  • Hi,

I just bought 2 of them on a show here in Holland and I want to know what they like to eat beside bramble-leaves.

  • OMG! *slaps forehead* you peeps, CRAzY! lol......well me too. I love insects too, but I thought a "katydid" was the name of the cat in another vid! lol We don't see them much where I'm at. lol

  • i was taking a picture of a katydid last year, i was about 6 inches away. it actually crapped, and used its bag leg to fling it at me. it stuck to the lense of my camera. haha. it was insane

  • augh. i had it in my room yesterday night, i am scared of it.

  • harmless and related to locusts

  • i was waiting for it to jump at the camera

  • i don't get them up where I live. But once, strangely enough, I found one in my den I spazed. So my dad brought it outside for me. But in a way, i think they're kinda cool.

  • I dont know how far noth you live but I am in northern Ohio and we get them every summer.

  • Ohhhhhhhh look it's Katydid! hehe

  • yikes!! She looks huge!

  • Look man, can't you see this poor katydid is trying to make a bank withdrawl? But she can't put in her numeric code with you standing over her shoulder! Show some respect.

    ;)

  • Simply fascinating. What a streamlined appearance (must've got good areodynamics lol) and giant hindlegs.

  • are those the insects that make a loud shapr clicking noise at night?

  • Thanks! My Audubon field guide to Florida had only the Microcentrum.

  • She is beautiful. I love katydids; they're my favorite insect. I raise katydids from little nymphs; they make excellent pets. Oh, they don't bite hard unless you hold them wrong, like by pinching their wings or something (biting is self-defense), otherwise they are very sweet and so cute. You could have slowly put your hand in front of her and she would have climbed on, but you have to move slowly.

  • I asked that question 2 moths ago and I was told yes so I had to see it for myself. At night I went in the back yad and I grabbed a young one. It bit the living shit outta me.

  • Did you bleed?

  • No, their bite doesn't penetrate the skin. Still hurts though, like a forceful pinch if it's a big Katydid. The smaller they are, the less it hurts.

  • Is it true that they bite hard?

  • Wow! What a beautiful insect, so green. Interesting, thanks!
