the rat pack is "my kind of" group! love them. there is a band in L.A. that would make Frankie and the gang smile. they are some swanky cool swingsters. ck them out.
Luckily for us, Johnny Carson replaced Joey Bishop at the last minute when Bishop couldn't host the show due to some sort of ailment. I never knew about the closed circuit broadcast, which explains the fact that it was filmed.
The products of American Idol are a joke compared to these guys....true artists/entertainers.....not some glorified karaoke singer. These guys were the real deal.
@5Cirrus When you get new make singers ermeging from American Idol and they sing the standards, they always are transparent copies of Sinatra's style of singing and they never are themselves they try and be hip like Sinatra by even trying to dress cool. They dont have their own persona and really copy and become cheap imitations of legends that cannot be topped.
@NFitalianGuy That is the truth. If you look at rock and pop acts back then they were all very unique and had their own style. Now the music business people tend to look for a certain sound and look and rarely venture out of the safe zone to find a unique talent.
@5Cirrus Very well said, my friend, I totally agree. There really isn't a frenzy out there when it comes to someone really knocking us dead with their voice and style the way Sinatra, Elvis & Judy Garland did.
Had the opportunity to attend this 'Rat Pack' concert at the Keil Opera House. Sadly, came down w/the flu--drat the luck!
The closest I ever came to FS was two years ago seeing Frank Jr. at the Touhill. It was fantastic--all built around his dad! If you closed your eyes, you'd swear it was Francis Albert. Wish he'd come to STL again!
Thanks for posting this video. Any more hidden in the wings?
with a purpose. I wonder how many of those Robbing Hoods who the concert benefited gave some measure of thanks...by becoming productive..or writing a thank you note.

Leave it to the Rat Pack to donate their time and talents to The Convicts. The least of these and Dean Martin is a Catholic.

Was Johnny Carson pinch hitting for Joey Bishop? 1965 may have been the pinnacle but we didn't know it at the time.
