Some Soviet subs in the cold war acheived 43 knots submerged, a speed and record as yet unequalled, Astutes stated top speed is 29 knots however the RN and UK goverments have always been conservative with numbers, im sure her true speed and diving depth are deeply classifed information but not likely to be much faster than numbers stated.
@robert140602 he probably meant 70km, and even that is way too much, maximum speed for a large hunter killer sub (attack sub) is around 30 knots or 55km, submarines are simply put too massive to go any faster, and than you have pressure and drag issues and faster the sub goes easier is to detect.
So you really want you submarine to travel at 15-18 knots and be ultra quiet and only use speed when it tries to avoid torpedoes, max speed for a torpedo might be around 70 knots (50 knots normally)
