all right, I've been considering, against my more logical judgement, to try for the SEALs. I've got only a year left between me and enlisting anyway, but I'd like to think of myself as a thinker. I'm a rather small guy, and I was hoping if anyone had any advice for me with this. my primary quality that may allow me to get through the training is base relentlessness, since my size inhibits me from being a muscled powerhouse atm. any thoughts?
@al3x1103 Its not about muscle or even strength. Yeah you do need those things to be able to do the training, but believe it or not a lot of it is mental power. You gotta dig deep to find out if that is really what you want with your life. I'm going into BUD/S Orientation in a few months and I know there is a chance I won't make it, but I will give it my all and I won't stop. This is where I am meant to be. First decide that, then talk to a mentor about physical training.

Plus the added reliability of an AK is probably highly valued in extended operations where you have no supplies and can't clean your weapon thoroughly.

@SpyOpz94 Why? Because they try to make medical nerds into something that resembles a special force and is the reason why they have 90% failure rate. They tried that with the Navy and a butt load of hospital corpsman failed miserably. Then they realize it was easier to get a graduated SEAL and train him as medic instead. You can tell the difference in there training. The SEALs are more huskier than the PJ's. I know, I have watch both documentary already.

Sorry to burst your bubble, I was a Navy Medic or Hospital Corpsman and I can tell you specific exercise do bring out different muscle group. The fact that I can see all the SEALs looking more buffer than the PJs, tells me that they are really going through a different training regiment. Ask any body builder.

They were very competitive in sports like biking, mountain climbing, running, and swimming during their youth. Where the Navy appeals to people within all the ranks of the Navy, with its 007 like life style. I believe PJ's mainly appeal to medical personnel in the Air Force causing them to have a higher failure rate. You shouldn't even try and compare the two. That is an insult.

Yeah? They often use weapons that are compatible with their enemy combatants. For tactical reasons. You can use your enemies ammunition. Along with the discharging that sounds exactly like the enemies friendly rifles therefore firing could be perceived to be friendly by the enemies.

@kirbi55 The purpose of using that type of weapon is that you become difficult to track since your bullets and spent cartridges are the same as your enemy's. Also you can resupply with enemy ammo. Plus the added reliability of an AK is probably highly valued in extended operations where you have no supplies and can't clean your weapon thoroughly.

I will admit America isn't a perfect country and pulls some crap, but we also help alot of people. We helped Afg during the Soviet Invasion by supplying weapons and training. Most of the US presence in Afg was established POST 9/11. Iraq attacked one of our allies (Kuwait) and Saddam Insane had to be stopped. We aren't "pulling out with our tails...
