She fails to give the answer to the direct question. She has come prepared with her monologue. It sounds just like her column. The interviewer is completely ineffective in checking Dr Mazari's drivel. All in all - Dr Mazari appears to have a very rigid mind set.
Where were these paid "intellectuals" when the Americans were the best friends of the ISI and the mujahideen?
As long as America gives them candy, it is good. When the candy stops, they suddenly discover that America is evil! Munafiqeen.
By the way, whether anyone likes it or not, Zardari is the legitmately elected President of Pakistan. The people of Pakistan will vote him out at the next election if they dont like his performance. Simpe as that!
So was Hamas , why arent they accepted? Why dictators like Hosni Mubarak, King Abdullah,Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakistan, Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan not condemn and kicked out? Why was saddam loved by americans when he was doing their dirty work in 1980's? Why the west does not protest the rigging of Election in Afghanistan the same way they did for Iran? The truth is that your governments are hypocrites and the worse thing is that you think you are doing the good work.
The topic was the hypocrisy of people like Shiren Mazari, not the history of the second half of the 20th century.
America, like all other great powers before it (including the Arabs 1000 years ago), does what it perceives to be in its national interest. Morality has no role in determining relations between states. No amount of anger, chest-thumping and sloganeering will change that.
Doing something in national interest does not exempt anyone of their moral responsibilities. As Humans, all of us should condemn the evil policies of the opressors and dictators without their religion, race, culture or creed without bias. I agree that great powers have done things in national interest but i disagree that this has been the case with all great leaders. On capturing Jerusalam back from crusaders, Saladin let all christians leave only 4 them to regroup. A Moral Choice.
As much as we may want them to, nations don't behave as individuals.
There are isolated personal examples of "good moral conduct" by leaders in all eras of history (this is not limited to Muslim leaders), but these are exceptions rather than a general rule.
Hypocrisy arises when we condemn one side as wholly evil while completely overlooking our own glaring evils and weaknesses. This is what people like Zaid Hamid and Shireen Mazari excel at.

Wow, so much anger!
Why do you presume that I support the Americans?
