The things that you point out, I think, may be the reasons why the have been punished by God through out history. They are not meant to think themselves about us gentiles, they are meant to be teachers of the true faith. They had become too superstitious and haughty in their pride. I believe the Holocaust was a punishment for the usuary (i think that's what it's called money lending etc) and their financial participation in WW1 that led to the downfall of Germany.
