War is evil. There is no argument but there is always a reason for fighting, the reason varies from to person. i loved out in the fields its an almost picture perfect anology of warfare
With the modest knowledge I have about Irish history, I presume that this song means a lot to many Irish people who have experienced the "fights" first hand.
Without knowing, I would say that Gary himself experienced this. That just makes this song even better and Gary more of a genius.
R.I.P. Gary!
It drives me up the wall that MJ got so much attention when he died. But when really outstanding musicians die the public/the press don't really care.
Gary Moore was from a Scottish family that settled in Ireland when it was part of Britain. If he supported the IRA then he supported the Irish bombing his own kin in order to make a ethnically pure nation state.
@EGshlimAJ Yes, but I am assuming that he had experienced the "crisis" (or whatever you want to call it) in Ireland because he lived there. I'm not saying that he supported the IRA, but that he sympathised with the victims of this "crisis" and the families and friends of these victims.
@EGshlimAJ come on bro lets stop the hate , we had too much here in tampico mexico, no more killings, we can be brothers again , just tell to the next guy and tell him that you love him ........please?
The first annual Gig for Gary tribute concert is taking place in Whelans, Dublin on the 18th of April 2011. Tickets are €10/€8 and all proceeds go to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Full line-up is as follows
