  • yeah, thanks, but would you please show us how to play?

  • Would be awesome on a Wii

  • I still dunno how this help cure cancer lolz

  • @DuyAnh1 It uses your PS3's un used power and progress and puts it into one big server to search a cure for cancer... Amazing

  • No because the lazy microsoft programmers are to stupid to be able to put a cpu usage limit for it... in other words, if you put F@H on an Xbox it just thinks: aww powerpc processor lets push it to its maximum and then the console overheats and gets rrod and microsoft have to repair yet another console.

  • I'm guessing that Microsoft was too cheap to fund this to run on Xbox Live so they actually just recently made an Inside Xbox video linking you to a website that is somewhat similar and different than folding@home called foldit. Now it's Wii's turn.

  • How do you get the ps3 to do this as it screen saver. So when my retard room mate leaves netflix up it just go back too it?

  • Lol. i have doun 30 uints :D

  • LOL before this i had no idea what Amino Acids were. i was like WTF is this? finalyl when my kickass Biology Teacher explained what it was all of this seemed so awesome.

    School Rox :)

  • I love the jiggly/globby noise the protein makes

  • So does the newer updates not have this in it?

  • It's still here. It's under Network in something called "Life with PlayStation" or something like that.

I've had it running for a couple weeks now when I'm not playing Metal Gear Solid. I just got the console so that's all I have, and I'm at school for much ov the day, so this has much time to run.

  • This is not a game it a f&%king thing the link the power of computers to create a cure for cancer by stanford univesity

  • wtf is folding home

  • your ps3 seems to fold extremely fast, like when in the first couple of mins it was half done, mine taks 3 hrs half done

  • @rockcabbage

Naah,, depends on what folding proteine u get at that moment,

One time u get one with 300000000 iterations... and that u get suddenly one with just 1000000 iterations.. every ps3 folds at the same speed.. using 6 spe's for the the single-precision floating power. it's like the GPU based folding client, ony the cell is slower... it's faster than normal CPU.. but slower than the high performance clients. although the sets are limited, PS3 has shown high increase in folding.

  • i just completed my first thing today :D

idled my ps3 for 7 hrs!

  • DNA? dude what the fuck, it's a amino acid chain. is a protein goddamit!

  • I bet M$ would never have put that on an Xbox by default!

  • When the PS3 is idle I use it to F@H for team HardwareCanucksForum ( 54196) GO CANADA :) looking for a team.please join all welcome.

  • uhmm...whats the point to this "foldong at home" thing? does it try to find cures for cancer and herpes and aids or somthing, im comfused

  • it uses unused processing power and downloads work units on cells and proteins and things to yes help find cures. its something more people should research before complaining about, and we need more contributers. its safe and free.

  • does that look like a double helix to you? looks more like a group of amino acid molecules to me

  • why are there mollicules in a box ?

  • this guy knows nothing about what he is talking about, this is the worst review ever. TALK ABOUT THE ACTUAL PROGRAM NOT WHAT THE RIGHT AND LEFT STICK DOES.

  • what will happen if it downloads 100%

& why doses it say doner

  • What do you do? Do you just sit there and watch atoms move around? That's boring as Hell.

  • Don't be fooled people, they've already cured cancer. So I wonder what diseases they are trying to cure.

  • yeah there is a cure for cancer, but we cant have it because they cant make money with it. the world elite treat us like worthless idiots, this thing looks smart and has pretty colors but we have to atleast question its agenda. how can linking are video game consoles realy help reasearch disease, some thing about this seems a bit strange. please correct me if you know more about this because im kind of curious

  • and they cant give it out coz there is to many people on earth so hiding the cure is what they are doing

  • Your acting just like a typical conspiracy believer.... You have no evidence (actual facts) to support the claim your making... Who told you that? And hopefully your not gunna say Kevin Trudeau or one of his avid followers. Its all bullshit, give me some evidence and then we'll talk...

  • That's amino acids, not DNA.

  • Yer. awusome. I got a team called saving lifes. wanna join enter this code: 147627

Anways this thing is awusome and simple to help

  • do you leave your ps3 on ..all day night???

  • i joined your team i have 3 work units..

  • dam it its not working for me it says error couldnt download from the server which sucks and i am sure that i am connected to the internet guyz can u plz help me i really wanna help in the folding@home process

  • 135477

  • dude DNA isnt like that.. xD

    its a protein chain.. xD

  • I still dont get what you actually do in this? It seems to me its just something that you leave your ps3 on and let it do its thing, which I certainly hope is not the case.

  • after that thing its done... you can control a guy that you create.. its prety much like Sims.. but you can talk to other people.. the problem is that thing in the vid takes 6 hours... =X mine is about 4:45 hours.. it sucks xD

  • this isnt ps3 home its folding at home ps3 home isnt out for a long time in this your putting your ps3 to work for a cure

  • that sounds realy nice but i dont get it how can a ps3 cure a diseasee ??:P docters cure ps3s play games :)

  • join my team save trhe world

    # 133661

  • It's a protein chain!!!! Not DNA!!!!

  • An amino acid chain, therefore, if long enough, a protein, but certainly, not a DNA molecule :)

  • I have used the program like 25 hours.

  • atleast ps3 care about people, unlike xbox

  • amennn man!!!

  • "pretty exciting stuff". Yeah, even crazier than that paint drying simulation that came out last year.

  • your an idiot shutup. Smartass. And if you have a PS3 i suggest you go watch paint dry and let your PS3 serve some use and contribute to Folding@Home and maybe cure a disease you'll get later from sniffing paint

  • Hndshks

  • your an idiot shutup. Smartass. And if you have a PS3 i suggest you go watch paint dry and let your PS3 serve some use and contribute to Folding@Home and maybe cure a disease you'll get later from sniffing paint

  • That would be "you're" or "you are" an idiot, idiot.

  • haha that comeback is kinda weak man

  • What the fuck did you just say? Can someone translate this retard speak to English?

  • it was just txt speak, people use it for comments and things like that, just get used to it, your the retard if you cant make out simple things like: "ppl" for "people" or "4" for "for". Just make an effort fgs. Im assuming your on about a previous comment and not the actually video! coz if you cant understand what the guy in the video is saying then you really are a retard!

  • okay idiots ps3 is better beacause it helps cure a disease also free online and my friend had a 360 for one day and had it on for as long as 30 minutes and it overheated so fuck all of you

  • yep i know what ur talkin about, I'm a sony boy and I'm gonna stay like that, I had both but 360 was sent back and every replacement sent burned and finally i just said keep it fuk, 300$ of stress is what 360 is and I don't need it, PS3 4 life!

  • @kruxtrux4157

stupid asshole, dont make up bullshit about xbox over heating after 30 mins. Also PC is better because it folds more due to it being more powerful, so put that in your pipe and smoke it ass face.

  • @kruxtrux4157 PC "insert retarded smile"

  • it helps see invisible proteins and how they work so they can learn more about them

  • people dont like you, oh and that GadgetMadness guy up there tells you whats going on.

  • i dont know O.o

  • ok someone tell me wat do u do in this?!?

  • LISTEN!!!

  • It's not a "DNA Globule". It's a 3D model of a protein molecule.

  • i downloaded it but i dun know what 2 do

  • all you gotta do is hit "x" on the folding@home icon on your ps3 & viola it starts automatically. then you can chose a name & you put in the # of the team you want to join or you can start your own. its awsome to fold try it out

  • .....ok...

  • ya i had that for a month and pretty much erased it after a while because it takes up a great amount of your memory.... Folding@home is for a good cause but you never know....

  • im not sure weather to sign my PS3 up for this, i mean if it has to run all day and night then my house could burn down cos the ps3 gets pretty hot and i definatly wouldn't run it on an xbox 360 if i had the choice because that would burn my house down

  • You don't have to leave it on, you can fold for however long you want and then quit folding.

  • Thanks for that insite Einstein

  • No problem jerk, you seem to be an xbox 3shitty fanboy and a cocky, smartass one too.

  • and you seem to be a very polite loyal supporter of mega corporation that's just interested in you're money, yet you seem perfectly content to spread make believe comments in order to belittle a rival console... who's the fan boy? I didn't say a bad word about the PS3 nor did I mention any of it's rivals, in any of my comments. (start up you're spell checker Melindhra, spot the mistake)

  • Theres 360 in your name so im guessing you like the xbox. Microsoft is the one just interested in your money you would have to be a complete idiot to deny that. Everything is extra with microsoft where as with sony you actually get a good deal for your money. As for the make believe comments thats wrong because I actually wasnt sure weather to run it or not because my PS3 gets pretty hot but its a known fact that the xbox gets even hotter.

  • Yes the 360 is in my name because that is my Gamer Tag, not because I have an undying love for a games console. You need to wake up because every corporation on this planet wants YOU'RE money! Yes even Sony, that is ALL they want, they make a machine for you're money, not for you're entertainment. Same with everything in life, it's manufactured for consumer's money.

  • As for the fact that the 360 runs hot... umm what's the point in saying that? You can clearly see I own a 360 so I would notice if you make up shit about it, i.e. it runs hot

  • I have an xbox as well as a PS3 which is how I know it gets alot hotter. Of course they want your money just one huge thing you fail to notice is that microsoft wants every penny they can get, they charge for everything where as sony give you free online services built in wi fi. One more thing, some companies do care about giving you a good product. I hope your not one of those "oh no big companies are bad" people.

  • You really need to wake up; all corporations are interesting in just money, that's why they exist, to create a product and to create need for that product. That is a fact of all companies, that is a fact of life.

  • google. that company is focused on putting out good products w/o becoming "an evil company"

  • What I really can't understand is you're need to make up lies to belittle a rivals console... I have a 360, I touch the case, it's at a normal ambient cool temperature... my brother has a PS3 I touch the cover on that and it's warm to the touch. You may continue spreading lies to save you're ego from being bruised and I'm sure all people here will believe you're lies too. Denial is not such a good thing though.

  • I have a 360 too and it overheats ALOT, im lucky though that it hasnt broken and I havent had to send it for a repair. With my PS3 though, it gets a little warm but never overheats.

  • try putting the console up vertical, this will allow for better heat dissipation, I had the same problem with the slimline ps2 but now it runs cool

  • If you are going to insult someone, please spell the word correctly. It's "insight".

  • what is this??

  • Hi users;) Please add chilliberry on youre friendlist, Need some Help, hehe.. ty

  • how this thing can cure cancer?

  • When ur not playin games, put those powerhouse PS3s to good use by running Folding@Home, found in the network section of the menu. Run by Stanford University, the project aims to find out how proteins 'fold' and therefore lead to possible cures in types of cancer and other diseases.

If you are from Australia or New Zealand join my team from Downunder - | Aussie Rules Footy | Team 52735 | otherwise theres also a YouTube team headed by adiblasi team no. 79621

  • thats not dna its a protien strain

  • Im gonna join hte gadged madness team

  • please help my ps3 folding @home # IS 78720

  • I don t know what s folding@home i check the playstation website and i still didn t get it. please lol. reply.

  • Folding@Home is an application which uses the excess CPU of your home computer or the power of your PS3 to compute and simulate protein folding with the intent of understanding Alzheimer's, cancer, and other diseases. It's free and for a good cause.

  • Thanks!

  • ayo boy portugal e ke rula

  • Ps3 can cure cancer!!

  • how do u actuly do the person talking thingi on this thing??

  • join my team please the number is 63597 and my online name is Alexanderthegret

  • oh nvm..i guess i just needed the update

  • i have no idea what i'm doing when i do this on my ps3. it's a globe...with numbers all over the place, saying i'm a donor, and apparently u can join teams, i don't know why, but u can.

  • cool

  • join my team its 63597 please join I wanna try to be #1

  • what is the folding home for.

    is ti a game?

    just to see a globe??

or what is it for, because i saw a program name home but it was to meet other people and you could be a character which you can personalize.

so please answer me what is the fold home for?

  • what u saw is HOME, a 3d environment that let u do a bunch of stuff like make ur house meet players, and go into games with them.folding at home is a program i think where u can help observe the causes of proteins, but u dont have to watch it, just by letting it run u are helping to find cures to diseases like cancer and more.its als on the cpu but isnt as graphical.

  • than's now i have an idea of what is it for.

    thank's i apreciate it

  • my team number is 66597 if you want to join me on folding@home

  • This folding at home approach has some pretty severe problems, namely proteins which fold fast (which is to say over the short timescales simulated) do so in ways which aren't representative of the ways it occurs naturally. Further, the starting conformation needs to be improved, i.e. equilibrated. Still, the idea that people donate their CPUs is great, but PS should let others bid for CPU time.

  • people need to upload more clips like this. I prefer funnier stuff myself, check out dolphinhump. lostfrog . com , I laughed so hard I got kicked out of class! haha.

  • yes ur are rigth there pc and ps3 users on folding at home cpu bandwiths.

  • Great review to let us see, how it looks. Now I want to buy a PS3 =)

  • it's protein, not DNA.

  • You are correct. What the "molecule" represents is the protein and current folding status.

  • funny that you have absolutely no clue on what is happening, but still are supporting it and think it is cool. dumb.

  • That's because it is cool. Last time I checked supporting cures for cancer hadn't hit the dumb list.

  • so is saving the money for a ps3 and giving it to charity. everything could happen in that program. it could just be a screensaver, sending random databurst about how the cellprocessor performs to sony. YOU dont know. thats whats lacking in your "review".

  • What a silly statement to make.

  • It says the yellow dots are roughly PS3 owners, how i know, it says in the corner on my PS3..

  • Hey i also have another question, if you make another video, can you get a close up on the crunching numbers?

  • Thanks for the review, wish i had my ps3 already, but in the mean time i guess ill fold on my pc.

1 question though..i don't think the dots on the map are ps3 users..but all of people on folding@home including pc users, or im i wrong here?

  • Nah, according to the FAQ it is just PS3 users. There are a bit short of 30,000 on every day so it's not surprising how it looks.
