks alongside Bensusan as a great writer/player.

  • He's a great performer, as well... just radiating pure joy; completely comfortable with himself & the audience... as if we're all just friends & family hangin out in his family room with him.

  • A guitar player like Tommy has no need to sing , songs like this need no words. When the guitar is played this beautifully it tells the story no words are needed. Pure class.

  • All of your comments are so right, Tommy is so much a part of his guitar, what a brilliant musician he is

  • This is what happens when you start playing guitar professionally at six years old and dedicate your life to an instrument and to the pursuit of self expression through your music. He is beyond comparison.

  • he started professionally at 5 years old !

And he started to play at 4.

  • Heres a Question. How can he improve on this? The story of the guitar finishes here.

  • Midas touch.

As amazing as his fast stuff is, this is the best. He needs to make another album with this stuff. Enough with the lyric songs already, he is a guitar player.

  • Smooth tone, deep theme, classical.

  • No words.

  • possibly the most perfect song in the world for acoustic guitar.

  • If I want to get my lady in the mood, I'll play this before, during, and after!

  • Genious quote ! :p

  • Whoever says that Tommy is a poser who just plays fast without any soul or beautiful melodies... SHOW HIM THIS VIDEO!!! ^^

  • Thank you, Tommy. I feel the same way.

  • this is quite magical.the musical talent that God put in him is divine...just listen carefully, this is music, nothing to compare it with...

  • His index finger seems to be hurt!

  • He appeared on Woodsongs old time radio hour later, (performance 418 I think) and said he split it open performing...someone in the audience gave him a band aid!

  • tommy emmanuel is amazing but the voice at 1:0 is insane freaky!!!!

  • Live sounds better than studio! Tommy is AWESOME!

  • I was there!!! It was in Budapest. Tommy was amazing as always. Thanks for posting this video!!!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmm nice

  • This is the best version of this song among many I've seen...

    Great

  • Yeah. Here I sit in New England wishing for a chance to see this guy in person, and that guy can't stop listening to his own voice. Go figure.

  • Wow.. the whispering at 1:40 freaked me out completely. Excellent performance as always

  • wow at 1:40 it is like a scentence but it isnt from him or in the crowd!!!! ITs like somthing learn scentence....
