Wow I saw this in 7th grade (2003 or so), and I thought it was one of the best films I had ever seen lol. I didn't remember the title for ages until now. I figured it had "Watcher" in it.
I watched it when I was little. That damn movie made me "circle you, circle me" even more creepy. Because when I remeber that movie, the ritus is the only thing that I can remeber and in my vison they where singing... XD
I just watched this for the first time! My mum told me that she used to be sooo scared of it when she was little and she just remembered the title the other day so I downloaded it and watched it today and OMG it creeped the he'll out of me! I was scared to see what happened next in every scene, especially when Ellie was like possessed! And I'm fifteen going on sixteen!! Although, mind you, I'm not good with scary things. The scariest I have seen is Black Swan.
@TheIrishboy99 me too, I was afraid of mirrors for the longest time, when my family went on vacation and stayed in Hotels I made my mom cover the mirrors lol
I saw this movie almost 30 years ago when I was ten years old. Actually, it was a darn good film. Years later I ran into my old 5th grade teacher somewhere and she told me that she never showed it to any class again because she felt it was too scary. Too bad, I thought. I think about 5th or 6th grade is the perfect age for a child to enjoy this thriller.
yikes this movie scared me, read the book too. like a previous comment, the blindfolded girl, the face in the water in the coffin and more scenes. it was that spooky scarey. i think id still get spooked by it. but obviously i liked it as a kid.
I saw that movie in drama class! It's not like horror scary, its like something that suprises you! Its just like whenever things pop up, your surprised! And it's pop up scary! Not scary face scary!
loved this film as a kid even if it scared the shit out of me. i definitely need to watch this again. now that i think about it this kinda reminds me of lovecraft's horror stories
Man...this movie was fukn scary when i was 5 or 6, im 32 now and still got a lil creeped! Its amazing how movies like these are imprinted in my brain to this day but the only way i would have ever seen a clip like this is thanks to almighty youtube.
ive been searching for this movie for almost 7 years, i remember it being scary as shit when i first saw it when i was 5 or 6, now im 17 and its still an original movie that gives me the creeps, thanks for posting this man!!!!!!!!
@RAlmofti96 1980s was a weird decade for Disney...they also adapted Ray Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' into a film, and that is possibly the scariest book I have ever read. O.o
@MiyahSummer Less than Harry Potter. British director John Hough was known for atmospheric suspense. He directed THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE & British TV action shows such as THE AVENGERS. Most notably he directed the first two original WITCH MOUNTAIN movies, ESCAPE and RETURN which also dealt with parapsychology. WATCHER featured Kyle Richards and WITCH MOUNTAIN featured her sister Kim Richards (who also appears as a ghostly apparition in WATCHER). Both WATCHER and RETURN features Bette Davis.
yo vi la pelicula cuando tenia como tres años y estaba tan asustado que estuve tiempo si dormir solo.... y creo que si la vuelvo a ver me voy a asustar muhisimo.....
In the novel, the girl had disappeared 50 years earlier. She got to close to a portal into another dimension and got sucked in. Within the other dimension, one day equals 50 earth years.
Meanwhile, an alien child is spending one day in our world as part of a "right of passage." She's the creature they call "the watcher."
i vividly remember this from when i was a kid. There is a hall of mirrors scene about halfway through and when i first saw it, i actually seriously thought i was going to have a cardiac arrest. Havent seen it since.
If you watch it you will be cursed. Plagues will be upon your family and the Grim Reaper himself will com down to stalk you. When he get's you you get send to hell, where Satan sticks a pitchfork up your ass 5 times a day for all eternity.
It's a movie, what do think will happen? Nothing.
What I particularly like at this film is the fact that it leaves plenty of room for interpretation. The watcher is never visually shown. Although the viewer constantky feels that there is something out there, but it never shows up (except for the alternative ending, that they didn't use in the movie for gods sake. The alternative ending would have ruined the whole atmosphere. This is not a classic horror movie but a good Disney-made horror story for children and adults as well.
awe.. i know that this is a horror movie, but i remember watching it with my entire family at our cute little cottage before we sold it.. so it kinda brings back memories of warmth for me:)
Amazing that this was a Walt Disney film! This was a period - 1979 to 1983 - when they were experimenting with more mature films, because their kiddie faire wasn't doing it.
Spooky as it looks, it wasn't rated any higher than PG. Disney has never gone into R-rated territory, except with their Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures division.
I saw this movie when I was 7 or 8. It was my first exposure to a "twisted" movie... not but blood and guts scary, but got into my head scary. I avoided the woods for about a month after!
I saw the beginning of this movie about 5ish yrs ago and my friend and I were so sacred we couldnt finish it! I read the book and it's different from the movie... I'm gonna watch this so I can see the WHOLE thing! :)
@JTHMBirdGuy777 then it wouldnt be pg, and thank god it is a pg my class is going on a field trip on a charter bus, man were gonna watch it on the charter bus! this'll be the 3rd? scary movie iv ever watched, not a nig fan and saw 6 scared me badly.
Never seen this film but it seems worth watching. The narrator for the trailer is excellent. Too bad he's probably gone by now, he sounds old at the time this was made. He has a voice that no other could come close to.
I saw this movie I think 2 or 3 years ago while visiting my cousins and it was weird, pretty creepy, and also good. I'll have to give this another watch.
so scared at age 9. So scared at age 20
