@Epochofbelief Yes... as proven by our fantastic shows such as "my family" "Coming of Age" and "Kirsty's home videos" Jesus, I'm so sick of people saying "huh huh British Humor is amazing" All they're ever referring to is Ricky Gervais and John Cleese.... just 2 guys and they're both English... so why is it that Britain gets credit?. As an English person I know hundreds of British Citizens and less than one tenth of them have the capacity to even understand the humor in this.
@Epochofbelief oh shut up, all the office influences were AMERICAN. I'm english and i hate pointless ignorance and snobbery spouted by cretins like you, son.
@teachmeguitar Ha ha I remember almost choking on a beer when I first heard him say that on the series.. missed most of what followed because I was dying...
Major cringe factor but super-compelling viewing on account of Gervais's convincing portrayal of the David Brent character - pure genius. Every nuance and every tonal inflection is honed to absolute perfection - I can watch this scene every week for years to come and it doesn't lose it's world-class comedic value!!
I agree, Gervais in 'The Office' is exceptional. However, I believe the reason he is so good as Brent, is because he is really just exaggerating a part of his own personality. Gervais is a lot like Brent - just take a look at the Karl Pilkington pod-casts and director commentaries.....

love this scene even though its hard to watch without cringing, i guess thats why ricky gervais is such a genius. you totally get involved in his character.. class.
Maximum CRINGE factor!!! That was painful but compelling to watch - poor idiot! Amazingly convincing though - you actually believe and buy into his character!
I think the American version of the office...lol....just kidding...wouldn't even go there. Scenes like this speak for themselves, regardless of where it originates. Brilliant script writing, brilliant acting, no need for comparisons. Watching someone sink so badly in 5 mins is so painful to watch, but Brent is such a loveable idiot!
Love this. You can tell that Brent has worked so hard on his "I don't agree with that in the workplace!" routine, which he obviously thinks is some kind of contribution to the pantheon of British comedy, and when that falls flat, he resorts to plan B: Harry Enfield impressions. Tragic and hilarious, at the same time.
@mysharona20000 oh I'm glad you mentioned this issue. I would like to take this opportunity and write that the UK version is so much better than the US one. Thank you.

This is awesomely brilliant, only the British can provide comedy like that, painful, cringe-worthy and hilarious at the same time.

this is like a greek tragedy in 5 minutes. everything he believes about himself is destroyed in about 200 seconds

That little phrase, ''no need'', admirably encapsulates what an idiot David Brent is.

I think you'd get 1000/1 odd's on that one. Really is pathetic how people carry on.

@mysharona20000 lmfao, don't be silly. With every Office video, there's a 100% chance of there being a flame war.
