@ThePicko94 This video is four years old and at the time I drove a lot. I currently run a set of 35" MTR's and 39" Pitbulls. In all honesty the MTR's do great in west coast terrain and ride better and last a lot longer than more aggressive tires. FYI boggers suck except in the mud and Maxxis tires are grossly overpriced.
@evilwhitey98 could probably knock ever other lug off the MTR's like they do with boggers to make them more aggressive. Good all-round tires for sure though.
This is an amazing video. Those trucks just dont stop for anything do they?.Love that tire and suspension setup.I want to set my 97 Tacoma up to do this kind of wheelin'.Thanks for the video!!!
@coltonday1 To Holister hills? NO!!! Not unless you're participating in the Top Truck Challenge. I worked out there at the time of this video so it was only an hour away.
@skylercourney It had sound until youtube decided to remove it. I no longer have the source files minus the music so oh well. Thanks youtube and the greedy music industry.
this is lovely, everyone should experience the joy of being able to take your vehicle where ever you want i no i do!!!! i got a 89 v6 5speed with a 5" lift and 35x12.5's
@evilwhitey98 Ive been told Procomp is crap. Ive got a 85 extra cab and wondering what brand of lift to go with? Some one told me Rough Country is a good brand. Maybe Skyjacker?
Nice wheeling man...agreed with above, those are some tough ass tires. BTW---girl in the passenger seat at 5:38 can be my copilot anytime :) Yall need to come out to Georgia and do some wheeling >: )
It's a trail gear 3" kit that I modified a bit. basically moved the front axle two inches further than it would have gone with the kit. Fits 39" Pitbull Maddogs now.
@evilwhitey98 how did you modify it to get the axle frwd 2" more? I have a allpro 4" kit on mine and wanted to move my axle frwd but was wondering how you did it with out mving the front spring hanger frwd..... cause mine is flush with the crossmember in the front....do you have a build thread on pirate4x4? Thanks for any info :)
@Mauistyl Actually I extended my front spring hanger forward 2" and set my shackle tubes forward 2" as well. It was really simple. No build thread on pirate4x4, sorry.
would you tell me what kind of shocks you are using , i mean size and everythig, and what kind of spring or pier (im not sure if this is the rigth termn) thanks a lot
@gyrenejoe pretty sure its the reg 4x4 one. the 2x4s have diff fenders so the grill is not as tall and requires modification to put a 4x4 grill on a 2x4 i think a 2x4 would have a gap thats just a 93 and up grill i do believe
I put a 89' 4x4 grill with 4x2 fenders and 4x2 side markers on my truck, it all fits like it should. I put the 4x2 fenders on because they are 2" narrower then the 4x4 fenders, helps me see whats ahead better. Check my vid to see it.
No Tacoma's there. Those are called Mini's. B/c the Tacoma hadn't been introduced yet. & it's not a Jeep either, another comment I expect from a 5 y.o.
The solid axle in the mini won't fit in a Tacoma. The transfer case drop sides changed in 95 WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE TACOMA. You have to cut the knuckles off a Mini housing and flip it over and reweld them. Might have to cut & turn the ring the diff bolts to IDK or care. Don't like Taco's. Not NEAR as good as a MADE IN JAPAN mini or LC.
would you ever consider trading your truck for my truck? I have a 1989 Toyota Pick up 4X4 3VZE 5 speed, it has fiberwerx baja fenders, and a total chaos fabrication 2generation caddy kit (you can still use your 4X4), and lots of other goodies.
Some of my videos do. As mentioned before, I don't have the original video sans music. It was recorded on a digital camera and the sound sucked anyway. Not much to hear with 22re's anyway...
Sorry but Youtube is incredibly gay and deleted the sound track. I no longer have the original files so I can't upload anything with sound without them pulling it again. WMG can kiss my ass!
No, we both drive all over the place. The front axles have hubs so it's not like that's a problem and a rear locker isn't a big deal at all unless you have a really short wheelbase rig and drive a ton in icy areas.
well, i was asking poppycock if his truck has front axle hehe... but anyway, how hard is to intall an axle, if the truck has not one... of course, being 4x4... my girlfriend wants a toyota, and i told her to buy one with a front axle, but she wants a newer truck, like a 94, 95...

Damn, after watching this my 4runner sucks again :(.
I am saving up for gears and lockers right now and about to do a square D-shaft. After that I am wanting some of the new 35" LTBs that are coming out next month. A doubler is still way out there in fantasy land for me... a real suspension would not kill my truck either :D
Yeah I know. But for a long time I was the guy in the club that could get through the most stuff. Now there is another guy with a mini-truck who is locked and has everything Marlin sells on his truck besides the doubler. He just walks through most of the stuff I have trouble with. I still go places he doesn't because he is afraid of tearing his truck up though.
ell I do like him alot, he is my best friend in the club :). We are actually in the process of throwing together a spare rear axle he has with a welded rear diff so that I can remove mine and begin rebuilding it. I am going to be putting a spool and 5.29's in it. I want to find a spare front axle and do the same but put a high pinion electric locker in the front.
im starting to really like those kinds of trucks. they're tacomas right?? im lookin at either a pickup like the ones in this vid, or a 4runner. which would u recommend?
These are actually pre-tacoma (came out in late 95) pickups. The yellow one is an 85 and the grey one is a 93. It's hard to go wrong with either a pickup or 4-runner. Just pick what fits your lifestyle. I wish I had more room and the ability to haul more people so my next rig will probably be a 4-runner.
Alcans probably do hold up about as good as possible on a suspension that cycles like this. The Orange truck has alcans the grey one has Trail Gear springs. The key to making springs last is proper bump stops.
Nice trucks! Wish you could get the IFS ones to work as well. Here in the UK, all the solid axle ones are rare as most have turned to dust cos of all the rain.
The MTR's work fairly well. By far the best all around tire for a vehicle that is driven on the street. My 38.5" SX's were much better in the rocks and maybe a hair better in the snow but for the most part the MTR's have surprised me. I wish they made a 40" MTR that had a C load rating and was cheap!

Thanks guys. They're alright. My brother and I are both going to build a bit more extreme rigs next go around now that we've had a little experience fabbing.
Alcan springs front and rear, the rear springs have joints at one end for more flex and are I think 56" long. The fronts are 51" long with the centerpin moved forward to a point where the axle is about 4" forward from stock. The grey truck's axle is moved about 5" forward of stock and is running trail-gear stuff.
I took my truck (grey) to Total Offroad Design (T.O.R.) in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The owner Eric did a great job on the suspension, gearing my axles and building my bumper (which I used in this vid a couple times).
Serious sick shit.

What suspention setup is being run on the yellow rig?

Alcan springs front and rear, the rear springs have joints at one end for more flex and are I think 56" long. The fronts are 51" long with the centerpin moved forward to a point where the axle is about 4" forward from stock. The grey truck's axle is moved about 5" forward of stock and is running trail-gear stuff.

I took my truck (grey) to Total Offroad Design (T.O.R.) in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The owner Eric did a great job on the suspension, gearing my axles and building my bumper (which I used in this vid a couple times).
