i'm tuned to open D tuning (D,A,D,F#,A,D) i hook my thumb over the top to form chords on the 4th,5th and 6th strings which leaves the 1st 2nd and 3rd open to create harmonics. sounds tuff but it easier than playing in standard tuning once you get past the tuning part..
