This wouldn't work nowadays because your only offside if you receive the ball now which means you can gain an advantage from being offside in the modern game. I prefer the old system because it allowed teams to play offside traps, how many teams play offside traps now?. It took alot of skill and practice to defend like this.
@ambarkumar yeah it used to be if any player is offside, then the opposition gets a free kick, but now it's only if the player is interfering with play

@dalles80 I think that you're totally right. The former rule was unfair and frustrating for the attackers, and made it very simple to defend.
