Yemen is a mess. If they are not able to keep their problems within their borders then it is left to others to get involved. It's ultimately in no one's interest to have a "Failed State". Also remember that the border between Saudi and Yemen has been in dispute for a long time. It was only recently that the governments agreed on the borders...and Saudi started building a fence...or wall...if you wish. They can see no end of trouble coming north. Not everyone is ready for democracy!

what got Yemen into this mess was depravity and negligence by the Yemeni government, and possibly foreign agents secretly aiding rebellious groups.

Did you even read the entire comment? It was addressing the Muslims who parade Muslim captives like trophies or brag "we killed this many of your men." If Saudi Arabia didn't want to get dragged into this mess, they should have gotten involved in terms of mediating a ceasefire and not arming the Yemeni army.
