Words fail to describe not only the timeless heaven that is Bach but the incredible superhuman talent this man has, he is beyond man, the very finger(s) of God.
For those who say he needs to learn the piano: Do you realize that when Bach was alive there was no such thing as a piano?
This piece is originally for the harpsichord. Bach regularly transcribed his own pieces to different instruments, so it's not like he believed there was a specific instrument for every piece.
hey i think yours is the best tapping i have seen... thank you Adam.. u also do a great job with jazz in ur trio.. and i was also checking tht fingerboard master game xD.. i think is so useful for guitar beginers to learn the notes locations in the guitar and bass..
@ stretchmorgan,.SHUT UP. Your jealousy is appallingly obvious. Anybody with knows ANYTHING knows the perfection is impossible. @theDragonaut The fact that he can do it is why anyone performs. He is exhibiting his great skill by performing it in a "difficult manner, that is the necessity of it. His timing is perfect, and the fact that he is doing it with two hands on a guitar is phenomenal.

@charvel124 Playing Bach badly is not acceptable. I AM a better musician than this person as is any member of any symphony orchestra in the world & thousands of students who study to a point where they understand the function of harmony in Bach's music. To do this to Bach is extremely arrogant.
@stretchmorgan you are a phony. a true musician knows there is no such thing as a "better musician." music is not a contest. And even if it was, as it seems to be for you--you have zero uploads...hence your claims of being a "better musician" are even more asinine and unfounded. Please dazzle us with your grasp of Bach's harmonic ideas. Or shut up and stop hating on someone with the talent and magnanimity to share it with the rest of us.
@alspageddi Oh, so every musician in the world uploads videos of themselves on a shitty webcam to show off to sad little boys like you do they? This guy has a crappy sound (why anyone would choose to play an electric guitar in this way is beyond me) & plays a complete howler at bar 14. If he were any good at all then he wouldn't drop such a clanger. This is a load of rubbish. If you want to play this prelude its probably an idea to learn the piano & how to read (tab is for losers).
@alspageddi well said we are all different it is not a contest we all have unique things about us all, but i have to admit as i am typing this i realize this guy is awesome lol
@alspageddi while I agree with you about the vast majority of this statement, Bach is really not very interesting..it's better than some, such as Mozart, but it's still so incredibly conformist that it becomes boring quickly. I don't mind bouree, but thats about all I can take.
@FZmustacheFZ Bach has been so widely influential to those that have followed, the question becomes, are you sure he was conformist, or have others since conformed to him?
@alspageddi Not what I meant by conformist, but I could see how my comment wasn't really clear. I mean the conformist type sound. Generally all melodic and chromatic (not always, but generally). Whether he created it or not, I do not know. But I've never been a huge fan of that sort of music. I'm more interested in dissonance and percussion. Varese, Zappa, Webern, Ives. (I know, a little off topic, but nonetheless worth mentioning).
@FZmustacheFZ Dude, I love Zappa too, I have seen him twice in concert before he died, but *this* musician, while possessing the same exacting staccato finger control as FZ, is instead interpreting one of the greatest minds of all time in a way that will reach many, *many* more minds that FZ ever did.
@Anarchyffan I'm sorry, sir, but I think you're the asshole for making a gross generalization, such as calling me a hipster. Also, finding someone/something boring is an opinion, which, as far as I know, one is still allowed to have. I'm saying that Bach is boring because of the lack of interesting ideas put forth in his music. If you were to compare this to a work by, say, Varese, Ives, Zappa, or the like, you would start to find Bach's music repetitive and boring. Again, all by comparison.
How can you not hear any interesting ideas in Bach's work?
To take a single theme and make 14 fugues and more than a dozen canons based on it...
To take the theme of the Goldberg Variations and make well over thirty unique pieces...
This is coming from a fellow Ives and Zappa fan, by the way. So, being a Zappa fan, I'm well aware that everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But seriously, I just can't see it.
@PancakesoftheLove I didn't say there were no interesting ideas, merely that the interesting ideas were/are lacking. Sure, it's pleasant music if you want something to play to show your gal how well rounded you are, but in comparison to the pieces written by Ives and Zappa, it's just boring. Again, in comparison. Part of the reason people like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart and so respected is because (I believe, not positive), there weren't any composers composing things like Ives etc at the time.
@FZmustacheFZ Honestly, that isn't true. This music is so much more complicated than what Ives etc makes, if Bach would live in this time he would still be one of the best! (We just live in another time therefore other musicgenres apply) :)
@shenkeey How on Earth do you figure that isn't true? If you had actually listened to any of, for example, Zappa's orchestral work (and understood it, something else that's required), you'd look at your last comment and chuckle at the imbecility contained therein.
@FZmustacheFZ You don't need to listen to music; you try to understand the music when you want to figure out which is harder to make. For this time, I do agree Zappa etc is nicer to listen to; but technicality-wise and time-wise Bach is better, that is just true. sorry.
@shenkeey You consider Zappa nicer to listen to? Do you understand the phrase "conformist music"? Bach is conformist music. "That is just true. Sorry." Zappa is about as far from conformist music as you can stray. Therefore, Bach would be the one that's more generically pleasing to the ear. Also, Bach isn't doing anything that spectacular because he's staying within the confines of set rules and merely writing variations on these rules. Zappa ignores the rules.
@FZmustacheFZ if you tell all that to frank, or realistically speaking his son even, either one will tell you your a fucking idiot. if you like one or the other more thats fine, your stating your opinion only, thats cool. one of my drummers fav musicians is zappa, we both go to school for music he goes for jazz at berklee & i go for orchestration, we agree on this, & he plays a lot of franks stuff too. even steve via who played for frank has said this. zappa is nowhere near jsb in any area lol
@timearchitecture Frank may be humble, but if you know anything of his statements, he'll tell you that he despises Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. I'm interested where you heard Mr. Vai saying that, link possibly? Just wondering. Conformist music is boring, plain and simple. You may enjoy it, but it's still boring in terms of the different note or phrase possibilities.
@FZmustacheFZ Staying within the confines of set rules = not spectacular? Saint Saens once said, "What places Bach and Mozart above others is that their music never sacrifices form yet their expression never wavers". Bach's navigation of sound surpasses all other composers. The reason for that is because he composed fugues: the strictest form of music. By placing rules on himself, he obtained the freedom to create any musical line with logic and beauty. Guys like Zappa and Beeth. lacks this.
@Enix5548 What I'm saying, though, is that when there are set rules to follow, you simply have to stay inside of these rules. You can certainly make things sound "interesting" inside the rules, but you know there are things you can't do, which is silly. Limiting yourself is a waste of time. It's like saying "I wanna watch this movie, but I don't wanna see any of the video from 20 minutes to 40 minutes, and I don't want to hear any audio from 40 minutes to 60 minutes."
@FZmustacheFZ lol. You are arguing about Frank Zappa on a Bach video. Zappa is a fucking rodent compared to Bach, a sniveling little rat waiting to pick up scraps of the giants who came before him. There has never and will never be another composer with 1/10 of the talent of Bach's left foot. And jazz is for faggots. II V I ... that's the progression of 90% of every jazz song ever written right there. 'no rules' I guess. Maybe I can start my jazz wizard master class now!? Laughable, really.
@yarful What's laughable is your apparent understanding of Frank's music. Yes, 90% of every jazz song ever written is II V I. Which is why Zappa doesn't play ANY of those 90%...Perhaps you ought to research the person you're dissing before doing so. Alas, it's okay, it's easy for people to jump to conclusions. Anyway, as far as Zappa being a "rodent compared to Bach", you're merely re-spewing what you were taught. "Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart are perfect, no one will ever come close."
@FZmustacheFZ Never said anything about Beethoven or Mozart. Ants compared to Bach. Literally nobody can be compared to Bach. You frankly haven't done YOUR research. Oh and Zappa used II V I ALL the time. Jazz is for people with ADD. Here is another life truth for you: a little structure goes a long way. I bet you have Frank Zappa tattooed on your body somewhere. poo poo ta na na 'woah dood that sounds so tripppy' fkn rofl. zappa. what a joke.
@yarful Okay, so now it's obvious you're either a troll or just really stupid. I have no tattoo's. And if you think Zappa used II V I all the time, evidently we're not talking about the same person. Not to mention, Frank rarely played jazz anyway, so I'm interested as to how he played all these jazz tunes that have II V I progressions when he didn't play jazz hardly ever. Interesting. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're a troll. Good day.
@stretchmorgan You have definitely succeeded in upseting a lot of people off with your ignorance. I see you hate this and love Elton John. That exposed your musical level. They should disable posting on this video, to stop judgmental idiots from posting.
This is vile! Not only does it sound bad he makes a HUGE bum note & repeats it at bar 14! WTF? He also looks as if he's about to throw up. This kid could do with some fresh air. Take it from me. Go outside, play football or something with your friends, experiment with soft drugs/mild psychedelics, get a girlfriend & chill the fuck out! This is horrible!!!!
@stretchmorgan You must have no concept of the ability it takes to perform this piece and this way. You are very judgemental and unforgiving of that fact. Are you a better musician playing the guitar in that manner? Where is your video of this piece?
@KABRIS1 You can teach a monkey to do almost anything but you can't teach someone how to have a soul. I watched a video of this guy murdering a Bill Withers tune. Hideous! Why are all your losers determined to make a the electric guitar, which is a great instrument, sound like a piece of shit? This guy is murdering Bach. This is a shit route to go down if you are getting into music.
@gitarmats Bar 14 is wrong. That's not my opinion, that's a fact. I couldn't care less what "most people think". I know Bach's music & this is ugly shite (my opinion of course).
I said that most people here think this sounds good so you could see that there are different opinions.
You state your opinion as if it were a fact, that is what I'm talking about.
Why not say "I don't like this"(or something similar that indicates that you are expressing your opinion) instead of saying it's bad like a scientific fact?
I hope you understand my point, my English isn't world class, hah!
In a couple videos of this amazing player there is something that looks like foil up on the top fret or two. Is this a way to make a capo or something? Thanks guys, I'm sure among the hateful answers somebody will have a good one for me :)

@nguytravis its to mute the strings, usually you use some type of cloth and put in under the strings and it eliminates any unwanted noise like ringing and such.
@MsPetrusMarius It's because he's trying so hard not to make the faces that come naturally to him, lol. I think he should just keep playing with the faces. Makes me keep coming back to watch!
It's a shame all these great guitarists don't get scouted. Instead they'll waste their career on other jobs, instead of what they're skilled in. He's better than half of the guitarists in these shitty bands out.
If I could play like that I'd spend the whole time looking like I was wanking was well!

FZmustacheFZ 9 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Bach has been so widely influential to those that have followed, the question becomes, are you sure he was conformist, or have others since conformed to him?
alspageddi 9 months ago
@alspageddi Not what I meant by conformist, but I could see how my comment wasn't really clear. I mean the conformist type sound. Generally all melodic and chromatic (not always, but generally). Whether he created it or not, I do not know. But I've never been a huge fan of that sort of music. I'm more interested in dissonance and percussion. Varese, Zappa, Webern, Ives. (I know, a little off topic, but nonetheless worth mentioning).
FZmustacheFZ 9 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Dude, I love Zappa too, I have seen him twice in concert before he died, but *this* musician, while possessing the same exacting staccato finger control as FZ, is instead interpreting one of the greatest minds of all time in a way that will reach many, *many* more minds that FZ ever did.
man4Sam 7 months ago
@man4Sam Well, I don't put much value in making sure everyone knows about someone/something, but I suppose the more people reached, the better.
FZmustacheFZ 7 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ You're an idiot if you think bach is boring. Hipster asshole.
Anarchyffan 6 months ago
@Anarchyffan I'm sorry, sir, but I think you're the asshole for making a gross generalization, such as calling me a hipster. Also, finding someone/something boring is an opinion, which, as far as I know, one is still allowed to have. I'm saying that Bach is boring because of the lack of interesting ideas put forth in his music. If you were to compare this to a work by, say, Varese, Ives, Zappa, or the like, you would start to find Bach's music repetitive and boring. Again, all by comparison.
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Lack of interesting ideas?
PancakesoftheLove 6 months ago
@PancakesoftheLove I didn't say there were no interesting ideas, merely that the interesting ideas were/are lacking. Sure, it's pleasant music if you want something to play to show your gal how well rounded you are, but in comparison to the pieces written by Ives and Zappa, it's just boring. Again, in comparison. Part of the reason people like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart and so respected is because (I believe, not positive), there weren't any composers composing things like Ives etc at the time.
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Honestly, that isn't true. This music is so much more complicated than what Ives etc makes, if Bach would live in this time he would still be one of the best! (We just live in another time therefore other musicgenres apply) :)
shenkeey 6 months ago
@shenkeey How on Earth do you figure that isn't true? If you had actually listened to any of, for example, Zappa's orchestral work (and understood it, something else that's required), you'd look at your last comment and chuckle at the imbecility contained therein.
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ You don't need to listen to music; you try to understand the music when you want to figure out which is harder to make. For this time, I do agree Zappa etc is nicer to listen to; but technicality-wise and time-wise Bach is better, that is just true. sorry.
shenkeey 6 months ago
@shenkeey You consider Zappa nicer to listen to? Do you understand the phrase "conformist music"? Bach is conformist music. "That is just true. Sorry." Zappa is about as far from conformist music as you can stray. Therefore, Bach would be the one that's more generically pleasing to the ear. Also, Bach isn't doing anything that spectacular because he's staying within the confines of set rules and merely writing variations on these rules. Zappa ignores the rules.
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Nevermind. I don't feel like making a big deal out of something today, okay?
shenkeey 6 months ago
@shenkeey Whatever floats your boat.
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ if you tell all that to frank, or realistically speaking his son even, either one will tell you your a fucking idiot. if you like one or the other more thats fine, your stating your opinion only, thats cool. one of my drummers fav musicians is zappa, we both go to school for music he goes for jazz at berklee & i go for orchestration, we agree on this, & he plays a lot of franks stuff too. even steve via who played for frank has said this. zappa is nowhere near jsb in any area lol
timearchitecture 6 months ago
@timearchitecture Frank may be humble, but if you know anything of his statements, he'll tell you that he despises Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. I'm interested where you heard Mr. Vai saying that, link possibly? Just wondering. Conformist music is boring, plain and simple. You may enjoy it, but it's still boring in terms of the different note or phrase possibilities.
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Staying within the confines of set rules = not spectacular? Saint Saens once said, "What places Bach and Mozart above others is that their music never sacrifices form yet their expression never wavers". Bach's navigation of sound surpasses all other composers. The reason for that is because he composed fugues: the strictest form of music. By placing rules on himself, he obtained the freedom to create any musical line with logic and beauty. Guys like Zappa and Beeth. lacks this.
Enix5548 5 months ago
@Enix5548 What I'm saying, though, is that when there are set rules to follow, you simply have to stay inside of these rules. You can certainly make things sound "interesting" inside the rules, but you know there are things you can't do, which is silly. Limiting yourself is a waste of time. It's like saying "I wanna watch this movie, but I don't wanna see any of the video from 20 minutes to 40 minutes, and I don't want to hear any audio from 40 minutes to 60 minutes."
FZmustacheFZ 5 months ago
@Enix5548 Also, Zappa's music is incredibly logical, and, in my opinion, beautiful.
FZmustacheFZ 5 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ lol. You are arguing about Frank Zappa on a Bach video. Zappa is a fucking rodent compared to Bach, a sniveling little rat waiting to pick up scraps of the giants who came before him. There has never and will never be another composer with 1/10 of the talent of Bach's left foot. And jazz is for faggots. II V I ... that's the progression of 90% of every jazz song ever written right there. 'no rules' I guess. Maybe I can start my jazz wizard master class now!? Laughable, really.
yarful 6 months ago
@yarful What's laughable is your apparent understanding of Frank's music. Yes, 90% of every jazz song ever written is II V I. Which is why Zappa doesn't play ANY of those 90%...Perhaps you ought to research the person you're dissing before doing so. Alas, it's okay, it's easy for people to jump to conclusions. Anyway, as far as Zappa being a "rodent compared to Bach", you're merely re-spewing what you were taught. "Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart are perfect, no one will ever come close."
FZmustacheFZ 6 months ago
@FZmustacheFZ Never said anything about Beethoven or Mozart. Ants compared to Bach. Literally nobody can be compared to Bach. You frankly haven't done YOUR research. Oh and Zappa used II V I ALL the time. Jazz is for people with ADD. Here is another life truth for you: a little structure goes a long way. I bet you have Frank Zappa tattooed on your body somewhere. poo poo ta na na 'woah dood that sounds so tripppy' fkn rofl. zappa. what a joke.
yarful 6 months ago
@yarful Okay, so now it's obvious you're either a troll or just really stupid. I have no tattoo's. And if you think Zappa used II V I all the time, evidently we're not talking about the same person. Not to mention, Frank rarely played jazz anyway, so I'm interested as to how he played all these jazz tunes that have II V I progressions when he didn't play jazz hardly ever. Interesting. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're a troll. Good day.

This is horrible!!!!
stretchmorgan 1 year ago
@stretchmorgan You must have no concept of the ability it takes to perform this piece and this way. You are very judgemental and unforgiving of that fact. Are you a better musician playing the guitar in that manner? Where is your video of this piece?
KABRIS1 1 year ago
@KABRIS1 You can teach a monkey to do almost anything but you can't teach someone how to have a soul. I watched a video of this guy murdering a Bill Withers tune. Hideous! Why are all your losers determined to make a the electric guitar, which is a great instrument, sound like a piece of shit? This guy is murdering Bach. This is a shit route to go down if you are getting into music.

@gitarmats Bar 14 is wrong. That's not my opinion, that's a fact. I couldn't care less what "most people think". I know Bach's music & this is ugly shite (my opinion of course).

@stretchmorgan
I wasn't talking about bar 14.

@nguytravis its to mute the strings, usually you use some type of cloth and put in under the strings and it eliminates any unwanted noise like ringing and such.
