I've personally seen Anders sing live. They do use tracks to back the vocals and for synth instraments. But Anders sings/screams the entire way through. He does not lip sink. There are pre-recorded vocals in the background. So f-cking what. I'd like to see you sing as well as he doesn every concert. As a metal singer myself. I can tell you it is not easy to sing what he does.

In flames aften uses playback voices becouse they are using difrent voices and puting them together to make a awsome combination. For example in Alias from a sense of purpose they use many kinds of voices in the refrain to make it sound cooler. They use for exampel one clean voice track and one more heavy voice track (wich they actually calls angry uncle" xD) then they put them together. That is one of the things that makes In flames vocals so freaking awsome =D

They play along to a click track, which allows them to perform on beat with drum machine and keyboard samples. This also includes recorded backing vocals. Not a bad idea, considering the other guys don't do backing vocals. NIN and Marilyn Manson perform in a similar manner.
