You have to applaud the beeb for giving them this much freedom and trust...but ultimately it's misplaced. Gavin and Stacey is good, really good, but it's been lauded as the new Fawlty Towers or The Office when it's just not in that league. I think James and Matt are good blokes but they'll do better work than this.

If you're taking a shot at someone in your own industry, you need to have some credibility. In this instance, they're taking the piss out of both Gervais and David Brent (who is arguably the best comic character creation of all time). So until they create a character of equal ilk, they aren't really in the position to criticise. It's like Keane saying Nirvana's shit, it just doesn't wash.

waw. this is an awful, awful comedy. neither horne or corden are at all funny, whereas Gervais in my opinion is an absolute comedy genius. they were both okay (and i mean OKAY) in Gavin and Stacey, but other than that, what makes them think that they can pull off a successful comedy by themselves? they're about as funny as cancer, both of them.
