  • Historical thes lads are Historical, they called to arms with their great renditions

  • Of course, De Valera and the IRA use the same tactics when they later crushed the supporters of the semi--socialist Irish Citizens Army so it really doesn't matter weather it's English or Irish. The tactics of power remain the same.

  • The "Black and Tans" ( actually the Special Auxiliary , Royal Irish Police) were the first step towards the Gestapo, the Green Berets and Blackwater LLC. Fighting the war real soldiers couldn't or wouldn't fight. The war against popular ideas contrary to the ruling powers interests.

  • Can someone post the full lyrics please? Thank you a lot!

  • ray is a god ... mc clean abu

  • Lovely song !

  • Wolfhound . . . the finest Republican ballad band of them all . . . RIP Danny Burns

  • A blot on English history. If the Irish had done to us what we did to you, I too would have fought. Sorry for what our governments did to you.

  • Why didnt do anything until they killed incocent people.

  • Oh thanks.I too have searched for this song.I am 52 and I remember the greatest person in the world sing this song to me as a child and that person was my lovely late dad..Love you dad

  • I was looking for this song for so long thanks 4 uploadin

Go to my account to see my grandfather sing this song when he is drunk

  • I had 2 lp records of the wolfhound, 'Freedom's sons' and 'Ireland boys hurrah' I loaned out the 2nd one and never got it back, I think someone stole it at a party. Bought them in Dundalk in 1979 while following Celtic on European cup duty. We went with the John F Kennedy CSC from Perth and the craic was mighty! have tried for years to get CD's, but nothing doin.

  • Derry Records used to sell a great collection of all good artists but I don't think they are around anymore... try the sinn fein book shop or irishmusimail

  • This is my wifes uncle Ray singing. He sang for a few groups in and around the late sixties-early seventies. We are Turf Lodge couple

  • their very much of their time,no base guitar riffs like gary og and athenry LOL na their real instuments anyway-what became of this band what years did they play? any one heard peter crowly from a record called freedom fighters 1967?

  • Aye tazahill, I've got that LP by the Freedom Fighters. Believe it or not, they used to sell that record in Woolworths!!! Changed days eh?

  • thats where my gran git it mate! no way i dont beleive u just said that! ever played in any bands? rfb's or the like

  • I played flute for Padraig Pearse in Dundee, then Crossmaglen Patriots for a short time after P.P. disbanded.

  • wal! I was for a magical year a member of the maxi colour party, heavy shit at home and i had to leave. I'm now writing a book called Me & Ireland a Celtic Supporters Story. It's all about how it is that it is that we all feal apart of that thing(what ever it was) that spilled out on to O'Connell street 1 Easter Monday morning long ago! Even though we had kin that fell in ww1 and ww2 we still feel more for those men of Easter Week and all like them

  • despit this loyalists and OO march for St Pat! bloody cheek! They say he wasnt even irish! idiots George was not english, nor andrew scotts both england and scotland were already christian b4 they were patron and neither george or andrew SET FOOT in them. Patrick spent his life in Erin, dedicated it to the Irish, wrote down all that is Irish gaelic culture and fought 2 have it preserved! this was centuries b4 the reformation, plantation, act of union!

  • where u from mate

    slan~

  • for 2500 year of recorded history Irishmen have felt apart of the Celtic people. The leaders of the Gael felt they were the decendents of the tribsmen the Roman and Greek called the Celti and wrote so fondly of them. In stark contrast Loyalists didnt even exist untill the plantation a 800 years ago! back then their was no ulsterman who felt anything other than irish who waved the red hand flag.that was the flags of their enemy, even the dialect they speak now is that of the irish

  • the 1st ulstermen who came from the uk and though themselves brittish didnt speak english in an ulster/irish dialect or wave the red hand flag or think they were decended from the crunthi-their are more Irish people living n,s,e and s that can claim crunthi blood-1 3rd of loyalists came from england with no crunthi claim and the scotts they decend from lived in a free scotland 4 300 years! the single event that madse them-the plantation destroyed what st pat worked his life to keep

  • In my opinion the greatest rebel band ever! I would give anything to have their collection on cd,such an understated yet strong voice.

  • i love this band have they a site, their that band that you always heard as a kid when your granny would buy you a tape down the barras after the game lol, what do u know about this band?

  • They were from Belfasr, the singers name is Ray McAreavey, the Colt Company once bought 10,000 copies of a song they did named My Little Armalite and distributed to their weapons salespeople around the world.

  • LOL I heard that. What a way to get a sale!

  • I Love this lol. So Sad. I heard a version of this song before, but it can not compare with this one. Thank you for uploading

  • i know the song of course LOL anyway what years did they record? i have them from 1970's at least well my mother has

  • brill group want to find track my little armalite anyone know where it can be obtained on CD?

  • My father, Danny Burns, was member of this great republican band......and yes, Ray McAreavey has one of the best voices.....I was over at his house for dinner two years ago. My father passed away on May 7, 2002....RIP Danny

    Tiocfaidh Ar La

  • I am sorry to hear about your father... RIP Danny. Is your father from Lenadoon by any chance?

  • No, we were from Andersonstown(Riverdale to be precise).

  • Ah! At last I found out the name of the man singing! I have a collection of Irish rebel songs, and always found the voice of Ray McAreavey seductive and perfect for these ballads - whether propaganda or no. Thanks for the info.

  • wtf????? seductive voice??? have some fucking respect

  • Er...nothing in the slightest disrespectful about my comment. If I were to say to you, joegerob, that 'you have a seductive voice', it would be a compliment. But I won't - you don't, you're rude, clueless and don't show any fucking respect yourself.

  • im sorry, i find it difficult at times to show respect to someone whos name sounds like macbumfarty.

  • beautiful

  • god save ireland

  • I have a few cassettes of Wolfhound and listen them every so often. That was great, thanks for posting it.
