i dont know if anyone knows this but the halo wars trailer is on the human colony world harest. although an agricultaral world, when the covenant glassed the planet they sent harvest into a nuclear winter.

What it means is that a planet's atmsophere is clogged with such an amount of dust and debris that the light/heat/energy of the sun can't reach the planet's surface, thereby creating a permanent winter. The dust and debris generated when the Covenant glasses a planet also results in nuclear winters.

Yep. I honestly don't understand how it is physically possible for the Covies to use superheated plasma as ammo. I know that it is a super conductive gas that is used, and then it is heated and pressured inside the weapons, but no existing metal or alloy can take that kind of heat or pressure... Oh well. Also, if you read the Halo books, there are several battles between their ships, and the only thing that protects them it their shielding. That in mind, my best guess is that the internal workings of their weapons is also protected by shield.
