@ekpil2000 For hunting most places have rules against larger capacity magazines. For home defense I don't really see how having more shots in your firearm is a bad thing, as long as the user can connect with the gun they're using.
Fully automatic weapons aren't really a factor for most people, they're very expensive. There are a ton of hoops to jump through to legally own one, so if someone is willing to pay the expense and go through the process to get one I don't see a problem with it.

A lot of firearms that are designed for the military aren't so different from firearms designed for hunting or sporting purposes. Plus these guns are used in such a slim amount of them are used in crimes so I see no reason to limit them.

Well the crux of the argument is even if the particular state limits carry permits to those aged 21+ that is still a large proportion of the student body, including staff, who could be armed.
I support the constitution, that if students want to exercise their 2nd amendment right, just like their 1st amendment (and even 21st amendment) right there is a code of conduct, not blanket prohibition, that lays down responsible rules they can expect to live their lives by like gun safety classes, etc.
Right. First, the states don't have a say in that. It's been federal law for some time that prohibits anyone under 21 from purchasing or possessing (unsupervised, anyhow) a handgun. consider that most rifles and shotguns are NOT carry weapons, and handguns are the relevant weapons.
As for that 'code of conduct', I agree. It's already established in the states that allow concealed carry. Certain requirements in order to obtain a permit/license, and to renew periodically.
I'm not aware of any federal law limiting CCW age to 21+ as many states permit 18 year olds and Vermont even permits 16 year olds to carry. I can't find exact numbers but about 1/4 of states allow CCW permits to those under 18. There are also exemptions to those who have been in the military and other exemptions.

Haha I would fail that, have an Ar-15 (so called "assault rifle") and carry a Glock in .40 . Have a few other guns as well and none of them have ever harmed anyone at any point.
Only time I'll use a gun on anyone else ever is in defense.

last 10 years ive bin against guns.
my mother and father where also against guns. when i was 16 they got stabbed by a home intruder because the police didnt respond fastenough. i was lucky that i didnt get a fatal stabbing.
a gun could have saved my parents. i dont understand why the intruder came into our hours we clearly messaged on our lawn with posters this is a GUN FREE HOME.
and still they came after us.

Virginia tech is a perfect example of why people should be armed and able to defend themselves look up the Appalachian law school shooting sometime it never made the news because the gunman who was not allowed to have firearms was stopped by 2 armed students and held until the police could arrive they never fired a shot and the police confiscated a bunch of unused ammunition

Look what happened at the Appalachian Law School in Grundy, Virginia. A student, Peter Odighizuwa, whet nuts and started shooting people dead. Two students had guns in their car. They retrieved them and stopped the massacre. The main-stream media didn't cover this because they don't want you to know that armed teachers/students actually prevents school shootings. This was a Virgina Tech or Columbine that was stopped by armed students.

Hmm, College students, the smartest and most responsible minds of their generation are not trusted to own a gun although they can drive a car, drink, start a family, go to war, fly a plane, study medicine and some are even allowed to vote.

Actually, keep in mind that just over half of traditional undergraduate college/university students in the USA should be under the legal minimum age to purchase/own a handgun. It's worth considering in the argument on whether to allow concealed carry licensees to carry on public campuses.

Well the crux of the argument is even if the particular state limits carry permits to those aged 21+ that is still a large proportion of the student body, including staff, who could be armed.
I support the constitution, that if students want to exercise their 2nd amendment right, just like their 1st amendment (and even 21st amendment) right there is a code of conduct, not blanket prohibition, that lays down responsible rules they can expect to live their lives by like gun safety classes, etc.

Right. First, the states don't have a say in that. It's been federal law for some time that prohibits anyone under 21 from purchasing or possessing (unsupervised, anyhow) a handgun. consider that most rifles and shotguns are NOT carry weapons, and handguns are the relevant weapons.
As for that 'code of conduct', I agree. It's already established in the states that allow concealed carry. Certain requirements in order to obtain a permit/license, and to renew periodically.

I'm not aware of any federal law limiting CCW age to 21+ as many states permit 18 year olds and Vermont even permits 16 year olds to carry. I can't find exact numbers but about 1/4 of states allow CCW permits to those under 18. There are also exemptions to those who have been in the military and other exemptions.
Can't find any federal law limiting pistol ownership to under 21's and considering the states that allow 18yo to buy pistols.
And College is for people of all ages 18 - 80.

If Vermont permits 16 y/o to carry, I find that a bit dangerous.

it should be in the future as well as in the present and past. we are guaranteed all our rights at college except one. students at virginia tech said that if they were allowed to carry a gun they could have stopped the shootings. but virginia tech was in a "gun free zone" aka turkey shoot arena. that is a sad day in our history but if we were truly able to use our second amendment it could have been prevented.

I live in Vermont, where anyone can carry a gun without any permit required, and anyone of age can buy any semi-auto and take it home with them that day...yet we also have the lowest violent crime rate in the US. Please explain.

Man, This is the college I want. A college where every law-abiding citizen is armed and nobody gave it a second thought. I'd check yes for both handgun and "assult" rifle, but I'd rarely carry the rifle because it'd interfere with my backpack. Justsaynotoguns, what is an assault rifle?
