to say she does not sing it well or without passion is my opinion not understanding the point of the song...apathy and despair is the underlying feeling behind the entire song...and shirley ann knows and respects the velvet underground and i think she did a bang up job of it...

Interesting cover, I'll have to check Garbage out. I like Doug Yule's vocals more, though. Steheng98 is right, it' is about Candy Darling, a transvestite. Lou and her(?) were romantically involved, and he wrote this song about her. He also did a segment of "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" about her on Lou's Transformer album. "Candy Says" is my absolute favorite song, and a friend and I are going to do a cover tomorrow or the next day.

Beautiful! Reminds me of "So Like A Rose" on the 'Beautiful' album. Shirley is the only singer I know of that can sing in a flat voice and still sound amazing! No one else could pull that off, at least not as well.

The Album is suppossed to be realeased May of this year. I actually heard she's teaming up with that drummer from Jane's Addiction. There's also rumors that she may be doing a duet with Gavin Rossdale. If anyone knows any news please let us know. THANX!!!
