@mkmkm52 I love this song too - I have brought it to several synagogues that were not familiar with it, and they loved it too. Please check out Portnoy's other song I posted - "God Bless this House" - another exquisite little composition.
Thank you for these beautiful words, presented to us with your beautiful voice, touching us so deeply. Bless you for sharing it with the world of so many faiths.
Dear Rowna, I don't know how often I've already come back to this video, but it must have been at least 15 times, because this video is such a revelation to me!!! Your singing and this song itself are so inspiring for me, so beautiful and expressive, so that I only can say THANK YOU!!!
You are so very welcome. Maybe someday you will come across the ocean and visit Pittsburgh, where you can visit our historic Synagogue, and come to one of our services where I sing this. The congregants all love this piece, and as I sing it, I always am so moved by their smiling faces.
What I notice fairly early in your sung prayer Rowna; is that you are pushing your voice, softly and gently up and out: liken to and against a showering lambent sky. Careful use of tone and elevation: you raise your voice to the edge of heaven and out in the sphere that surrounds our minds and into the vortex. Yes; you take me there. If this is progressional as in a time line, you have hone(focused) your mind and energy to a level where perception and outcome are an equilibrium. All my love Paul.
I am very humbled by your beautiful words, Paul. This music inspires me so much. It is not just for me - but is for those who are listening to the music and words together, letting the combination fill their souls.
Well I know my Hebrew isn't the best, but I do try! Only the middle is in English, and as far as I know, the beginning and the end are written in Hebrew which I do my darndest to pronounce carefully. But thank you for you compliment to my voice and the to the composer.
What simplicity and, yet, what intense sentiment does this petite piece hold :)! And an enjoyable one to sing, that's for sure, I love the way it highlights the middle register :)! And it is a double pleasure to hear such a delightful piece sung with such feeling :). Thank you for directing me to this wonderful video :D.
thank you for such kind and thoughtful words. and thank you, too, for the wonderful channel you provide to all youtubers who enjoy the very fine aspects of classical opera, especailly those that are often overlooked.
It brought tears to my eyes. You could have played Eponine in Les Miserables. Your voice, I think, would be perfect for "A Little Fall of Rain". Thank you for sharing.
her voice sounds very fresh and young here. Thanks good to hear after going to the opera tonight and the lead tenor canceled --Kaufmann, sick. I was sorry to hear Manon with a cover tenor but this helped calm me down.
Yes - this is a fairly new composition, but it sounds like it has been around a long time - to me - that is always the hallmark of a good composition. And thank you for you compliment.
thanks dear rowna. your voice shows me the beauty of a great jew value. you sing like a serafin.
JHWH bless you forever.
