  • I actually found this really helpful. We're doing these in my beginner tap class *dies* and this video helped to clarify the memory of what we learned when I got home. Excuse me, I'm going to go and die in that corner now. *pants*

  • maxie ford turn? those are just scissors....?

  • The one i do you have to turn while doing it but your moves are different

  • Some people call this "jump" as a "leap" or "spring", but never heard people calling that a jump....

  • Maxie fords are soooooo much fun :D! And wow this chick fails her taps are not clear enough :| Plus its not ballet and her arms are TOTALY not straight enough, Stupid bitch :B

  • I wouldn't say that Maxi Fords were advanced tbh..

  • @ChristyLoveIt Maxi Fords are easy...What gives me trouble if anything is when both my feet leave the ground like with double pull backs or with double wings. At least with the Maxi Ford, you have one up, one down switching weight.

  • @ginnyawe UGH SAME HERE!!!!!!! ;)

  • geeze you can find out how to do any thing on you tube!

  • you ain't lyin.... anything.

  • LoL at expert village renting out some crack den studio...cheap skatesss

  • We call them a maxi ford and i don't think we've done them this way but it doesn't sound that hard!

  • i would call this a shuffle run knock or second variation shuffle pick up run knock

  • why cant people who are pervs keep their thoughts to themselves also watch yaoi or yuri also im 14 and have been doing these for a while

  • people need to calm down a bit. if you're so professional why are you looking for moves on youtube?

  • We do these but didn't call them Maxie Ford. Plus we don't have any turnout at all so we don't cross our feet over.

  • my little sister has been doing tap for almost 8 years and she's just now starting to do some of this stuff. calm down everyone.

  • UPSKIRT

  • Why are there so many pervs on youtube?

  • where did you learn tap? Fourteen? you learned a maxiford when you were fourteen?

and ummm if she's going to advertise this as advanced tap...of course those ppl who know it isn't even close...we are going to speak up! :D

  • this is actually awful

    sounds awful

and whats with the awful toe tap?

    off the floor darling...

  • when u do a toe u pick ur foot off the floor. u dont leave it there. nd ur heels should nvr touch the floor on this move. nice sounds other than the extra ones.

  • ok sheesh

either everyone here is a professional dance and did Grade 5 tap when they couldn't even walk.

    Or you're all bullshitting.

This is a Grade 5 tap step. Ok I don't feel it's as advanced as she makes it seems but it's not the first thing I learnt and I've been doing tap since I was 4. I learnt this step when I was 14.

I am the first one to admit I am no professional but come on people!?

    Seriously...!?

  • Okaay, ive been doing tap for 2 years i learned this the first year of my tap year.

  • I think everyone just needs to understand that these videos are advanced for people who are NOT taking regular dance classes and did not start tapping when they were 3. If so, you're most likely not learning the steps off of Youtube, am I right? These are to gather inspiration to try new things and maybe clarify old steps in new ways, they don't substitute regular tap classes.

  • i've only learnt maxifords to have the pickup in them.. and this really isn't advanced.. as everyone says.. you learn it when you're like 5!!

  • i feel like I learned this when I was about 7...

  • i learned that when i was like 5

  • Yeah so why aren't YOU on youtube teaching it then? This is for people that haven't been doing tap since they came out of the womb. Calm down!

  • that isnt advanced i leared that when i was 8

  • haha i learned this when i was like 5.

  • thats not advanced... its realy easy

  • i can do that

    xx

  • wow i learned dis when i was in level 1 tap man..

  • d place looks good, fit for another 'saw' movie sequel..

    u look funny!

    peace out..

  • Ooh...I actually haven't done these with a pickup, but it certainly sounds cool.

  • Did you sneak into this abandoned building in the middle of the night and not want to use the electricity?

  • The steps are called all different things. Like she calls them 'pick ups' but at my dance school we call them 'slap ups'. there's no right or wrong. stop judging this so harshly.

  • Learned that in my first year of tap...

  • i guess if you start tapping at 3 by the time your 8 your advanced thus knowing how to throw a pick up in a maxi ford...

  • lol i learned that step when i was like 8

  • not advanced.

  • Wow- Why are people critiquing this? It's a nice step/variation of a maxi ford. I have been dancing 30+ yrs, and in my experience I have noticed people call things by different names- depending on where you are, who taught you, and where they were taught, etc. When I teach, I let my students know this. Celebrate tap diversity! ; )

  • I was alwayss taught the second version. Never been taught without a pickup. I learnt these when i was about 8. =]

  • slap up?? lolol are you high?

  • Hey Dani....lol so funny I'm always on here looking for tap and there you are. ;)

  • ur pretty good, but idk if i would call it advanced...i learned how to do that a really long time ago, but i mean for people who just are starting they mostly just need help shuffling most of the time.

  • at my dance place a maxie ford has a turn

  • Sry about da comment I said, although thats wrong. Your good at tap.

  • wow everybody's quick to judge..... Nice video. i'm also an advanced tapper and we work on stuff like this all the time. ... i like how all these little kid like to exaggerate saying "i learnt this wen i was 8" and "i learned this when i was 5"....no you didn't, stop lying! cocky lil wankers.

  • lady, you've got your terms all wrong.

    its not pick up.

    its slap up

wait. what the hell is a pick up?

    and your beats sound rushed.

  • it's also called a pick up.

  • i no i learnt this wen i was bout 8. this aint advanced atall. im 19 now n wanna learn sumet really hard for auditions.

  • thats not advanced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I learnt that ageesss ago!im 13 now!

  • despite the comments on here i liked it and i love the sound. i do tap myself and i think you are reasonably good

  • call this advanced?

    HA HA HA.

  • That's defentaly not advanced im 13 and Im in advancted tap and we doooo alott more. and plus i did that when I was like 5. =D

  • technically it's a LEAP or step, shuffle leap toe.

  • wow...ive been taking tap for a year...wow.

  • this is simple

  • its not call a pick up! its called a pull, and thats not advanced, i learned that when i was 6 years old!

  • i did that in grade 5 in the bbo stuff n they arnt that hard tbh if youve got pick ups then you can do it pretty much but i swear she is doing them from a flat foot rather then a toe which would make it harder

  • I teach UKA tap and we call this, stamp, shuffle pickup change toe.

This girl does not do advanced moves and I am glad she doesn't as so much damage can be done if not learning the steps properly and learning the strengthening exercises first.

If you want to learn tap please go to a quallified dance teacher who can see you and correct mistakes.

  • the tapping in Australia also would call it stamp, shuffle, pickup change toe. I agree, this is not advanced - certainly not beginner but definitely not advanced!

  • I'm sorry.

these are cool steps and all.

but if you're gonna put them on youtube, please dont call them "advanced". i dont know where you got the idea that it's "advanced", but that's more like beginner-intermediate.

  • wow. this isn't that "advanced"

i mean you obviously have to learn pull backs first, but its simple.

  • I always called them Maxie ford pull backs but what I believe she is doing is:

    Step R

    Shuffle L

    Drawback R

    Step L

    Toe R

  • uhm maxie ford turns are better

  • Yeah she does teach too fast i agree.

I do ITDA and i think they're in Grade 4.

I think Grade 4 is the best grade (well so far that i've done lol)

Grade 5 is pretty hard, i'm still trying to get the hang of wings on one foot lol

  • ok which foot do u pick up w/ this is confusing

  • well if ur using ur right foot. just do a plain maxie ford untilthe shuffle and when u pick up ur leg pull, and use the suffle, this is the sound ba ba ba baba ba ba, i take compatition, thats how i know, i took tap for 16 years and im still doing it

  • ohhhh i get it! thanks =] yea ive been taking tap for 10 years and am continuing... so im still learning

  • They are drop shuffle pickup toe =)

But she does them in a different rhythm to how I did them. I do ISTD and that's in grade 5 I think! If I remember right.

These are good but I think she's well annoying! And for people at home she probs teaches too fast!

  • you do everything to fast! please slow it down

  • you do everything to fast! please slow it down

  • I think this is actually called a Sara Ford. I can't quite tell what your doing so I can't do it but is it like you do the shuffle and and an extra pull back? Can someone explain it to me?

  • i can do it!

  • love it.
