  • i have found a place near me where there is carp. they wont bite anything i was wondering why??

  • I showed my neighbors the part when you fell on ur keester! hehe! :)

  • great fishing Doug! love seeing people catching carp and using proper care in the U.S.!!! if you ever wanna catch some 30 + lbers come up north to P.A. and fish the delaware/lehigh rivers with me sometime! p.s. my name's Doug too!

  • ive always heard the best way to cook carp is to nail em to a board cook em in the oven throw away the carp and eat the board

  • hay i really enjoyed this vid, i have some carp in my lake and i was wondering what type of bait u used

  • well done and great fish care..

  • no offense but this isnt really extreme - extreme is casting a hundred yards, using baitrunner reels holding 400 yards of line, fishing for fish over 30 pounds! in severe thunderstorm weather - sleeping on the shore of a lake for three days, while waves crash ashore keeping you up all night! lol - still you posted a great video with some nice catches on the ultralight! well done sir

  • whats the largest type of line i can put on it? i have some leftover 12 pound line....

what line do they spool it with?

  • can't believe they forgot to hire a director

hahaha, it's this a cool video though

  • Porky mug

  • four pound line??? thats something like 0.14 mm! R U sure?

  • @TheMeistereckhart yep, Berkey 4lb test monofilament.

  • I like crap fishing too!

  • what state and what lake is this

  • how much those rods go for and is it a combo or did u buy the reel seperate?? and where did u buy it, any store in particular?

  • im getting into carp fishing with the pen rod and was wondering what was ur rig and hook thanks

  • @darknessfalls714 , I am using a size 6 hook, four pound test mono line, and simply putting corn on the hook, and pushing it onto the line above it. Sometimes I use a 1.8 oz lead sinker or some split shot to sink it to the bottom. The main thing to do with carp is to have a full spool of neatly wound line, and keep your drag set LIGHT. Don't try to horse that fish, and don't be afraid to get spooled, loose your line and start over. The best stories are always the one that got away ::)

  • @Doublebaddotnet thank u very much

  • I wana be like this when i grow up c:

  • @passionforpaintball , I'm very flattered. Hope you don't grow quite as fat :). Extreme Ultra light is fun at any age you can develop the skills involved.

  • dang i bet you were soak all the way through to the skin when fighting the first carp

  • @kirbylee96 , thanks for watching and commenting!. Truthfully I didn't feel the wet at all. Carp and the pen rod extreme together can tend to make you think only about all the fun you're having.

  • @Doublebaddotnet

    WOW

you are more EXTREME than i thought

  • omg extreme! -.-

  • what size is the rod

  • @meathead131 , Thanks for watching and commenting! That is the classic Pen Rod Extreme, 56" rod. The new Goliath is even longer.

  • wegen so einen Zergfisch, so ein Tamtam

  • How long is that rod? I know they come in a few different lengths... clearly, yours holds up well to bigger fish...

  • if you mom or dad gets ltd books at work look in there, thats where i got mine from

  • nice video!! what lb test line were you using? i'd love to catch some carp on the PRE and experience the thrill of fighting with ultra light tackle!

  • @FishingThePNW Thanks for watching! I use four pond test mono ( really can't find 2lb near me and I like to have my reels spooled at the pro shop so I get the max amount of line for those long angry carp runs. ( I have been spooled several times by monsters) . It is a whole different game when you can't horse them in, not for everybody but I sure do enjoy it :)

  • Nice fish! I also use very light tackle, when fishing for trout in Sweden. It's not a penrod, but almost...

  • Great video! You seem like a nice guy. Subscribing you for sure and hope for more fishing videos in the future!

  • hey i was just wondering what bait you used to catch carp

  • usually corn, or prepared baits from K-1.

  • nice vids 5/5!

  • looks great fun, gonna get myself a pen rod now i know they can handle carp, always nice to see people using unhooking mats whatever side of the pond, fish conservation is important to preserve our sport from likes of PETA

  • I would say congratulations! Welcome to the family, and remember not to ever try and muscle, horse, or overpower any fish with the PRE, not even blugills. This is extreme ultra light, you have to play you catch and let it tire out. If you haven't all ready, check out my other videos for more on this.

  • Great video. Can you tell me why your suppose to use a mat. When carp fishing?????????? I rated the video 5 stars . Your right catching a big fish on a little fishing pole is fun!

  • So some British person doesn't kick mine large buttocks... seriously, it prevents injury to the fish. more im portant with mirror or leather carp though

  • Thanks for the info. always wonder why people used mats. When fishing for carp.

  • it only about 6lb

  • the second carp was around 6

  • What did you wish with?

  • I wish with corn....

  • corn

  • nice vid

  • Thanks!

  • how many pound fish can pen rod hold?

  • That's what we want to find out! Currently it's somewhere around 18 pounds IF the user has the skill for it. The main factor is the skill of the angler. You can't hold a fish of any size over an ounce or two if you try and bully/muscle it. With skill and finesse coupled with proper use of a net, proper use of the drag system and determination, a heavy fish can be landed. Targeting species other than small pond fish does void the warranty AFAIK.

  • i dont live in america or where ever there currently delivered though cuz its in a different currency from where i live

  • i bet u are too

  • wow now i really want to buy a pen rod for sure

  • where are you fishing.

  • Coursey pond Spillway near Felton Delaware

  • we saw you today at derby pond remember it was me and my dad with the blue conoe? it was 9/1/09 o and where were you fishing at?????

  • I do remember, that's on slick canoe you had there and both Al ( the other fat guy on the bank) and I were both impressed with the way you handled your paddle. This video was taken at Coursey's Pond, on the spillway side, North bank, down the trail from the parking lot. Fish fighting Basics has a slightly bigger carp from the same spot. It's a nice place for carp, but tough with Ultra light because they have much cover to run through.

  • when the carp runs and pulls on your drag, when you reel at the same your not getting the fish anywhere your just twisting your line.

  • I have heard that. Also see the "pros" doing it on the outdoor channel. I don't think the point is to move the fish, just add a little more resistance. For sure, when the fish is taking drag, it's moving where it wants to. That's the fun of ultra light for me. YMMV.

  • also, doing that ensures the fish never gets any slack if it suddenly turns towards you..

  • Never thought of that, interesting point. For me, it was strictly a case of "monkey see, monkey do". if Larry Dahlberg does it, it's good enough for me.

  • ahahahahah my stunt man ahahah cmon now i just fell down this bank lol that was funny man nice carp on that little rod props to ya

  • Glad you enjoyed it, at the time - it was the biggest fish I ever caught. Relatively new to fishing, but I fish almost exclusively ultra light. Now I am into EXTREME ultra light, as in the Pen Rod Extreme.

  • thats a ice carp nice job=]

  • Thanks!

  • Why use a mat?

Also doesn't the net hurt them?

  • The mat is more important for carp without scales all over. Commons are fairly protected. The mat just helps alleviate any scuffing, scraping, or other minor injuries during dehooking. You already hooked it in the mouth and won the fight. I now use a net that is less likely to cause any injury, you can see it in Fish Fighting Basics where I use to land an even bigger carp in that same spot. Fishing comes from the human pursuit of fish for food, but in catch and release you try to go easy

  • they should have a pen net

  • Yeah, it would be easier to carry.

  • Carp are the best fighting fish in the world I think so well done mate for handling it well and giving it the respect it deserves

  • thanks m8, hoping to get into the twenties club with the Pen Rod Extreme this season.

  • there is no such thing as a wild common carp. they r an invasive fish species. i bowfish the trash fish and is way more fun that catching them with a pole. plus when i did fish 4 them with a pole its pointless to use a mat. i used to just plop em in the grass, or mud, or wat ever i was standing in.

  • Okay

  • i dont really fish 4 carp with a pole any more. i moved to bowfishing for em. way easier and a lot more fun

  • thats sadistic

  • nice carp!

  • Thanks, it was a P.B. at the time.

  • yes there are, in fact there is a story circulating now about a Kentucky angler landing a 38lb grassie with two pound test line. Generally, Carp are abundant in all U.S. waters. Fishing for them is becoming more accepted, fly fishermen seem to be leading the charge at the moment. It can be very challenging to get a carp to take a fly, and of course they fight better than anything else in freshwater. Not even Northern Pike have their staying power.

  • just wondering if you new if there are carp in rivers in kentucky uninted states?

    thanks for you help(:

  • Thanks for watching, I am trying to remain standing/or/seated in future work..... :)

  • great common and nice vid!

  • Six pound fire line and Great Value Canned Corn, no salt added. Would love to get to Cali and do some fishing. Thanks for Watching.

  • WOW! I am just suprised how you got that fish what pound test line and bait were you using? anyhow you should try fishing over here in california and around there like lake perris

  • Thanks! I hooked some bigger ones when I was shooting fish fighting basics, but I got pwn3d. One line snap, one hung up in a downed tree that two passing chicks in kayaks had to free, and one that ran through the timber and spooled my front drag reel that I had to get my inflatable kayak out to free.... Need to find water with more room to fight...

    Thanks for watching.

  • nice fish doug, come up to wisconsin and ill put you on some carp from 10 pounds all the way up to 40...good luck and great fish

  • yeah i agree nice fish i love to catch carp on light tackle i caught a nice 32.8 pound common carp on a 8 pound line will light rod and a small real what a fisht

  • That sounds like a party! It is very exciting, I really couldn't believe I landed the ten pounder. Last year was my first full season fishing, and the first carp was less than a month before making this video. The ten pounder was the biggest fish I had ever caught. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Great fishing, nice big carp too. I hate mud to bud HAHAHA. One time my shoe got stuck in the mud hahaha, It was so far down deep, I left the dam shoe there. That was at the Ohio River, It can't get real nasty up there. 5*

  • Yeah, I had a nasty motorcycle accident in 00. I used to be a very athletic fat man, I still wobble but now I fall down :) Thank goodness I took all those martial arts classes trying to get skinny. Never did get thin, but all those whuppin's sure taught me how to take a decent spill.

  • Great Doug that was an awesome vid and carp!!!!!

    VA boys all tha way!

    CBC

  • Thanks Cousin (from that part of the world, we got to be related somehow....) I am looking for my induction into the citation class (15 lbs up yonder here) next then the twenties club.

  • Looks Great! Keep up the good work!!
