  • I guess this version of the song was always the interpretation of the song that I took. To me, doing it this way gets at someone who wants to show their affection for someone, but somehow can't do it (for whatever reason). It can of course be taken the other way that you can easily do it and its what you want to do and you are together. I very much enjoy this one as opposed to the Beatles interpretation, but that's just me.

  • Very nice video, lyrics coming in time. Thank you for your effort!

  • And when I touch you, I feel happy inside...

  • was she lesbian in the movie??

  • @888myohmy888 yes :)

  • The original is great too, its all cheery, but I love this more :) I wanna hold your hand, babe :)

  • Mr .cocker is a genius

  • beautifull

  • DAMN COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!!

  • 25 people very very lonely people don't want their hands to be held...sad.

  • Im trying to look for the instrumental version of this song! Can somebody help me? Im planning on singing it in a talent show and I think the across the universe version has a beautiful cover for it. Although, obviously, it can never beat the original sung by the beatles.

  • I wish i hade her voice!

  • @MGejnevall it's lovely :)

  • i love this song. and i like it being sung my a girl.

  • Why does it matter if she's a lesbian or not? Does it matter? This song is universal; it can be song by anyone for whoever. It's about loving someone and admiring them, and all you want to do is hold their hand. Pure and simple.

  • best cover in the entire movie. beautiful.

  • The song is 2 fast for the lyrics!!!

  • I very rarely comment, when you discriminate, try to think deeper than your skin and remember we all bleed red! Have more patients for others and yourself and Faith!

  • i hate when people in there comments discriminate lesbians gays bi's so what? they still can have beautiful voices too!

  • your late on the words

  • i love this movie and the song and her being a lesbian has nothing to do with how good the song is, the song the beatles wrote it (there boys).

  • Really nice lyrics coming after she sings the phrases. That kinda makes it impossible to sing along if you don't remember the text. fail

  • The fact that Prudence being a lesbian is even a factor in the enjoyment of this song for some people just goes to show how backward our society still is.

  • I think they chose the perfect song to reveal her as a lesbian. <3

  • Well, now I've got THREE versions of one song on my iPod--The Beatles' version, Glee's version, and Across The Universe's version.

    They're all worth it.

  • @sherrycq omg yes. you are wonderful

  • @sherrycq same song yet so different emotions

  • i love the bass like crazy in this version of the song

  • @IlgrandeMasna lol sure is, bud.

  • @IlgrandeMasna it is from across the universe i believe its like 5 maybe 15 minutes into the movie

  • @IlgrandeMasna have you seen across the universe?? its when prudence sings to another cheerleader towards the start of the movie

  • @IlgrandeMasna yeah it is its in the beginning

  • @IlgrandeMasna Well no the song isnt, its from The Beatles...but this version does come from Across the Unvierse...

  • @IlgrandeMasna um yeah it deffinately is I just watched it..

  • 21 people are homophobes.

  • @TheDangerousDinosaur

Yeah, and so is everyone who hates Glee's cover.

    Please. Lamest dislikes joke ever.

  • its not like she can control the way she feels, i think people should be able to fall in love with whoever they want... no matter what gender <3

  • IFeel Sorry For Those 21 People Who Suffer From Hearing Loss

  • never saw the movie nor will i ever lol ,but i think the song is so cool ,i have to dance to this song so tht is why i like it!:) okay no hate

  • love this song and love this movie.

  • And I the only one tht notices how slow the lyrics r poping up?

  • Good song, great voice. Not better than the original though :)

  • Me encanta esta cancion y mas viniendo de esta peli...

  • They did the best covers ever, period.

  • does anyone have the bass tabs?

  • i love this song just beautiful

  • This version is so beautiful.

  • i love this version :] this ones a lot slower but it still sounds great. this and the original are both amazing :]

  • Haters, gtfo.

  • She has an AMAZING voice. I love this movie soo much!

  • I liked this song better when John, Paul, George, and Ringo played it.

  • I love this song. :)

  • why dont you on que

  • what does it matter if she is a lesbian...it was written to a girl from a guy.....that's all that matters...its a beautiful song

  • @ROXXEEHART xD That's not what matters! It makes no difference what gender wrote it, nor what the gender of the person they were thinking of was. What matters is the emotion that was poured into the words and the music.

When it comes to love, all of these meaningless labels and identities melt away, and all that is left are two individuals, bearing their hearts freely to the other.

  • @Seraph821 thank u! lol i was gona say..

  • Beatles sing it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better

  • @ulmar08 Opinion.

  • how dont know she like girls omg love the movie

  • i wanna hold his hand. btw no offense but the lyric time sucks

  • i love this version

  • She does have a beautiful voice but I am a HUGE Beatles fan so I honestly don't like it when anyone who doesn't have a voice good enough for their songs, do covers of their songs

  • You'll let me be your man?!?! Isn't this a girl singin!?

  • @robinal1504 in the film, the girl thant sing this version is lesbian

  • @robinal1504 yes, but she's a lesbian. Watch the movie and you'll understand. She want's the be the man in the relationship.

  • @VeritasVacuus actually, I would consider her bi-sexual, since, there was a scene in the movie where she told "Lucy", that she stopped having sex with Jude and Lucy's brother.

  • @IconVanity I don't think thats what she said. She said that she was living with them, but no having sex. That she wasn't 'into that' anymore. If I remember correctly. I may be wrong, but I don't think so x_x

  • @littleaprilroses - actually, here's the transcript of that moment when Prudence first started talking to Lucy at Sadie's performance--> Prudence: Isn't she fantastic? Lucy: Amazing. Prudence: She's our landlady. Lucy: You live with my brother too? Prudence: Yeah, him and Jude took me in. I don't sleep with them anymore.

  • @IconVanity I'm still pretty sure she didn't mean 'them' as in Jude and Lucys brother, I think she was generalizaing guys in general when she said 'them' I dont give a damn either way though, lolz. I just watched the vid for the song xD Go with what you wanna. :]

  • @littleaprilroses - if Prudence meant "them" as in the male gender in general, she would have said just that e.g. I don't sleep with guys/males anymore. But because the word "them" came right after her statement of "Yeah, him and Jude took me in.", the word "them" is a direct reference to both Lucy's brother and Jude. It's basic grammar.

  • @IconVanity Again, I honest to God don't care. I was just making a comment x_x I still don't think she meant she was sleeping with Jude and Lucy's brother. But whichever, doesn't personally matter at all to me. Lolz. :)

  • @littleaprilroses - If you don't care as you claim and it doesn't personally matter to you at all, then you wouldn't have tried to correct me 3 times so far. I can see you are not very bright, so, I'll ignore any more responses from you.

  • @IconVanity That seemed really unnecessary. I was just stating my personal opining on the subject. You didn't have to be a complete jackass. I was just trying to state my point to you. Christ, when did we resort to childish name-calling?

  • carpio is talented as fuck O__o

  • lyrics r slow

    but great amazing song

  • this reminds me of the girl i love, but she doesnt like me that way :'(

  • @Reaver1223 aawww dat sucks cheer up someone better will come aong

  • im sorry bt i dnt like this cover

this is my me and my bfs song <3

  • due.. be faster by the lyrics so i can read the text while i´m hearing the same.. but great sound :) thoms up from me :) better luck next time

  • i love the beatles, but this version is the cats pajamas

  • What people sing this

  • Brave?

    Nice voice.

  • Yes, the beatles are fantastic- but this version is very good, you've gotta admit :)

  • The original version is better. =|

  • HOW THE FUCK COULD YOU DO THIS TO A SONG!?!?!?

    FUCK YOU

  • @stereotypeyou They didn't DO this to the song - the cinemtaic production of the film 'Across the Universe' did this. Don't get your trousers in a tizzy because you've got a single-minded aproach to music.

  • Dude...what did they do to this song. I'll tell you..they killed it..it's ruined...why....the original was a million time better

  • i liked this song even before the movie came out and made it a "lesbian only" song, now if i sing it i'm queer, where's the justice?

  • Oh come on guys! it doesn't matter who is right and who is wrong she has a lovely voice, no she has an AMAZING lets just admire it and stop arguing. <3

  • when i saw this movie i changed it made me trip and feel i was like well this is cool in the begining and when the buss sean i was like MY FACE --->@_@ omg this movie is epic at the all you need is love sean 0_0 omg fucking amazing

  • prudence isn't a lesbian she's bi. she does sing to the cheerleader and sadie. but she also slept with max and jude. and before she moned in with them she had a boyfriend that would hit her. she latter get the girl friend from the circus. i just watched this movie earlyer today.

  • @lexxieyKay you obviously didnt understand that she was a prostitute, and the guy who hit her was her pimp.

  • i fucking love this song

  • i fucking love this song im singing it for mi skool talent show

  • i hope u win :)

  • @Billymaysfan6837 we all know the beatles are great, but so is TV Carpio. she is a really great singer and even if you dont like her you shouldnt be such an ass about, so grow up.

  • please ppl who make video's w lyric: make them fit the music! this is a bit irritating..

  • i love her voice :)i dont care if shes a lesbian or not but its awesome.

  • this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i watched that movie 2 days ago...n i LOVE her voice!! :D

  • Try bringing the lyrics in quicker

  • wow people get a life and stop fighting over youtube. It's a movie take it for what its worth. If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

  • Poor Prudence never got the cheerleader...or sadie! but at least she got the extortionist :D Man! I love that movie! and im singing this version song for my music practical...

  • @crazyrockchick101 You're searching for "contortionist" not "extortionist." Contortionist is a flexible acrobat. Extortionist is someone who blackmails someone and demands extravagant amounts of money.

  • dot judge her shes a good singer it shouldnt what sex she was into in the movie. and so what its just the character she plaayed and i happen to think she has the best damn voice on a lesbain ive ever heard

  • lol

  • okay for the last time to those ppl who come on here to insult true fans, PRUDENCE LIKE GIRLS, SHE SINGS THIS SONG TO THE CHEERLEADER, THEN SHE SINGS I WANT YOU TO SADIE WHEN SHE SEES HER KISSING JOJO, THEN SHE INTRODUCES HER GF TO EVERYONE AFTER THE CIRCUS SCENE, OMFG WATCH THE DAMN MOVIE, GOOGLE IT, IMDB IT, WIKIPEDIA IT, IT SAYS IT THERE!!!! STOP INSULTING TRUE FANS YOURE OBVIOUSLY NOT ONE IF YOU DONT KNOW THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lmao okay, well... idk i dont really care anymore, calm your shit. its just a movie that i so happened to make a comment on lol get over it.

  • Oh whatever! Go ahead call me what ever you want to call me! I dont fucking care about you and what you think about me! I don't even know you so don't go bossing me around! Oh and you don't have to yell and people who HAVENT SEEEN THE MOVIE IN 3 YEARS AND FORGOT BITCH!

  • @KYMSHADY When I saw her singing this song, I really thought she was singing to the football player haha but then I realized after the rest what was going on. It is an amazing movie, who cares if she likes girls? Does that make her singing less great? Does it make the movie less awesome? Does it make the Beatles less legendary? No.

  • @Haeinscute what? she likes gurls? i thought it was the football player lol iv thought that for like 2 years... lol sorryim a blonde

  • @KYMSHADY I UNDERSTOOD THIS THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED THE MOVIE! ITS NOT HARD TO CATCH PEOPLEE!!! i LOVE THIS MOVIE BTW <3

  • @KYMSHADY

yeah i didnt get it at the beginning, but later on in the movie i understood! XD

  • @KYMSHADY thts right i love this movie and the beatles

  • HAhahhaha SHE ISSSSS a lesbian :P lol. it says it the movie. (the part where she climbs in the window) :P lmao :)

  • i think the across the universe versions of songs are better than the beatles' versions.

  • @livingnalaska she is a lesbian....hence why shes singing this song to the cheerleader she likes....and why she gets hurt when she falls in love with Sadie but finds out Sadie loves Jo-Jo.....

  • @livingnalaska she is singing to the cheerleader in the movie, not the football player. so yea, she kind of is a lesbian.

  • Vaya que gran voz.

  • I think point that is being missed is the is a big budget art house movie. Her sexuality isn't relevant. Prudence represents the sexual revolution. Her freedom and pain come from the the new sexuality of the culture. Each character represents a part of the 60's Revolution racially, politically, socially, artistically. Radicalism is the only part of the revolution (surprisingly enough) not romanticized in this movie,

  • well put

  • idc what she is in the movie, she has a great voice and this a great song

  • @efmgals7898 she's Prudence.

  • Exactly what I was thinking too...

  • She is Bi.... Its clearly obvious. Shes totally into chicks first of all. Singing to the cheerleader in the beginning, then upset when she finds out Sadie is with the black guy. Then when they all get high in the tent in the middle of nowhere she walks out and introduces some girl to Lucy saying "This is *blah blah* shes a contortionist" (meaning very bendable person. able to bend and move the body in near impossible ways.) HINT HINT!

  • Personally I think she's bisexual. And in the bar, she said I'm not sleeping with him anymore, not men, referring to Max. I think she might have had a thing for both Sadie and Max. Also when she came through the window she had a black eye, and in the song she said "say to ME 'you let me be your man'" so I think that football player started dating her and beat her, which is why she ran away. So I think she is bi.

  • I just read these comments and I so did not know she was a lesbian!!!!! 0.o I need to see that movie again now... I love it!! But I haven't had the time to see it again...

ALSO LOVE THIS SONG AND SINGING ALONG TO THE VIDEO xD

  • what the hell is your people problem she is not lesbian she is just sining the song the way it goes! next time when you're sining this say woman or girl instead of man and see how that sounds weird well she cant just go sining the song all weird retards

  • Comment removed

  • she is a lesbian, in the movie. she was singing the song to the cheerleader. afterwards when lucy arrives to new york, Prudence specifically says to her in the club "i don't sleep with (men) anymore." Then she sings "i want you" to Sadie. while Sadie is playing around with Jojo. Lucy says "do you think sadie knows?" That's why she was hiding inside that room when they were singing Dear prudence she was sad because Sadie didn't like her.

  • well thats true i just saw the movie again last night i havent seen it in over 3 years

  • it's okay, i had to watch the movie like 3 times to realize it.

  • Comment removed

  • This song gives me goosebumps like crazy!

  • its because they didn't change the lyrics from the original but don't forget it was paul who sang this so it was originlay for a woman not a man. "please say to me you'll let me be your man"

  • Comment removed

  • chriscoolpants,. She was singing it to a woman too. In the movie,. she was gay.

  • Comment removed

  • Prudence was first in love with the girl beside the football player, and then fell in love later with the land lady Sadie. Yes, this does make her a lesbian.

  • No she was in love with the cheer leader next to him.

  • haha, did anyone hear how she sang "happy"?

but anyway, this song was my favourite in the movie

  • yeah i agree the lyrics are way off please learn to time

  • Learn to time the lyrics probably with the song retard

  • haha everyone has there own opinion, i personally think that she was a lesbian singing to the cheerleader, and then the women who was the lead singer in the band. Believe what
