@hitachi088 make sure not to be in the city and have guns and alot of ammo. also make sure to secure the doors and windows and be ready to grow your own food. nobody will be getting in if you have barred windows and the door is secure.
storing canned goods make no sense. Freeze dried is the only way. Canned food is heavy and doesn't last long at all. "Wise" food storage has a 25 year shelf life. No rotating, no waste, buy it and put it away and don't worry about it.
@LouisianaTactical I disagree. 5 years is a pretty darned good shelf life for canned foods. There was a canner that I came across that cracked open a 2 year old mason jar of meat and it was just fine; it wasn't the first or the last I've seen like that.
Also, by rotating your food and water, you're always ensuring that your food and water is, in fact, still fresh and edible by catching rot, pests or other issues sooner than 5, 10, or 20 years down the road. Rotating is a plus, not a negative.

@JpainGLK17 Burn the trash and find a safe location away from where you eat and sleep to use the bathroom. Stock up on the cheap 13 gallon trash bags and get a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat top. This way its contained and could be burned with the trash. Keep in mind if people see you burning trash they will know you have supplies.

well just last year (2010) my small city,large town was hit by flooding, roads were severed from other citys and towns for a month ! and i was amazed how fast food becomes important, our supermarkets ran out of bread (because for some reason my cities bread is trucked in from other cities ?) canned goods were being brought by the trolley load and bottled water was in high demand, these things happened and that was just from a flood that lasted 1 month !! be prepared plz, great vid

I plan to stay in my house if SHTF, and can't put together a plan with my neighbors because casual conversation shows that they don't believe in prepping. I just agree with them that preppers are paranoid and keep it moving, quietly stocking up my supplies. Yeah, it'd be nice if you could count on your neighbors to help defend the neighborhood if it came down to it, but most people it seems can't because their neighbors won't prep.

Joel Skousen has a book entitled "Strategic Relocation" which deals with where you might want to live..... Best supplies are non perishable foods (start with canned goods and dry beans and rice, salt and sugar) and read the LDS Preparedness Manual, and Cody Lundin's "When All Hell Breaks Loose."

What collapse are you referring to? We haven't had a collapse here in the U.S. that I know of. This is 5/8/11 No collapses in other states. I chat on all social sites, no news stations have reported any collpases.
did anyone think about it is the getting to know your neighbors and sharing the food with the others is what will help you that God helps them who helps others.
if you live in apartment building have a easy way of getting out. hopefully you are not on the 14th floor. if the shtf, i would think that someone with nothing to loose will set fire to that building. somthing to think about. if you store all your food in the apartment you could loose it all. excellent video.

About living off the land and such. That is my plan for SHTF. I'm planning on going to my local state park which I hike every week or so, so I know the fresh water streams quite well, and some good hiding locations. The deer there are very domesticated from all the hikers so that's easy hunting, I know how to make a bow and arrows from scratch if something happens to my own set, and I can plant some seeds for fruits and vegetables, hows that sound?
@landmine21 The worry I have is that the deer will be hunted to extinction in some areas. There will be a LOT of hungry people and some unscrupulous hunters looking to fill the needs of those hungry people for profit. Vegetables will help you, but you really need grains to survive - wheat / corn / rice / oats / barley, etc in order to get enough calories. Also, you'll need to be able to do canning to preserve your produce for the winter....
@Survive2Day I see. Well, another good thing to hunt are squirrels, rats or mice, and fishing. And I hope that people won't think of the state park as a good place to go, because since most people are 9 to 5 jobs in the city, they lack survival skills to go outdoors so really they'd stick to what they know, which is the city. And honestly, if I found anyone around the park, I'd probably threaten them, so my family and I can live in peace there, because it's in the hills, small road to get there.
@Survive2Day The average man will need 2000 calories per day just to maintain weight and 3000/day if very active. It takes a lot of food and most people don't know how much to store up.

@artsnflies Well, the worst thing to be throwing away would be cans... So take the labels and burn them in the fireplace, along with any other paper packaging. Cut the bottom off and then you have a tube. Use tin snips to then cut up the side and now you have a flat sheet of metal instead of a can. This can be saved and used for various projects.

Joel Skousen has a book entitled "Strategic Relocation" which deals with where you might want to live..... Best supplies are non perishable foods (start with canned goods and dry beans and rice, salt and sugar) and read the LDS Preparedness Manual, and Cody Lundin's "When All Hell Breaks Loose."

if you live in apartment building have a easy way of getting out. hopefully you are not on the 14th floor. if the shtf, i would think that someone with nothing to loose will set fire to that building. somthing to think about. if you store all your food in the apartment you could loose it all. excellent video.

About living off the land and such. That is my plan for SHTF. I'm planning on going to my local state park which I hike every week or so, so I know the fresh water streams quite well, and some good hiding locations. The deer there are very domesticated from all the hikers so that's easy hunting, I know how to make a bow and arrows from scratch if something happens to my own set, and I can plant some seeds for fruits and vegetables, hows that sound?

@landmine21 The worry I have is that the deer will be hunted to extinction in some areas. There will be a LOT of hungry people and some unscrupulous hunters looking to fill the needs of those hungry people for profit. Vegetables will help you, but you really need grains to survive - wheat / corn / rice / oats / barley, etc in order to get enough calories. Also, you'll need to be able to do canning to preserve your produce for the winter....

@Survive2Day I see. Well, another good thing to hunt are squirrels, rats or mice, and fishing. And I hope that people won't think of the state park as a good place to go, because since most people are 9 to 5 jobs in the city, they lack survival skills to go outdoors so really they'd stick to what they know, which is the city. And honestly, if I found anyone around the park, I'd probably threaten them, so my family and I can live in peace there, because it's in the hills, small road to get there.

@artsnflies Well, the worst thing to be throwing away would be cans... So take the labels and burn them in the fireplace, along with any other paper packaging. Cut the bottom off and then you have a tube. Use tin snips to then cut up the side and now you have a flat sheet of metal instead of a can. This can be saved and used for various projects.
