It actually looks really cluttered in the video, but having used it for a month, I have yet to see it so untidy. It's nothing like Premiere...except maybe the tabs. Great, great tool. I am alive because of MC tonight.
@GuessCheck32 AFAIK there will be a 299$ upgrade. but i started a discussion at the avid forum and invite everyone who reads this to join in: it is in the community.avid forums

One other thing the product info forget to mention is that you can now customize your UI much more. Also, AMA files are no longer shown as yellow. There's a masterclip with a link icon to mark AMA files.
That might be an issue if you're a Windows user but in OS X 32 bit and 64 bit programs live side by side on either the 32 bit or 64 bit OS X kernel. Also, Media Composer 6 runs on Snow Leopard or Lion so if you must keep a PowerPC program sticking with Snow Leopard is fine. Lion wants to boot in 64 bit but Snow Leopard has to be made to run the 64 bit kernel. Either way, if you run Media Composer 5.5 you can run Media Composer 6
You know why my EXCITEMENT PLUMMETED? 64bit, AE CS5 did it to me now my go to Editing Software, my machine is 64Bit compatible BUT, it has software programs that I use that throughout the years I cannot possible migrate over :( well I guess I'll stick with 5.5 until much further notice :)
Very pro toolish

Dunno about you guys, but it looks like Premiere pro.
DralnuduLouvre 3 months ago
@DralnuduLouvre It's not actually like that once you get into the UI...it's still Avid. Which is good.
SenorCajones 2 months ago
@SenorCajones Of course it is, it just reminded me of PP. Media Composer FTW.
DralnuduLouvre 2 months ago
@DralnuduLouvre but it doesn't work like Premiere...Avid wins!
ARTISTICLYSTUPID 1 month ago
@ARTISTICLYSTUPID I know it's lot better than Premiere Pro, but it just reminds me of it.

Um. Kinda looks exactly like Premiere Pro Dockable UI and layout. I like it!

@aJBprods Fortunately, in actual use it doesn't look or behave like Premiere. It's still Avid...still the best.

@Mediagix Stay with your version. The real change that I noticed was just AMA doesn't have as many issues, but I don't even use AMA.

Can i turn off and remove SMART TOOL toolbar ? ;)
RockabillySarin 4 months ago 5
@RockabillySarin The "smart" tool is shite. Avid is trying too hard to make everything look and feel like Final Cut Pro. It's annoying.
CallingAllMusicians 3 months ago 2
@RockabillySarin You can turn off SMART TOOL just click the border of SMART TOOl.

@OCUBOX I'm confused by your statement. How does this new version being 64-bit bode negatively for you if your machine is 64-bit compatible?
kentonvannatten 4 months ago
@kentonvannatten it's obviously Great, not for me though, as I'll need a completely new machine :(
