Looks like you were very scared as you´re moving uncontrolled.
2 mistakes:
1.) leave the fish further away hanging down on your spear so you don´t have to deal with the fish and have your hands free to poke him with the gun. You lost your knive so no killing the still living fish which is the source of his interest
2.) Always stay calm and let him approach you to be ready and poke him really.
With your panic and the living fish close to you it´s actually surprising he didn´t really attack you!

I would give up the fish. It's not worth being bitten by a shark. That happened to a guy a couple of months ago after he shot a grouper in the Palm Beach area. The guy ended up in the hospital with a bite to the leg.

@drox69 Lol definitely not a Mako or a bull, bulls are more darker more of a tanish color and have a circular head. Makos have a similar body of this shark, but the color of mako shark is blue and their body is a lot narrower and have a pointy nose, they guy also speared a sheepshead and they dont live far from shore, makos usually live atleast 50miles offshore. This is a Black tip if not a Spinner shark but most likely a Blacktip

Hey, I'm a fellow scuba diver and have been diving for a few years. I have my Advanced Open Water Certification, and from watching this I bet you were sucking a lot of air. A lot stress plus a lot of jerking movements equals air consumption. Glad your ok though.

Will the shark attack or try to swim away if you were to shoot it with the speargun? I have always wondered. Fortunately there are no dangerous sharks in Denmark, unless its possible getting swallowed by a basking shark, however I don't think thats plausible.
@brutsi if you shoot the shark it will most likely swim away (unless they are in frenzy mode then get out of there) but most of the time you dont need to shoot it just poke it. if shooting be careful that your spear dosen't penetrate the shark or there goes your gear. 9 out of every 10 sharks i see including tiger sharks just need a little poke and they swim away. but if its that 1 that wont leave forget the fish and get out. its not worth your life.

Agreed! Also reload that gun, you dropped your knife, so that way you still have something. And I prefer the metal stringer. Bout 30$ but you don't have to worry about getting tangled. a shark shield is the way to go it sends out an electric pulse that scares sharks but not the fish, nothing will work better than a shark shield I can gaurantee it but they are expensive
Believe it or not but a rope or hose connected to your body as to look like a stinger tail will deter sharkes as they dont take fish with stingers.Yes its danderouse and looks stupid.I personaly dont do it but have seen it twice.Im not talking about the electric pulse things but they work without the pulse turned on anyway.Its the cord there wary of.Feel free to test my story

Ive had this happen 4-5 times, its pretty common were i am. just something else to get use to. just stay aware and your fine. plan on getting a shark soon though, damn good eating
learn from his mistakes and you'll be fine. NEVER panic and swim away like that. the shark will see that your afraid and only get more aggressive usually attacking when you are about to exit the water. the correct thing to do is always dive with a partner or (although sounds crazy) stay calm and swim towards the shark and try to poke it with your speargun. if you appear aggressive the shark will likely back down or atleast be detered from attacking although it may stay around.
If you speared the shark and just swam to shore with it I'd lol

In Zambezi / Africa they swim up several hundert kilometers up to the rivers
(also other rivers worldwide) an kill more people than an other shark species

I have had big bullsharks come up over and around me under the bridges down here in the keys"they love Tarpon" but they dont bother me. But usually if I see a Hammerhead or Tiger I go someplace else.

Hey, I'm a fellow scuba diver and have been diving for a few years. I have my Advanced Open Water Certification, and from watching this I bet you were sucking a lot of air. A lot stress plus a lot of jerking movements equals air consumption. Glad your ok though.

Will the shark attack or try to swim away if you were to shoot it with the speargun? I have always wondered. Fortunately there are no dangerous sharks in Denmark, unless its possible getting swallowed by a basking shark, however I don't think thats plausible.

@brutsi if you shoot the shark it will most likely swim away (unless they are in frenzy mode then get out of there) but most of the time you dont need to shoot it just poke it. if shooting be careful that your spear dosen't penetrate the shark or there goes your gear. 9 out of every 10 sharks i see including tiger sharks just need a little poke and they swim away. but if its that 1 that wont leave forget the fish and get out. its not worth your life.

Agreed! Also reload that gun, you dropped your knife, so that way you still have something. And I prefer the metal stringer. Bout 30$ but you don't have to worry about getting tangled. Also if you get the b shaped one then you've got one more thing to use as a weapon. But good job not giving up fish! Don't teach sharks humans = food. Keep up the good work bro!

a shark shield is the way to go it sends out an electric pulse that scares sharks but not the fish, nothing will work better than a shark shield I can gaurantee it but they are expensive

Believe it or not but a rope or hose connected to your body as to look like a stinger tail will deter sharkes as they dont take fish with stingers.Yes its danderouse and looks stupid.I personaly dont do it but have seen it twice.Im not talking about the electric pulse things but they work without the pulse turned on anyway.Its the cord there wary of.Feel free to test my story

learn from his mistakes and you'll be fine. NEVER panic and swim away like that. the shark will see that your afraid and only get more aggressive usually attacking when you are about to exit the water. the correct thing to do is always dive with a partner or (although sounds crazy) stay calm and swim towards the shark and try to poke it with your speargun. if you appear aggressive the shark will likely back down or atleast be detered from attacking although it may stay around.
