What manga school did you go to? I've been looking at an art college that has courses for manga called Nihon Kogakuin College. I do want to become a manga artist and all but I haven't found a lot of people doing what I want to do.

Ummm...I've got a question. I'm 19 and I'm going to finish university first and when I'm done I'll be around 22 years old( If the world is still intact that is!). I'm very good at drawing manga and I've got all my friends, my family, (even people I do not really know sometimes) telling me that I would be very good as a manga-ka. Do you think that if I continue to practice my manga skills until I'm 22, I'll get the chance of becoming such an artist? I'm also practicing Japanese, just in case...

@Slhtubit92 i think you should do what makes you happy and if drawing makes you happy and you can really make something out of it i think you should go for it. i don't see why not. if you finish university then go ahead and do it. if you don't make it in the manga thing you've still got your degree from university so you can make a living out of that. you've got nothing to lose.

A school is a school learning is what it is

its the application of what you learn. being a mangaka, their is more of a

opprotunity for it in america don't just go to japan! Japan is a whole other place indie all the way!

Im 14 and i wanna be a mangaka but i get discouraged cuz i live in new york and it seems that the only way to actually become a mangaka is to go to japan.Is there students from other countries that also attend the manga school?

im actually going to Kyoto next summer and im gonna start learning japanese soon.

yeah kinda of a vacation thing.But im gonna use my time there to learn about the culture

and stuff like that.im staying there for the whole summer.Im going with my sister in law because she has a house we can stay at in kyoto.

but hopefully in the future i can go as a foreign exchange student:)

I got no diploma or official stuff, but since I was little I can paint, draw and model (real and digital), I use no technique just from the eye you know, it comes naturally, can I get a job without a diploma ?

do you think that if you had time that you could have made close friends at school even with the age difference? I'm planning on getting a BFA before I go to manga school. but I mainly want to go to manga school to make friends and that might be hard if I'm (guessing) 4 years older than the other students.

(seriously i can't remember) actually there were kids taking the night classes after high school classes, and even people in their mid 40s. the age thing wasn't an issue. there was one man that i did befriend and he was nice until he found out i was married. ...doh.
