Like 99% of people on here said, this album blows everything else out of the water and Anneke is a goddess. Anyone who disagrees is just ignorant and really doesn't have a reason to be registering an opinion.
As much as I love seeing music on YT, especially something as awesome as Devin's work, I do find it funny how some try to pass it off as not being copyright infringement.
Most think that mentioning the original author is enough to avoid infringement, but you have actually read what the law has to say. And I do think you're wrong. You would have a hard time convincing any judge that this falls under fair use.
Although it's probably hard to prove statistically, I'd bet Youtube helps boost the sales of many musicians. I personnally would have bought less without the possibility of listening to it beforehand.
Also you can't be serious to stuff like this under a Teaser of all things, which are usually free for anyone to download.
i personally think anneke really worked wonders in the bend it song (if thats what it is called) in the chorus, theres something she reallys adds that just makes it all come together very profoundly. I think she was a great choice for the music, thats my personal opinion and i commend devin for having courage to write music that comes from the heart. i dnt necessarily like everything he's done - in later yrs but i still view him as a talented musician and he deserves success in all he does.

Decent record. But i preferred Ki. Liked the stripped down vibe he had goin' on. And the understated drum work gave it a foot tappin' jazzy feel at times. It was nice to hear him depart from the wall of noise stuff - and i was probably the biggest Strapping fan in the Western hemisphere. Tracks like Disruptr and Gato were pure groove, and dark as night. Don't get me wrong, i like this - it's a quick fix. There's no right or wrong, it just depends on what you get off on.

No I'm sorry anyone could have made that album. The song Earth Day has more creativity in it than the entire Ki Album. Devin is one of the most if not the most talented musician out there today and for him to come out with something so sub-par I know the majority of his fans were disappointed. Only the kiss asses who worship everything he does would say that's a great album. Only people who are true to themselves and respect Devin as an artist admit that Ki just does not cut it.
Still he made the SYL "self titled cd and a few after that". Not saying i don't love the guy, in fact he is the best musician in my ears. But he's still human. Money talks.
there is no 'real dev'. keep that in mind at all times. you are certainly welcome to like or dislike whatever you want, but you're projecting an image onto a human being that is more complex [as all of us are] than that conception you have of him.
This entire album is sheer genius, which I of course totally expected. Annike's vocals are well placed and highly effectual, and the production is unparalleled. In a period where new music that doesn't suck is rare, I welcome this piece with open arms.

Yeah... I mean, it's *different* for sure... But she brings a great energy to it... I think it's cool, too, that she's singing on it, given how she's performed it as a cover live with her band.
Dev is apparently a big fan of hers, and has been for some time, so I'm sure it was a rush for him as well to have her singing his songs.
This album is holy. We are not worthy. I have already preordered this masterpiece. Sounds so great... beautiful and also some of the heaviest sounding metal i ever heard. The production is gold.
I just found out that DTP will be touring on BTBAM's headline tour in 2010 and other opening bands are Cynic and Scale the Summit, FUCK YEAH!!! That'll be the tour of 2010 right there.
When I found out that Anneke was doing co-vocals on this album, I almost shat a brick. I love both of their work respectively, so to see them collaborate is mind blowing. And hearing this, I think this is going to be fucking amazing.
Seeing the live videos of Agua de Anneke doing Hyperdrive, I figure that it was going to be put on one or the other's studio album. So it's not surprising to see it on Addicted.
i agree. "hyperdrive" is my favorite song from the ziltoid album, and from this teaser i dont like the new version, and its not the singing. the guitar part doesnt drive like it did on the original. still looking forward to the new album, though.

This all sounds VERY good. It kind of has a much more poppy (dare I say COMMERCIAL) feel to it but that does not take away from it one bit.... Roll on Addicted. Keep it coming Dev!
Everything about this teaser makes me giddy like a schoolgirl! The female vocals on here are mighty cool and a nice compliment to Dev's vocals. The music sound, or as I like to call it, "standing on a mountaintop and witnessing the end of the world/birth of a planet" is there, so I am MORE than stoked for this album to hit my mailbox! Devin is the best. Ever. Period.
This is a great album, and as with all of Devin's albums I am sure that it will grow on me even more. I'll admit- I am very hard on chick singers and am surprised that Dev would hand the mic over to one when his voice is so awesome. For texture, I'm guessing. I do like Che Dorval's voice on Ki, as it was used sparingly as an accent. Having a harder time with Anneke's vox, and she sings a LOT on this record. My girlfriend likes her though, and for the first time she is listening to Dev's music!
devin tries new areas and that´ s fine! he aren´ t touring with it, and it´ s not meant to be some of his classic albums, and i don´ t expect it to come even CLOSE to what he has done earlier, and he has done so much i love that i think that there will be atleast a couple of songs to be "ADDICTED" to, peace! :)

Not at all actually. I'm not trying to be a jerk either, I've been a massive fan since Biomech was released back in the day. But this is just too detached and flighty. The video where Dev tracks Awake sounds better than the actual clip on here...I'll wait and make my mind up after but it's just not capturing me...I'm upset, I was looking forward to this release but it's too candied and lacking in impact-TO ME. But I didn't like the Ki teaser either and that one impressed me. Fingers crossed.
That was sort of the point though. Devin said something about making some positive feel good music that you could just rock out to like an idiot and have a good time. It's more about positive energy than a subliminal message.
Yeah I know he's going for the positive angle, but it just feels too empty in terms of what he's done before for me to get excited over it. Namaste and Material were super happy fun metal songs, same with some of the songs on AE, but this sounds very euro... I can't sit down and eat icing for over 30 minutes and not feel sick to my stomach. Like I said, I'll wait...but personally this album preview sounds weak and flighty to me. Positivity to me is more about power and triumph, not dancing...

Hmmm will keep an eye on this, call me resistant to change but I am not so sure about this messing with Hyperdrive thing - that song was pretty on the mark on Ziltoid and that clip felt like it could spoil it to me.

But apparently by the minus rating on your comment, people want to 'zero their dials' . Devin's other stuff is fun to me. Listening to a 'fun' album isn't what I consider fun. But hey I'm glad to see people are excited for this :)
I will agree that the Ziltoid version is amazing (I once listened to it for 3 days straight) but I think there's something to this new version. You don't have to be dripping with desolation and loneliness to be desolate and lonely. How many of us put on a happy face even though we're dying inside? I think that's the idea with this album. Still I think your opinion is absolutely valid as I used to think that way about music but you know sometimes the really upbeat stuff is so ironically sad.
Anneke really let herself go this year (2011). Still a lovely vocalist.

nah still not liking her voice on hyperdrive. like i said dev's was PERFECT on ziltoid. Im sure its still good, but the original was so good, hard to top. also che's voice was better on ki.

I highly doubt Che's vocals would fit in on this album. She was perfect for Ki, but not sure how she'd fit into this style.

yeah I agree, I just dont know how how good this chicks voice is. What I heard of the gathering was weak at best. Im dev has made another (typical of him) stunning album. Funny how people dont like it when I merely state that im not sure about the chicks voice, I have listened to dev for over 12 years, more than most I would say.

Yeah... I mean, it's *different* for sure... But she brings a great energy to it... I think it's cool, too, that she's singing on it, given how she's performed it as a cover live with her band.
Dev is apparently a big fan of hers, and has been for some time, so I'm sure it was a rush for him as well to have her singing his songs.

This album is holy. We are not worthy. I have already preordered this masterpiece. Sounds so great... beautiful and also some of the heaviest sounding metal i ever heard. The production is gold.

When I found out that Anneke was doing co-vocals on this album, I almost shat a brick. I love both of their work respectively, so to see them collaborate is mind blowing. And hearing this, I think this is going to be fucking amazing.
Seeing the live videos of Agua de Anneke doing Hyperdrive, I figure that it was going to be put on one or the other's studio album. So it's not surprising to see it on Addicted.

i agree. "hyperdrive" is my favorite song from the ziltoid album, and from this teaser i dont like the new version, and its not the singing. the guitar part doesnt drive like it did on the original. still looking forward to the new album, though.

I don't think Bush was too flash, but Obama is barely any better. He hasn't done anything to help aid the economy that any other president wouldn't have done, and he's been introducing all his reforms in such extreme ways that he is creating division, even though public heatlh care is a great idea.

Everything about this teaser makes me giddy like a schoolgirl! The female vocals on here are mighty cool and a nice compliment to Dev's vocals. The music sound, or as I like to call it, "standing on a mountaintop and witnessing the end of the world/birth of a planet" is there, so I am MORE than stoked for this album to hit my mailbox! Devin is the best. Ever. Period.

This is a great album, and as with all of Devin's albums I am sure that it will grow on me even more. I'll admit- I am very hard on chick singers and am surprised that Dev would hand the mic over to one when his voice is so awesome. For texture, I'm guessing. I do like Che Dorval's voice on Ki, as it was used sparingly as an accent. Having a harder time with Anneke's vox, and she sings a LOT on this record. My girlfriend likes her though, and for the first time she is listening to Dev's music!

devin tries new areas and that´ s fine! he aren´ t touring with it, and it´ s not meant to be some of his classic albums, and i don´ t expect it to come even CLOSE to what he has done earlier, and he has done so much i love that i think that there will be atleast a couple of songs to be "ADDICTED" to, peace! :)

Not at all actually. I'm not trying to be a jerk either, I've been a massive fan since Biomech was released back in the day. But this is just too detached and flighty. The video where Dev tracks Awake sounds better than the actual clip on here...I'll wait and make my mind up after but it's just not capturing me...I'm upset, I was looking forward to this release but it's too candied and lacking in impact-TO ME. But I didn't like the Ki teaser either and that one impressed me. Fingers crossed.

That was sort of the point though. Devin said something about making some positive feel good music that you could just rock out to like an idiot and have a good time. It's more about positive energy than a subliminal message.

Yeah I know he's going for the positive angle, but it just feels too empty in terms of what he's done before for me to get excited over it. Namaste and Material were super happy fun metal songs, same with some of the songs on AE, but this sounds very euro... I can't sit down and eat icing for over 30 minutes and not feel sick to my stomach. Like I said, I'll wait...but personally this album preview sounds weak and flighty to me. Positivity to me is more about power and triumph, not dancing...

Hmmm will keep an eye on this, call me resistant to change but I am not so sure about this messing with Hyperdrive thing - that song was pretty on the mark on Ziltoid and that clip felt like it could spoil it to me.

I agree with you. The pop approach to that song destroys the desolation and loneliness that the Ziltoid version drips of. But apparently by the minus rating on your comment, people want to 'zero their dials' . Devin's other stuff is fun to me. Listening to a 'fun' album isn't what I consider fun. But hey I'm glad to see people are excited for this :)

I will agree that the Ziltoid version is amazing (I once listened to it for 3 days straight) but I think there's something to this new version. You don't have to be dripping with desolation and loneliness to be desolate and lonely. How many of us put on a happy face even though we're dying inside? I think that's the idea with this album. Still I think your opinion is absolutely valid as I used to think that way about music but you know sometimes the really upbeat stuff is so ironically sad.
