Love the Procrustes man of stone--laughable yet awesome at the same time--"of stone you are made and by stone you shall be destroyed"--and the Greek myth of Procrustes is rather faithfully followed in that he did try to make people "fit his bed" (although it was Theseus, not Hercules, who killed him in the original myth.
