@jackoneill45 no, the engines themselves were built alongside each other or based off each other (or something like that) from what ive read. thats why they can churn out similar visuals and physics.

@nejinaji No they weren't, the DUNIA engine was based off of CryEngine 1 made by a person who used to work at Crytek (no longer), while CryEngine 2 is a completely different engine. It has way better shader and physics technology, and isn't even comparable. The only similarity is they were based off of the same parent engine, but DUNIA is a reworking of CE1, and CE2 is almost a complete rewrite, the only thing that hasn't been completely rewritten were the editing tools for CE1/CE2.

@nejinaji Well the way you say "related" is misleading. The Code is entirely different, since DUNIA still has CE1 stuff in there, and CE2 has NOTHING from CE1. The only relation is the fact that the company worked on the first version of the engine.

You would say the engine for the latest Modern Warfare (IW engine) and the Q3 engine are related, since they practically share the same code base - But the Quake 1 and Q3 engines are not related, because the code is completely different.

They weren't F&^$ing around when they said Crysis for the pc set the standard for graphics in a videogame. That, plus its open environments, plus its sandbox tool (which enables you to make any kind of environment), adds almost infinite replayability and not to mention the hundreds of epic looking mods made for this game. It just might be the ultimate videogame ever created, the only thing tht would top this is a game with the same features, with the ability to make male n female characters. LOL
