Awesome recipe! I couldn't find Worcestershire sauce and replaced it with a mix of Soy sauce and Tabasco, it worked wonderfully! The cooking time was correct. The condiment I used was Mayo and Mustard but I also tried it with BBQ sauce and it was lovely! Thank you!
my mom makes them just like you but she doesn't do something right. i am going to go more your measurements and directions this weekend. my family's coming over and my Weber is ready to go. just go some fire starters and a coal tube for starting them. i don't think i will use as much onion. can i sub some other veg or erb. much love and respect. great vid.
continued... if you're interested in seeing it and maybe have some advice or whatever let me know. I had it public, but people were saying nasty things to me, because of how I look due to my illness that I have, and not that I care, but I just didn't feel like dealing with their negative energy. Plus it's not the most professional, as I don't have a separate movable web cam, and I had to show the end result in a second vid.
Hey Scott, thank you for sharing this recipe. Anyhow, I was partly correct on some of the ingredients, except the chili powder, and egg. I will try that. Speaking of hamburger, a chef I worked with showed me a very different ingredient to use in meatloaf. I have a video I made on here, where I show my recipe. I'm not all professional like you, lol, but it makes a fantastic loaf though. The ingredient that seems odd to use is oatmeal. Have you ever heard of this? I have the video on private, but
@thedoomclock Because of the way their root words are pronounced. Hamburger originates from Hamburg, with a hard "g". Manager comes from "manage", with a soft "g" or "j" sound. Hence when you add the "er" suffix to the word, you retain the "g" sound from the root word.
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - not sure where you got your information, but here's a little information that may enlighten you: In the late eighteenth century, the largest ports in Europe were in Germany. Sailors who had visited the ports of Hamburg, Germany and New York, brought this food and term "Hamburg Steak" into popular usage. To attract German sailors, eating stands along the New York city harbor offered "steak cooked in the Hamburg style."
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - In 1802, the Oxford English Dictionary defined Hamburg steak as salt beef. It had little resemblance to the hamburger we know today. It was a hard slab of salted minced beef, often slightly smoked, mixed with onions and breadcrumbs. The emphasis was more on durability than taste.
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - According to The Food of the Western World - An Encyclopedia of food from North American and Europe:They originated on the German Hamburg-Amerika line boats. There was at that time a famous Hamburg beef which was salted and sometimes slightly smoked. As it was hard, it was minced and sometimes stretched with soaked breadcrumbs and chopped onion. It was popular with the Jewish emigrants, who continued to make Hamburg steaks, as the patties were then called.
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa - and lastly...The Origin of Hamburgers and Ketchup, by Prof. Giovanni Ballarini:
The origin of the hamburger is not very clear, but the prevailing version is that at the end of 1800' s, European emigrants reached America on the ships of the Hamburg Lines and were served meat patties quickly cooked on the grill and placed between two pieces of bread.
@iTzzEuphoriaaaaaa: even the meat paddy might be a german (=> frikadelle, bulette, fleisch-pflanzerl etc.) invention - the way to prepare em for a "hamburger" / burger is not! the basic difference is which kind of meat is used - so burger is beef - frikadelle is a 50/50 mixtur of pork and beef, aigh? in addition there's a million of ways to season a frikadelle, as well as a burger - but - a real "!american!-hamburger" is pure ground beef +black pepper + salt .
This is a really good recipe for a hamburger! It works just fine if you fry it up too. I put in 1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs to make sure it held together and it seemed to work just fine. Thanks so much, I love hamburgers but I just never had a good recipe.
you are sure you added the egg? sometimes i like to add a bit of breadcrumbs in the meat, that is another trick, but in the end, you have to do your best to pack them, put them in the fridge, and most importantly just be carefull and gentle until you get them on the grill

Thank you...recipe came out fantastic...Question though: I also added about a half a cup of flour which I thought would also act as a binding indgredient to the patties. Would this have a different flavor compared to the one you posted in here? Thanks!
