  • For reptile eggs, I used to use a water-filled sterilite tote with a grate above the water, for the vermiculite egg containers. In the water was a submersible aquarium heater set to about 78 degrees that kept the humidity in the tote from 90-100 percent depending on vents, plus the air temp would be within 1-2 degrees of the water.

I was wondering if that sort of set up would work for tarantula eggs (minus the vermiculite, of course) or if the humidity being that high would be problematic.

  • just wondering, anyone can answer this, where do you get the little capsules shown at 5:45 thanks.

  • @markblizzard1298 thortonplastics(DOT)com

  • also the sustrate in my rose hair's tank is a bit moist and im not sure should it be one dry for the sac or can the sub e a little moist? also i dont really think i would wanna rosk moving her and the sac to a dry tank?

  • @lambbolt Have it moist in 1 corner...other than that leave her be!

  • Hey Rob our Chilean rose just laid an egg sac last night!! What are the chances of the egg sac producing young if we just let the mother take care of the sac until they hatch out?

  • @lambbolt Was she mated?

  • thank you very much! great video!

  • i have a b.smithi about 1.5cm and a L.parahybana 1.5cm will they eat already >? or should i w8

  • damn bro u the MAN!

  • @wildman1098 After they molt into 2nd instars keep the\m in the incubator for 5-7 days at day 3-4 I would offer food and water. They will eat together for the first time and take a lot of the work out of it for you.

  • @wildman1098 Give them 7 days.!

  • @wildman1098 2nd instar or they will eat eachother

  • Do you have to turn the eggs in the incubator?

  • @tarantulacc Not at this stage.

  • @tarantulaguy1976 so you only turn them when there eggs and how many times a day? srry if i'm asking a lot of questions.

  • great video! I'm thinking of breeding my versicolor as soon as she is mature, thanks so much for advice and experience!

    myles

  • @zachsworlds really depends on the temps, feeding, genetics. Bit with that being said.....about a year or so!

  • Roughly how long does it take for slings to get to juvis?

  • Rob,when do you start feeding them??1st instar or 2nd??

  • @mrtboy1999 2nd instar, 1st instars are still feeding on the yolk in there abdomen

  • i have had 2 avics in the same tank for the last 9 months and they share the same hide . aparently one of them i bought from a person online kept her in a comunity

  • ur vids are awsome

  • Hello tarantulaguy1976,

i ve been watching most of your videos(love em all really) all day and that gave me cur-rage to order myself an curly hair spider-ling and im going to receive it in 2-3 days i just need information :) if possible. i love spiders i got a few garden spiders at home about an inch big. im new with the tarantulas .

  • @darkangel09121985 10 gal tank, 5-6 of sub, room temps to 82 degrees, 60-75% humidity and a water bowl and a hide!

  • @tarantulaguy1976

    Thank you

but the curly hair tarantula spiderling i ordered is about a cm big and isn't a 10 gal tank going to be huge for the spiderling?

  • @darkangel09121985 Oh, that is way to big LOL!! (A deli or small container will work!)

  • @tarantulaguy1976 Is there any particular care you would recommend for trapdoor slings because I am thinking of breeding my numerous California Trapdoor Spiders. Great spiders in my opinion, very well behaved, about the only trapdoor spider that is or that has not bitten me...yeowch...

  • @NagatoPein88 Sorry but I have no experience with these.

  • More 'how to' videos! More! more! More!!!! **explodes**

  • @dobo1005 It is very confusing, but you are on the right track, but out of all the poecilotheria...I have seen more turning on cagemates from ornata than any other...but they are one of my favorite pokies!

  • @dobo1005 Communal actually does not mean just living together, it means raising eggsacs together and eating together (wich I have seen ornata do) but they rarely make it to adults in a communal; set-up. So they are basically tolerate of each other

  • Excellent video, great tips & very informative! Thanks for posting! My little MRK will be loving her new watering dish!

  • Awesome videos mate! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge! // Thomas in Sweden

  • Hi! i have watch almoast all your movies! and they are great! You are my idol! This clip was a lot of help to me. You are the man!

From a guy in Sweden ^^

  • Whats a chicken spider?

  • It is labeled as a Pamphobeteus Sp...awesome T that is basically as big as a Blondi, looks like a pulchra and is communal....just plain awesome!!

  • Alright, i heard that they are almost impossible to get because export is forbidden from Peru.

  • I agree & it sucks LOL

  • do you feed them when they are eggs with legs... and when you do start feeding them all what do you feed them? if you feed them crickets do you feed them live ones or crushed ones? thanks rob

  • Eggs with legs are eating off the embryo, they will molt again into 1st instars and stiill eat off the embtyo....then they will molt again into 2nd instars and begin to feed!

  • 2 questions? How do you head a T or a sling when you can't keep your room a certin dagree because I have seen heat lamps with no light and if you raised that would that work? Also when a slong is in a little contaner like that how do you put a water dish in?

  • Most T's are fine at room temps, when water a sling in a little container mist the side of the container and the sling will drink from the walls or the sub!

  • I noticed by that big tank...do you keep snakes aswell Rob?

  • I have one ball python, but he is upstairs LOL

  • Can you sub fruit flies for pinheads as a "average"?

  • Nope!! maybe once...but not as a staple!!

  • Thanks for the rapid response! I like to look forward and make plans. I do have a Blaptica Dubia colony set up. How long would slings be on pinheads before they can change over to the roaches?

  • can u make a vid on breeding and careing for eggs and slings for a g.rosea plz thank you robc i would realy apreshiat it cheers m8

  • its in premolt. Leave it alone in the dark with mid humidity

  • I have a 1/3 inch N.coloratovillosus. It's 1st instar and I don't need to feed it until it becomes 2nd instar right?

  • That is correct!

  • Really great info. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hello Rob,

This video answered all my questions and the best source of info. Awesome! 10/10!

  • yah its cool to take time out of your day to show us the ropes

  • So thank you so much for all you've put out there.

  • You're welcome...I love sharing info with others.

  • Major kudos to you. I am now read to start writing my lesson plans for next week. We've been studying insects and bugs for the past 10 weeks cause my preschoolers keep suggesting new insects/bugs to study. I believe this will be our last week on bugs before the school year ends.

  • Dude, I'm a preschool teacher and have just gotten my first T. Chilean Rose Hair. I was looking for a video about Ts and I have since watched all your videos on Ts. Today I got a bunch of library books on Ts and there is nothing I read that you hadnt already posted a video on.

  • Kudos, Laurie!

  • woow!! really cool man!! thanks for your videos man it really gives us alot of infos

  • u probably said this but how do u get the egg sac out of the cage and segerate the eggs

  • watch some of his sack removal videos...

  • Amazing information! Thanks!

  • najs vid Rob. i love it .

  • good info thanks rob.

  • Exactly what i was looking for ;))

    Thanks, Rob!!

  • That is correct....

  • Aww my female avic decided my male would be a tasty snack :(

She's never paid ANY attention to hum in the past, like he would just walk right on top of her and she'd sit there lol! Then out of noware he pounced on him.

Im guessing she though he was food (he's quite small for a MM!). Darn it gonna take me ages to find another one of those....

  • Oh man, that sucks! I had that happen not to long ago with my MM versicolor. Make sure the female is very heavily fed before introducing the next male. I can probably find you a MM avic...

  • i know you did...luckily it wasn't the legendary owen though right!!!!

Yeah only problem is, its not a avic avic. Its an avic sp. Kwitara River. Another one of those strange avic spec that only sort of appear every once in a while. To be honest i think she's close to a molt (i.e having one) so she probably just wasn;t in the mood to be harassed by a male!!!

  • LOL. . .chicken spider sounds awsome!!! and you answered like a billion questions i had about breeding! if i could give this video more stars i would! i want a B.baumgarteni BAAAAD!!!

  • I'm glad I could help!! Thank you!
