  • How much difference between the old absinthe and the new absinthe is there? Different ingrediants?

  • If anyone is still wondering, the song is Francesco Tamagno performing "Niun mi tema" (Morte d'Otello) from Giuseppe Verdi's Otello.

  • A beautiful presentation. I watch it often when trying to explain the difference in colour to friends.

Thank you for sharing your moment with us all.

  • You're fucking insane.

I would not have ever opened that.

  • BRAVO!! You drink your absinthe with the same music I do!! ;)

  • I just got to say... Looking at this... drolling over it... I hate you....

But GREAT set up and music! The old music is the only way to drink Absinthe!

  • what song is that?

  • @YieArKungFu

See i was looking into it, and apparntly even absinthe lovers love Lafee.....

What would you recomend as a great absinthe for around £30 a bottle then?

  • Ca donne envie :oP

Dommage qu'un tel nectar soit si rare, et donc si cher.

    Quelle couleur superbe!

    Et le louche parfait!!!

    Jolie cuillère aussi :o)

Merci pour cette vidéo rafraichissante :o)

  • It feels almost like a name should pop up at the end...

    1910 Edouard Pernod

    Available near you.

  • I like that song! Could someone tell me what it is please?

  • What Song is this?

  • no artificial coloring

  • and its been exposed to light that is probably 100yo absinthe

  • Why is this absinthe brown?

  • Even if the absinthe was originally of a green hue, they brown as they age.

  • I've heard the "you don't need sugar" comment quite a bit. Truth is that with most fine absinthes you don't "need" it. The fashion at the time and the taste was simply for sweet drinks. Hence why syrup is also commonly used as well. I would highly recommend you try your favorite absinthe with raw (brown) sugar cubes instead of processed white.

  • diVIN

  • belissimo ...

na minha opiniao... é a unica bebida q ganha na elegancia d sua degustaçao ... a bebida q tem o ritual + lindo p se beber...

  • this guy admired that too much

  • Did you buy that glass from the antiques section at Alandia? there's a glass there that looks just like that.

  • Is it pre-ban absinthe?

  • Before sugar what was used? and is there another way w/o sugar?

  • One word: syrup.

  • VERY GOOD!!!

  • esquisite!!

  • Wow

  • It has a very weird taste at first, but after a few glasses it really started to grow on me and now I had 3 or 4 bottles! It's pretty expensive stuff so nomally I buy Pernod absinthe... it's easy to get over here (in Holland) and it's not THAT expensive! ;)

  • now that was amazing

  • jmfranc- this video is so sexy to me....it's almost present the adoration you have on louching and almost a patience on waiting for the drink...yummm...one question, i'm in the u.s., not sure if you are, i guess i should have checked, but where to find proper and decent absinthe here??? can you help??

  • Seriously, what type of glass is that, it looks so awesome, is it an antique or a modern?

  • Very nice indeed, weird color tho. The modern Pernod 68 is one to try too! Oh, and don't forget the wonderful Mansinthe (by Marilyn Manson) Sure, you can laugh in his face, but he created a honest to the gods wonderful absinthe! =D

  • Most people hate Mansithe i've heard.

  • Fair enough, taste is personal. It's still a high quality (award winning) absinthe tho!

  • The brownish color is common in vintage absinthes that have been colored using an herbal coloring process (as opposed to chemical or none at all). It is called feuille morte (dead leaves).

  • Simply Beautiful, finally someone who prepares it the right way, also awesome footage of the louching of some very, very good pre-ban absinthe.

  • I agree 100%

  • waht is the song´s name????!!??!!

  • Oh yes! This is one of my favorites too. But it is for different situations. I definitely need several Absinthes. Jade New Orleans, Matter's creations are mandatory as well. And Francois Guy for the summer weekend afternoon.

  • Thanks for this great idea!

In the meantime the Jade NO is one of my favorites. Unfortunatly I could not get hold of the other Jades yet. And one other thing became obvious: There i no best Absinthe for me. It strongly depends on the situation.

  • Thank you very much for this video.

It inspired me to buy a Duplais which made me

fall in love with Absinthe just today.

    This drink is really mystique.

It looks as if Jade does decent Absithes.

Would you recommend a New Orleans?

Seems to be the only available one currently.

And of course I would be very open to recommendations how to figure out my favorite taste...

  • just a 3 hour drive south for me and ill can buy them :)

  • I have studied your videos for months, long awaiting the arrival of my absinthe. Two bottles were provided for me - Tabu and La Fee. My wife acquired the perfect fountain for Christmas...a small clear globe "decanter" with a pidcock. I made my own spoon which looks like a leaf. Tonight I lit the fireplace and arranged my ritual atop a marble chess board. The mood I created was warm and relaxing....the experience was a sincere pleasure. Thanks for the high-quality videos. FF

  • I don't know if you noticed or not but what I am pouring is a $300 sample of 1910 Edouard Pernod. The bottles in the background are simply that - background. The sample I am pouring is a deep brown - not vibrant green like the Jade Edouard.

  • I also have a few bottles of French absinthe for sale. Not the one I used in the video but newer, very high quality absinthe. Contact me. I also have several preban absinthes available.

  • I can see it is a preban absinthe from the colour, the socalles feuille morte.

jmfranc, what music is this? I find this to be more haunting than Francis Marty's Fee Verte'. Respect.

  • Excellent. I believe this is one of the best known pre-ban louche videos out there, and for good reason. Your moody lighting and controlled movements add to the mystique. Nice spoon too, by the way.

  • I might have a few preban samples of absinthe tif anyone is interested.

  • It looks to me like an original Pernod and not Breaux's

  • I have to ask, where do you go about finding $2,500 liquor?

  • very nice

  • Wow.

Has it acquired the amber color due to age?

  • that was a gorgeous louche. i'd love to try a pre-ban bottle, but i just can't afford it. well, i can watch this and dream...

  • Absolutly beautiful. May I ask what type of glass that is? I've been looking for one, but I do not know the specific name of it.

  • brilliant

  • Absinthe with dead leaf color looks pretty cool indeed.

  • do u know the value of the 100 year old bottle

    i'm j/w

    very very cool

  • 1 word....wonderfull

  • Bravo, I love it! Perfect setting and music. Absolutely beautiful. Might I ask who the wonderful Italian singer is? I would love to own some of his music. Thank you

  • Great music, it fits perfectly. What is it?

  • this is what I like about pre-bans! Yet the shy Brut d'alembic could be shown, do not you think? Regards

  • I think you should take pity on me and send me some! Seriously though, very nice of you to share this with the world, WE NEED MORE! I have some of the 1914 cache, and it's very very nice.

  • Way cooler than my absinthe video.

  • Beautiful louche, Shitty music.

  • is this even wormwood absinthe?

  • The red color puts the whole thing into question.

  • It's not red. It's brown. It happens with 100 year old absinthe...

  • Cool, can I have some?

  • Sounds like somebody has learnt a few big words from wiki and is slightly jelous of this person being fortunate enough to sample such goods, whilst slipping in the "dont add too much water" statement to sound pro - don't bother... EXCELLENT VIDEO - WELL DONE!

  • I watched another video here and it said that they tested the High quality Pre-ban absinthe. It resulted was the same asabsinthe made now.

  • Fantastic - Sublime

  • That's pretty awesome. Nice fountain

  • don't add too much water!

by the way, pre-ban absinthe had a lot of toxic adulterants in it, such as antimony chloride, for example, which gave absinthe a bad name and banned

  • Bravo!

  • Yes, it is pre-ban Edouard Pernod. I have had the great fortune to try a number of pre-ban absinthes: Pernod Fils, three different Edouard Pernods, Premier Fils, C. F. Berger, H. Bazinet Jeune, and various ones from the 20's - 40's. My favorite is probably the Edouard Pernod.

  • Have you tried Breaux's replica?
