I totally agree with your message. Thoreau's message in Civil Disobedience was "if a law is unjust, it's your obligation as a citizen to break the law". It seems radical, but people have put it to use. It was used during the Civil Rights era to end segregation, and now its our turn. If anti-marijuana prohibitionists were able to gather a mass rally, not just one with a bunch of stoners getting fucked up, but a legitimate protest, the government may finally take action with legalization.
The drug war is where libertarians always puss out. They like to pretend the only illegal recreational drug is marijuana because they know there's a little bit of growing public support so they compromise. True libertarians rarely come out full force with the admission that crack and heroin also ought to be legalized.
that is just stupid! i mean i can agree that the prohabition of cannabis is out of line but heroin, crack and methamphetamines????? we dont need a whole new generation of junkies because mine is already lost it. im 19 and ive had my own struggle with opiates like heroin/oxycontin, its a huge problem among young people. maybe strict punishmentisnt the anser maybe we need to look at court ordered sober living. you want to legalize hard drugs? than you the fucking devil in my eyes...
Anybody is invited to come and do whatever their drug of choice is, or no drugs if that's their thing. The War on Drugs doesn't just affect drug users. Tons of money is dumped into it with no benefit to communities. Innocent people are searched with "suspicion of drug" tossed out as the reason. Ever increasing police presence to "combat it". Whatever your reasons, anyone is invited to attend. :)
I fail to see how having people getting drunk and shooting up heroine doing lines of coke and other drugs in public having anything to do with more freedoms for the people?? Or better yet walking around topless in public? Whats the message here to the public? If they don't like it hide in your house or move to a new town/ state? They talk about posting address of Law Enforcement officers on web sites who they feel are over the top. I say we post photos and address of all know FSP members.
Specifically, ending the war on drugs has a lot to do with freedom because the war on drugs itself has been a very oppressive and destructive policy. I'm watching to see how things go. As a cause the free state project is still in its infancy. Whether it suffers a crib death or not depends on the willingness of its supporters to learn how to be effective at what they're doing.
Tax payers are funding more police, more weapons, test kits and all the goodies the police have to crack down on drugs. Searches are performed with "stopping the flow of drugs" cited as the reason. Governments are intruding more and more into the lives of peaceful people in the name of fighting drugs and it isn't confined JUST to drug users. Bring this to people's minds and changing those issues is what this is about, and it will result in people being more free.
As I have said before I had been supporting some of the idea's of the free state project. Then I said with all the crap they are pulling that really has nothing to do with gaining us more rights I was moved to the fence. With this open drug use planned I'M now off and fence and as a life long NH native I'M now anti free stater /project it's self. I will now be leading the fight to bring down the FSP from the other side.
I was going to say something to directly respond to you but I think I'd rather point out to the Freestaters that this is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Of the 300 million people in America how many do you think haven't set their opinions in concrete? How many of those would you like to convince to support rather than oppose you?
As I have said before I was supporting them fully when they started. With the idea of moving here to fight for more rights I was on board with that all the way. Started with open carrying and getting gun rights out there for the masses. But the last year or so the battles they are picking have nothing to do with more rights. It's more about doing what ever they want and making the rest of us deal with it. Sorry but they did this to them self's they pushed me over to the other side.
You're falling into a collectivist trap there. I've even had other Free Staters say "this is a bad idea". I moved to New Hampshire as part of the FSP, but nobody IS the FSP. The FSP isn't organizing a drug-free-for-all, I'm trying to. The FSP isn't "picking battles", I am.
You said you support some of the ideas that bring many of us here. I invite you then, to "do it right". Organizing something that YOU would get behind and let us know. I'll be there if it's a stand for more freedom.
let me guess you appose legalization not because you would like to see freedoms increased and lower taxes but its because they are bad and so are the users. Lets just leave out the dope growers from afghanistan. They only produce 80% of the worlds opium. So with all the dope there and you cant fly with out a snap shot of you balls how dose the opium get here Magic? Are we to believe the lie it all comes from mexico? Is that part of why the boarder was left open? Or is it the CIA's C130 airplane?
I guess this comes down to picking your battles. On principle it might be right but from a PR standpoint its a BAD BAD idea. Do you want to make progress or do you want to give the opposing side ammunition to drop a PR napalm bomb? People still don't seem to get the idea that you have to consider whether your actions are going to turn middle-of-the- road opinion for or against the cause. (part 1 of 2)
part 2 of 2- I can tell you right now that the opponents of liberty will start saying "See? they started "doing" Pot in the park and now they're moving on to harder drugs." And then they'll go on to play on every fear anyone has regarding drug use and of course will start screaming "Think about the children."
Just to recap...If your goal is to gain more support for the cause of Liberty this is a BAD BAD BAD idea.
What goal of liberty? The FPS is nothing more then a gang now. each nut job has their own goals they want to push. They start to many battles on to many fronts with out even gaining any ground on any topic or winning any of the battles. They are now just like any other gang out there. There message is"We will do what we want when we want. If you don't like it move" Well I say enough is enough I will allow no oneto moveto my state and try and bully me or my family around. Winds of change are coming
Your state? Do you have the deed to prove that you own it? You got it close though. Their message is "We will do what we want as long as we don't hurt anyone else and if you don't like it, tough. How are they bullying you? Have they tried to force you to do anything or punished you for not doing anything?
Its a lot tougher to unite individualists than it is to unite sheep and robots. But its coming together, growing pains notwithstanding.
I want to see people free to use any drug they wish. I encourage and support safely doing just that.
Marijuana has been illegal for longer than I've been alive. There's a mountain of evidence that it's less harmful that the now-legal drugs, and yet... it's still illegal.
It's crystal clear to ME at least, that "winning the minds" of some people can't EVER be done. Given that...
When IS the right time to get out there and advocate for the more stigmatized things?
I agree with you on people having their own choices. I believe in Jefferson's idea of freedom. "Do what you want as long as it harms no one." However, we are dealing with several generations of people raised on propaganda. I think its bad strategy to give the other side any ammunition to take advantage of people's fear right now. It would set back the legalization movement. Weed is the major battle. Win that one and we'll be in a better position to win the whole war.
i dont think this one is a good idea!!! u wont bring positive awareness by having someone show up with coke or heroin and banging it in their arm!!! ive seen it, something creepy about it and it just wont go well with people!
We need to revolt from being slaves is what it is!!!!!

the fda made a law that only a drug can be used to treat or cure a disease. this is making a complete and protected monopoly for the drug industry. they even promote the books the doctors read to get an MD. Marijuana is against the law because it's a plant they can't patent and can be easily grown in your back yard.
