  • i have some advice for you.

on your first arabesque the back am is too far back therefore making you look a tad odd, secondly the foot on the second arabesque is turned in.

if you make these changes the video will be much better

  • @ballerinana11 oh thanks(: I've always wanted to take ballet. Was it just me or was her arubesque not to low?

  • @emmadilemmasings When did I act like I know it all? It's "en l'air", period.

  • @theamazingsoter I was saying the girl in the video was being a know it all. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was saying how she pronounced it "on l'air," and then acted like she was smart because she said "which rhymes with air, meaning 'in the air.'"

  • @emmadilemmasings Ooops, sorry. I thought you were telling me it was "on l'air" instead of "en l'air".

  • @theamazingsoter No, haha, sorry!

  • i think shes good shes got better ballence than me lol well iv never done ballet in my life. lol

  • I do gymnastics and I've always wanted to do ballet but can't aford to do both. This is a great help but I already know how to do an arebesque (sp?) I thought there would be more.

  • @Taylorhaydn arabasque. :) I thought there would be more too, that's why I clicked this video.I do Ballet and sometimes are unfamiliar with some names.

  • SHE TEACHES YOU ARABESQUE.

Want to say dis in case anyone is like me and thought she would teach 2+ different ballet moves.

I took ballet for 8 years, then quit. 2 or 3 years has passed since then.I watched this video because I forgot moves & I'm tryin 2 make a dance. wikipedia ain't helpful, I can't visualize it. Unfortunately for me she can not balance on a low arabesque. I think she should practice at the bar a bit more by putting her leg on the top bar, well that's how I was taught.

  • wow ! most of the moves she's doing, she's doing wrong. /:

    fail !

  • she s hot !!

  • What happened to ballet move'S'? And movement'S'? One, doesnt count.

  • guys stop hating shes trying to TEACH!!!! jeez you guys are just all talk and no show, if you want to teach make your own channel, don't hate on her's. she worked hard on all of this.

  • @pinkdancingstar29 if she can't do moves properly, then she shouldn't teach beginners.

  • en l'air rhyming with air. meaning leg in the air. jambe en l'air means leg in the air. en l'air just means in the air. and it doesnt mean htat because it rhymes. it means that because its a french translation. but i dont hink she was that bad.

  • 1. before you teach other people how to dance, try learning some yourself.

    2. we arent stupid, you can speak a little faster.

  • why is everyone being so mean?

  • @veronica19721972 cuz she sucks

  • ok being a dancer myself i could could notice her mistakes but my 7 year old cousin asked me is that 5th or 3rd! this woman needs to make up her mind!!!

  • tremendous turnout at 0:08

(I hope everyone heard my heavy sarcasm)

  • wow! their in french? no way! and you need turnout? you must feel so proud of yourself! you must have studied for a whole five minutes on google!!!

  • ugghh the voice hurts my ears

  • wow i agree with Sytan22, when i started watching this i was like , ehh .. shes probably not that bad, but holy mother of lulu!

  • ....oh my gosh......this is soooo bad! Her presentation is very boring and she is wearing a skirt...when you are showing people how to do something for ballet you want to let them SEE what your leg is doing!!! It's like a how to do an arebesque for dummies.... I can do 10 times better than she can...geez this video obviously sucks...

  • my gosh ._.U that arabesque sucked ._.U

  • her voice irritates me but good vid x

  • I havent dance in 10 years and even my arabesque is higher than hers!!

  • hah i dont mean the teacher,i mean my seven year old friend!XD she dosent need to be skinny!

  • u only tell us about the aradesque??? i though there would be more.....

  • she..uhm...my 7 year old friend can dance better ballet then she can...and she aint the skinniest out there!

  • @MisPaperHearts Why does she need to be skinny?

  • Haha u can't balance

  • you should watch videos on how the royal ballet academy trains... and my gosh, those little girls are wayyyy better and more svelte than her. this would not attract me to take up ballet lessons at all. im not impressed. ehow should do better than this.

  • @futurachel youre a complete idiot and have a sick opinion of what a womens body should look like if you think it should look like a 7 year old girl's.

  • Hey dont make fun of stuff! you guys think you're better? SHOW IT

I dont see you in vides doin any better so shut it

  • I dont hav any idea how to stretch that much and someone plz help!!! I need classes and if someone is caring enough to post everything they learn in their very first classes, ill be most grateful!!

  • reading all the comments, I can see why so many people lose there passion for dance so early. Its not what you say its how you say it. But im sure there have many teachers that have talked down to most of those writhing comments and I know it didnt feel good but funny how so many of you find pleasure in doing the same thing.Instead of negative talk reply with a video pointing out how it could be better atleast that way we have something to compare it to not just simple words from simple people.

  • sytan22 don't say that when i did it, it was good

  • her arabasque is soooo bad, no stretch at all, shouldnt be teaching this

  • i did an arabesque better than her in my 1st day of classes!

  • dont listen 2 her frnch pronouncing.U dont pronounce the 'n's and as 4 the arabesque i was NEVER good at ballancing but i could balance 1 tht low GOD!!!,she's not tht great

  • omg.... her arabesque is sooo LOW.. she could even balance!!! i would have said that the shank in her pointe shoe didnt fit well but shes not wearing any o_O

  • Thanks! You are sooooo good at ballet!

  • @Tharosa1942 ..... shes not good at ballet..... sorry

  • If it's french, shouldn't it be a terre, and a l'air...?

  • @KDCat36 nope, because it is ON the floor, it's à terre (à meaning on) and it's IN the air -> en l'air (en meaning in) (: Hope I could help.

As for this lady in the video - "en l'air" does not mean "leg in the air". Jeez, first talking about how important french is for ballet and then not getting it right. She's like my English teacher....

  • @TheClaudibo Thanks! I didn't even realize my grammar was off! I was actually referring to her spelling. haha

  • can i just point out ballet blows

  • if everybody supposedly knows whats right and wrong why watch a how to video? yeah that maks no sence

  • @sytan22 ehm..my teacher is 67 years old..lol and she explains very well what you need to do..even if she can`t do it :)

and it`s not if the teacher can do it or not..it`s what you make out of it

  • @srbXOXOgirl93 well first ur teacher is 67. She'd be legendary if she can still do moves amazingly.

Also, you see your teacher is there to tell u if u make a mistake, but here on utube people are relying on the VISUALS to make out what they are doing is correct or not. Her explaining isn't the best either. So yes, for those learning to dance on utube, this is not the person. then again learning to dance over the internet is not very smart either, but u get my point.

  • @sytan22 well..her arabesque is 30° lol

..and you can`t believe everything you see or read on the net :p

  • wtf im really out of shape but even i could lift my leg higher than her :S is it meant to be that low? i lifted mine straight?

  • @pinkpuddles you should lift up your leg as high as you can..and keeping you upper body as straight as possible..the thorax must be faced front..just think of it if some1 was pulling your hair up lol

  • Chaînés

  • "arabesque à terre" and "arabesque en l'air"!!

  • @mulypuce OMG, lol SHE CANNOT SAY THEM RIGHT! lmfao.

  • that arabesque was horrible.

  • B2Bvenusdoom, if you want a good dance school you should google it in your area its hard to find a good one i am switching to a better dance school this year they teach teqnique instead of dances...

  • thats a pretty awful arabesque.....

  • the right way to spell the moves are arabesque par terre and arabesque en l'air

  • @ Ballerina0Girl:

the name of arabesk on the floor is arabesk par terre.

  • what is the name of arabesque that on floor?

  • Arabesque a terre

  • hey...ive been doin ballet for 8 years and im rlly good at it :) but recently i have moved from my country and i didnt find any fine ballet school..but i dont wanna lose these 8 years ..any tips ?

  • Do barre at home (your new home) with an intense workout like pilates. What a bummer though eh? =/

  • HAHAHAHA you are pretty wobbly on your feet

  • hey balet101 what is the website called?

  • Well, not a REALLY hard time finding balance, just a little...wobbly. Idk, she might have just been rearranging her feet.

  • or shes just not able of keepin a balance on 5th Oo'

  • I'm only 11, but I've been dancing for 7 years. It seemed like she was having a hard time finding her balance... wouldn't she be it 3ed position because her she isn't covering her toes?

  • maybe not cause in 3rd u only cover half of ur feet, and u can c clearly shes tryin to cover it all.. and yet at this level they dont use 3rd no longer, ive been dancin for bt 7 years too :)

  • even though she's all the time in 5th position, it's wrong. Her front foot should be covering ALL the other foot, which, obviously, includes her toes.

  • @miu444 not necessarily.my cousin is a profesional ballet dancer and she says 5th position is however the dance or move calls 4 it 2 be.it could wide and open or closed and covering the other foot.so UR right and wrong at the same time.but if she's teaching a lesson or watever she should do it the way they teach in studio's.

  • @blackroses136 im sorry but what do u mean by a 5th wide and open? if ur sayin what im thinkin of itd be called 4th position.

    glad if u explain,

    xoxo :D

  • @miu444 Srry i jst read tht ovr and it does sound like 5th.i jst use alot of interprative writng...wat im saying is tht itr doesnt always have 2 B completely closed 2 the point were its over her foot i,her 5th could be jst the slightest bend, but on pro. ballet they sometimes wnt UR natural turnout wich she is doing in ths 'thng'

  • @blackroses136 ahh i get ur point now haha' if shes already teachin, she should be a pro and its required for pros complete 5th. if u dont hav a 360º turn out, its really hard to work on it.. ya. yet, shes just.. ¬¬'

  • @miu444 5th position is with the heel at the bone of your big toe not covering the whole foot.

if you actually did ballet you would know that

  • @megadavari If you actually watched pro ballet youd know that :)

  • A movement is hiding the seams, so to speak. It's turning moves into one long, fluid, beautiful motion. The movements appear to be a single motion.

  • 1) someone please explain to me the difference between a 'ballet move' and a 'ballet movement'

    2) why is she standing in "5th" all the time?

    3) thousands and thousands of ballet moves? there aren't THAT many of them

    4) what is with that front arm in her arabesque, which classical technique uses that position????

    5) WHY is this up here? Take it off asap

  • let me help u (i will try my best: experienced dancer for ever 9 yrs):

1.) Ballet move is kind of the same as a position (i.e. first position, arabesque) but a ballet movement is actually movement (i.e. fuette turns, pirouette, plie)

2.) The basic return move is usually first, but some Russian ballet teachers teach it as fifth position.

3.) Yes, there actually are thousands of ballet moves, many of them from originating from France- where ballet was founded.

  • I still don't think there are thousands and thousands of ballet moves/movements...unless you count every single different direction with all different arm positions you can think of

There are plenty to learn anyway.

    x

  • 4.) With her one arm on an acute angle and the other straight foward while in an arabesque is the "third position arabesque". This was most likely taught by many Russian ballerinas.

5.) I dont have the answer to that. Ask the person who made it. =]

PS. are you a dancer? you seem to know what you're talking about

    =] hope I helped

  • Thanks for helping me out with number one, i guess it makes sense now that i think about it.

The arabesque i was commenting on was the one en l'air, her front arm is way too high for Vaganova, I was trained in Vaganova for 6 years, and the arms she uses for the arabesque par terre is not in Vaganova syllabus, it is an english 3rd i think, Vaganova 'only' has 4 arabesques. and we would use 5th position more than first position, i was just wondering why she stood looking like a lemon like that

  • Comment removed

  • i thought this video was supposed to name MOST of the ballet moves but she only named 2 :(

  • lol i kno right?

  • I can tell what's good and bad, I happen to watch ballet and pointe classes.

  • she needs to come & take my ballet one class to know u do a tendu to get in arabesque as she did a 3 th to start go figure & the 1 st like she's pickin a mango from a tree ...really ??

  • My friend is far better... :( I should learn from her.

  • shes pretty bad, but better tan that expertvillage crap

  • shes way better compared to those stiff ppl on expertvillage...

  • thx! im learing ballet for next year cause im joing um could u teach me some of the name of ballet moves k thx message me

  • Her higher arm isn't at the good height. It should be at eyes level.

    x

  • maybe she cant lift her leg to a 90 degrees because she is older .. if you had a brain you would know that.

  • flexi55Chicks if shes a dance teacher it doesnt matter my dance teacher is in her 50's and can do a perfect 90 degree arabesque

  • idinakristinwicked ......... and i care WHY ???

  • well you said its becaus shes older im trying to show you age doesnt matter

  • wht do u mean she cant even do it! u dont no wht see can do she is showing u it that how it ment 2 look u lil twat get a grip

  • we all know that information, duh! i took jazz, and all the techniques are from ballet (main foundation).

  • i think she did well.

  • why the hell is she standing in 5th position???

  • she is really bad at ballet

I have watched some of her videos and she is not very good

  • coooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllll dude lol

  • you are really dumb and brainless! -.-
