Now that I'm no longer so called "walking with god" on the sand. Then I can let my crazyness flow and see how not walking normal like has en effect on my existence. Like what would rolling around on one's side mean in this poem reality? What would the bunny hop mean? What would me just stoping and asking quests to myself mean? And what would writing stuff in the sand mean? I wonder these random questions thanks to looking at the poem in a new light, and thanks for that! :3
I just watched a dozen or so of your video's and I respect all of your opinions and I think you come across greatly. However, taking a cheap shot at this poem is disgusting and beneath you. As corny as it may seem, you should have just let it alone.
This is what I tried to explain to my mother about renouncing faith. You are not losing hope, you're finding it where it came from in the first place, in yourself.
We carried ourselves with the resources G:d gave us. Of course, when I think G:d, I think "The Universe" or, thanks to Carl Sagan, "The Cosmos". I use them to mean essentially the same thing.
I don't believe that 2 believe in God we must stop taking credit for our strengths and our will 2 do what is right. Nor do I believe that bein athiest means u no longer hav 2 hav a moral compass. the individual is happier when everyone follows fair rules so when the group is happy, the individual is happy. violence, selfishness and weakness/laziness causes negativity/harm/sadness/anger and there fore, when people avoid them, we r all happier for it. the individual benefits by bein moral
@sherrys6214 They are trying to psychologically tell you that those desirable traits can only be achieved if you buy the product. In religions case, if you get jesus and the holy spirit, only then can you fully experience joy and meaning in life. Human control at its best. you're living proof.
Religion in general (yes, christianity included) is like one of those misinforming beer commercials.
You see people together as a community enjoying their time together, enjoying each others company, etc. You see a menagerie of desirable scenarios playing out, but what do you see in the middle of every misinforming advertisement commercial? the product they are trying to sell.
To make his creations betray their own logic in order to believe in anecdotal evidence is appallingly absurd and infinitely stupid in every way imagineable. I wish God and hell existed just so your god could be indefinitely tortured for the crimes he has committed against humanity and human progress.
I really liked the video ZJ.. I remember I felt this way when I was young while still believing the kiddie stories of the Bible... But I never had a difficult time in my life with anything.. I always had the easy street because I lean on others to get me through problems. Perhaps God was some sort of safety net.. but this kind of feeling of loss later in life is worse for those like me.. the ones who don't have the strength or resilience to handle the challenges of life.
Been training in lucid dreaming for years, it's no where near enough, that is quite the reality to explore. Another reality period! I'm sure you base all your conclusions on your experience in this reality, natural. I've been entering this other for sometime, its extended my perception. Takes years of developing, just as a new birth to this reality we know well will take years to learn and understand if you don't believe, it will never exist for you, and you'll never travel through that door.
Go ahead, rationalize me, stereotype or assume, but high I am not! Did you read all my comments? Didn't know you have been to the 35th dimension, anyway your missing the not so visiable points, ideas in my comments. The mathimatical odds are just too incredible. My lucid dreaming point just proves how something can or can not exist depending on an individuals belief. The true extent of what I believe also can't be explained here, your getting fragments, so I see how it can throw you off
I find it sad when people cyrstalize into something and that is it! I'm this or I'm that. No you are free, ever growing, believe whatever you want as a continual growth proccess to come to the meaning of your life. If your an Atheist, heck you can return to that belief anytime you wish, why spend a lifetime there, not knowing what it's like to truly live and understand with openness all the many many other sides. No human is all knowing about- universe, existence, consciousness. Its up to you!
@VarvaraBell Do you personally pick and choose what you believe that whimsically? My atheism is based on my understanding of reality. The same way that I couldn't decide one morning, "Today I'm going to try believing that bleach is a delicious beverage, not poisonous!" I couldn't decide to believe in some religion to find out "what it's like" if I don't have any actual basis upon which to believe it's true.
Maybe you just use the word "believe" very differently than I do.
@noforbiddenquestions Science supports dimensions I think to 35. And we're in what, a 5 dimensional, time, height etc. What beings are in those others? You might find a pixie there, so you've never seen one here. Didn't know atheists or any other for that matter star treked to the billions of galaxies, endless space, dimensions, quantum leaped, and has come back to tell me he's all knowing, odds are against him.
@noforbiddenquestions the mathimatical odds are just incredible, but lets say this for all those billions of galaxies, the scientific theory on the dimensions, the endless space, quantum level. If we give that a value of 100%, we as humans have travelled into it, discovered it and understand it at a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of 1% out of that hundred. And Atheists claim they don't have to make a leap of faith. But how can I give a value of 100% to the eternal and neverending.
@noforbiddenquestions temporary right, now, but, I'll put things into scientific terms with the word "Body" now I can classify everything as a body, My tea cup is a body, a body of water, it once was a body of ice, you could make a bowl from the top of my skull to go with the tea cup, part of my body, So if a body can exist without a spirit, why can't a spirit exist without a body, so I happen to be in a state of duality here in this realm
@noforbiddenquestions If you have a center, then you have a circumference, if you have a circumference it traps, if it traps it rottens, if it rottens, it is lifeless, if it is lifeless it is dead! Oh so I sould never have a center, a new center has just been created, I love to ponder that over and over.
@noforbiddenquestions Sorry if no one believes I can building jump, "Just like in the movie, The Matrix!" But the highest state of altered reality is just like that movie in Lucid Dreaming, or Star Trek, your own personal Holadeck. Im still developing it and learning, so of course I'm no where near the full extent and level in lucid dreaming, but It takes a life time to become a master musician too. I know this state exists, and the levels to it, but I can never make you believe it does.
@VarvaraBell Wow. It sounds like you are high. Your understanding of science leaves much to be desired. But I can't explain the complexities of M-theory to you here. Let me just ask you this one question: Do you believe in *everything*, even mutually exclusive things? (i.e., Do you believe that fairies exist in the "35th dimension"? Do you believe in Yahweh, Allah, Vishnu, Odin, *and* Quetzalcoatl?)
You, nobody, can prove 100% that there is or isn't a God! Science can support either way, Science has a track record of coming up short, theories are amended or changed, once clear they were wrong. Belief is huge, faith is huge. If I can lucid dream and I explain the whole thing to you, but you say hogwash, choose not to belive in it. Build and support your belief, you will never lucid dream, It dosen't exist for you, but I belive different, and have experienced, cultivated it, it exists for me.
I always quite liked that poem, the only bit that displeased me was, the emphasis on this 'higher being' ,having to be the only other answer, to the other set of footprints. I still like the poem, only these days I ignore 'the push' on it having to be a God!!
Love this vid, ZJ ! I think it can be helpful for helping some folks realize their own inner power to persevere and remind them of the the glory they rightfully earned for themselves in both the good and the bad times.
@sherrys6214 "We are made in the image of God. Not being God's our selves, but having his attributes."
"I'm not here to argue or convince..."
No? You may believe what you want to believe, but don't confuse that with knowledge that is gained with hard work. Your subscription to your own subjective experience as others' realities is one of the most wrong-headed aspects of religious faith, oh drive-by witnesser.
Great message, ZJ. This poem's popularity always annoys me >.< I really like how you made this positive and uplifting instead of defensive or angry. You deprive the bible thumpers of ammo that way XD If only it could stop them from bible trollin' XD
I have no problem with what people choose to believe or don't choose to believe, but this was a bunch of bull. The one thing I hate most is when non-Christians who don't study the bible and don't speak with pastors try to do things like this. What i'm about to say goes for both Christians and non-Christians...unless you've studied the bible AND been a part of the religion (even talking with pastors), you have NO right to argue for or against Christianity.
@matrix86 I study the Bible -- constantly. It was the study of the Bible that led to my Atheism. It sounds to me like you don't know much about the Bible. I suggest you look to scholarly writings on Biblical Historical criticism. You amy want to read Ehrman or Robin Wright or Perhaps Jack Goode. All current and former Christians. What you will find if you study is that the Bible is not what you think it is -- and it was not written by whom you think is was. you sound a little ignorant.
@irisheye801 "I study the Bible -- constantly." Then clearly my comment wasn't directed to you. Even someone like you should have figured that one out. "the Bible is not what you think it is -- and it was not written by whom you think is was." The Bible is merely a guide. It was written by man (not God) and man is flawed. That's why I don't take it literally like Catholics do. I know the history of the Bible. And I know there are dozens of books that weren't included making it incomplete.
@irisheye801 I was responding to your statement : "unless you've studied the bible AND been a part of the religion (even talking with pastors), you have NO right to argue for or against Christianity". Being part of the religion is the problem. The Bible is the problem. Maybe not for you. Sounds like you might have the right perspective on it. But for all the others who form beliefs on topics such a same sex marriage, gender equality or racism, the Bible is a terrible weapon.
You're 100 incorrect. If you live in a free society, you have every right to argue for or against something you aren't intimately involved with. I've never experienced abortion or been close to someone who has gone through it, but I certainly can argue FOR it if I so choose. It's a good thing you don't run the world with your broad ultimatums.
@rusH1023 Arguing about abortion is NOTHING like arguing about Christianity. Christianity is SERVERLY complex. There are dozens of denominations (& many of those have denominations) & each one interperets and believes different things & worships in different ways. If you want to say "God isn't real end of story" then fine. But if you're going to start picking it apart you better know what you're getting into. It just doesn't make sense to fight for or against something you know NOTHING about.
Sorry, Matrix -- I meant to address irisheye's comment. We're on the same side. And for the record, after reading your comment back to me, it appears that I'm your master in destroying religious rhetoric. :)
perfect! if only more people realized that all we need is inside us and possibly in the support and encouragement of friends and family. people who look for some magical / supernatural force to guide them are doomed to disappointment and frustration.
What I have learned as a believer....When I believe, he shows himself to me. Besides the evidence from bible prophesy I know he is true from the prayers he answers in my life. Genuinely ask the Lord to remove your pride and show you he is there and he will. Be patient, he answers in perfect timing. Be careful. In the bible, it gives accounts of people who he showed himself to, yet they still did not believe in him. Choose him or choose eternity without him. It will not be spring in hell.
@sherrys6214 not only that but the endtime prophecies as well we are also seeing a mighty book of Acts revival i hope and pray it will be so strong it will pull many atheists and homosexuals into the truth and they will get baptized in the name of JESUS CHRIST Acts 2:38 its time for the apostolic Holy Ghost filled saints of the most high to fight the good fight of faith and stop being afraid to get on here and confront all these abominable people who are turning many into satanism and gays
@sherrys6214 funny how any religion all claim to have the right answers, have had prophecies fulfilled, a special dispensation and also condemn those who do not agree with their dogma or belief system. Their beliefs are so difficult to understand that even in their own belief system there is dissension, disagreement and condemnation to all parties involved. A god who allows this to go on is as evil as those he created, ie devils and demons, but a better answer is he does not exist at all.
There is only one truth. That is Jesus Christ as savior. It is not a religion. It is God's way to salvation. You can choose not believe all you want, but that is not going to save you from the inevitable. Ask God to remove your pride and help you see.
@sherrys6214 please sir/mam if you're going to tell him/her to believe what he/she wants to then don't add the part in that you terrorists do. And that's what I believe you are doing, converting through fear. Learn to be tolerant.
@sherrys6214 You seem like a sincere person, but how do you expect us people who do not believe to take what you say seriously, when all the other religions say the same as you do. They all say that they have prophecies that have come true, follow someone else and suffer. Are they all really just the same religion with different names. You say that the lord made up the rules, but nobody really can even agree on that, then they change it whenever they want to, The only constant is the gullibility
That is a good question. Knowing God is not a religion. There is only one way, he gave us the bible so we can know his way. We are sinners and sin is choosing evil over God. We must admit that we are sinners and have faith in Jesus Christ as savior to atone for our sins. Asking him to show you that you are a sinner is a good place to start. He paid the penalty in full. We can not do anything to earn our way into heaven....Watch -(††† God of Wonders ††† 1 of 8 Documentary)-
@sherrys6214 And also, i suggest that if you only love your god with the reward of heaven in mind, or on the basis of fear of hell, then you deserve to burn honestly.
@sherrys6214 I feel so bad for you Christians or anyone who thinks that they are such bad people and are sinners. So what do you do, sin, feel bad, ask jesus for forgiveness and then sin again? But what did jesus pay the penalty for? If he knew he was the son of god, and he knew the future, then he also knew that he would be killed, but he really could not die, so was it all just a big show and a big lie to drop all this guilt onto humanity, after all he was Jewish!LOL
We will never be perfect, but we praise God because we are so thankful for salvation even though we do not deserve it. When you have Jesus in your heart, you will begin to feel convicted about sinning against God because he did so much for us. When we are in sin, we feel far away from God,so we pray that God will deliver us from the sin we are involved in. God allowed himself to die so we might be saved. He died for us. He loves us.
@sherrys6214 I am so sorry that you feel so bad about yourself, it sounds as if your punishing yourself for something that was not your fault. The way you write does not indicate a humble person but a hurt person, someone who has suffered and is still scarred. I don't know who did this to you, please do not blame yourself, it was not your fault. But you can do what no god can do for you, is to realize that you are a good person, treat others kindly from the heart, it will all fall into place.
Thank you for your kind words, but no one is good. I do not feel bad about myself. I see that I am a sinner in need of a savior and rely on God's power to change me. I take responsibility, but see also that I am weak. This is a good video on explaining this...."What LDS Thomas Monson wont preach on"
@sherrys6214 If there was such a thing as "salvation", I do deserve it. I have led a decent life, and have always tried to help and not hurt those in my path. I am not a saint, but I have always tried hard to do the right thing: BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IN YOURS OR ANYONE ELSE'S GOD! I am not a "sinner". Go worry about your sins by yourself. Good luck. Jesus did not die for me and I'm glad. There are soldiers in Arlington cemetary who died for me, and I honor them. Jesus? No Way!
Watch youtube video "††† God of Wonders ††† 1 of 8 Documentary" to get a clearer picture of what I mean. Watch all 8 parts, the end ties it all together.
@sherrys6214 If someone from some remote Island who never knew god were to come up to you and ask that you show him/her your god, what would you say? (Sherry talking to the new guy)Sorry, but he can't be seen, nor will he talk to you. But if you believe in him, after you die, you will live forever. Oh and by the way are you gay, cause Jesus hates ya'all, so never mind the stuff I just told you, you're going to hell anyway. Bye, bye, Jesus loves you!
No matter what your sin is, if you put your hope faith and trust in Jesus christ as savior. YOU ARE SAVED. Ask him to show you that you are a sinner. This is when you ask him to deliver you from it. FULLY RELY ON HIM. There is nothing inside you that can make you whole. If you ask Jesus in your heart and are still struggling with this sin, that does not mean you are going to hell. God does not want you to feel damnation, he wants you to fully rely on his power to change you.
@sherrys6214 You've already given up your being to something with not a shred of evidence, preaching that faith is an actual virtue. believing something and 'taking people's word for it' that all of these events happened and continue to happen is simply irrational and detrimental to our growth as people. To say that you can't make yourself whole is such a slap in the face to yourself and to humanity. You are demeaning such an intelligent and rare being. and it's disrespectful. so please stop...
I know deep down that he exists. He is part of me. I have never questioned that. I also know he is real from the multitude of prayers he answers in my life. If you believe you can make yourself whole, then you don't understand that you are a sinner. If you ask Jesus in your heart, you will begin to see and rely on his power to change you. He loves you and has a plan for you. Put your hope, faith ad trust in him. It is foolish to deny God.
@sherrys6214 You just proved my point. God is in the neurons. He dwells within your emotions. He dwells within your uncertainties. He fills in any crack or gap that you want him to. He is the fix all absolute that you were most likely taught at a young influential age to rely on by parents who didn't know better. I never denied the existence of God. Only religion and all human concepts of the God religion entails. And just because you feel it is true, doesn't mean it actually is.
God gave us the bible so we would have the opportunity to know him. He was gracious enough to offer salvation to a dieing world. He is God and powerful enough to protect his word. Unfortunately many people don't have a correct understanding of the bible in it's entirety...In case you want to know...Check out videos of Chuck Missler on youtube for good bible teaching. This is a video explaining who we are as sinners..."What LDS Thomas Monson wont preach on"
Do you know that every time you mention what "god" did, you speak as if the work of proving the existence of said deity has actually been done for you? It has not, and thus you continue to make proclamations based only on your subjective experiences based in fervent need and fear.
Directing others to watch videos because you yourself cannot respond to logical statements doesn't bode well for you.
Proclaiming your supernatural beliefs fervently and frequently goes no length to support your god's existence.
The problem is that you don't speak like a rational person, but with the zeal of someone trapped in a horribly deceitful delusion. I'm sorry, but there is no puppet-master except the one lodged in your brain. Spare us its proselytization.
"I am not here to argue or convince...Only to tell you what I know."
What a perfect example of religious thinking conveniently exempting itself from logic and reason. You don't have to think, do you? Scrutiny and critical thought have been safely sealed off from your airtight little circular reasoning chamber. Christianity did that to you; congratulations! You are an official zombie.
"I will pray god will show you."
Nothing fails like prayer, or haven't you read the studies?
I am not powerful enough to change your heart. Only God's holy spirit is capable of achieving that. God answers many of my prayers. Trust me he is real and he loves us. Check out my videos, it is possible while watching them he will tug on your heart. Forget everything you have learned about religion and ask the Lord to show you the way. Just remember he loves you and he just wants you to know him.
If a god existed, and if that was true and important, and if this god were omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient, he could and would tell me himself.
The fact that this meaningless declaration necessitates constant proliferation by religion's spin doctors reveals that, in fact, god does not exist.
Harry Potter loves you.
You may as well be an excited 5-year old yelling, "I like candy!"
God does not always show himself to someone who will not believe in him. He gives accounts in the bible of showing himself to unbelievers, yet they still did not believe. If you were really rich, would you tell every one you dated. No, because you would not want someone to love you just because you have something to offer. His blessings are for those who put their hope, faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.
"God does not always show himself to someone who will not believe in him."
Cute! Just like Tinkerbell from Peter Pan.
"His blessings are for those who put their hope, faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and savior."
You already said that.
I know you feel privileged and believe you have something to offer. But from the perspective of anybody but a Christian, you come across as the worst kind of arrogant because you actually have nothing to show for your claims. Stop.
It's not about being privileged. He just wants us to believe before showing himself. If you ask him genuinely to show himself to you he will. Be patient and don't expect a burning bush. He will answer your prayers. Seek him first and then he will give you the desires of your heart. He is a father who wants us to follow him because that is what is best for us. He loves us.
"He just wants us to believe before showing himself. "
Nope. He is unknowable, invisible, and a figment of your mind. He is most likely an area of your brain.
"Seek him first and then he will give you the desires of your heart."
Why would you believe I haven't already found them? Oh, yes, because when you convince yourself you "know" something that you do not, all logic easily follows out the window.
I certainly don't think you're privileged. I would never belong to a superstitious whose livelihood has primarily been supported by zealous indoctrination of children from birth on.
But for the indoctrinated, it is definitely all about feeling superior and being privileged. A heavenly, slave-master reward system cannot help but instill this in followers even while mislabeling it.
You ought to be ashamed of your intellectual dishonesty.
"I am telling you these things because I care about you."
You don't know who I am, and telling me that you "care about me" is as removed from reality as you can get. Praying for me is only the Christian's way of earning salvation, and is thus a reward system. You can't do anything good for the sake of doing something good. Immoral.
You must say the same thing to children who don't know you. Does religion get a free pass for inappropriate behavior? Yes, it seems that it does.
I care very much about you. That is why I am taking the time to reply to your comments. I do not have to earn salvation. I put my hope, faith and trust in Jesus Christ. He has already paid the penalty for my sin. I care about you because God's holy spirit has enabled me too. That is why I don't get upset with you derogatory comments. When you ask Jesus Christ in your heart, his holy spirit comes in you and begins to change you.
" care very much about you. That is why I am taking the time to reply to your comments."
I do not take your word for it.
"I do not have to earn salvation. I put my hope, faith and trust in Jesus Christ.."
That's very sad to me, since Jesus Christ doesn't exist.
"He has already paid the penalty for my sin."
This is the most obscene and absurd aspect of Christianity. That you can't see this is your own pitfall. It is not only impossible, but the very idea is immoral.
" I care about you because God's holy spirit has enabled me too."
Woo-woo.
"When you ask Jesus Christ in your heart, his holy spirit comes in you and begins to change you."
One of the biggest problems with theists is an inability to use "I" statements when talking about their subjective synaptic firings. Your revelations bore. Real life is much more fascinating. You ought to give it a try, and stop pretending to love people you don't know to make yourself feel worthy.
I don't need to do anything to feel worthy. God loves me. And he loves you too. I will pray you will know this some day. If millions of people disappear, do not be deceived, they were not abducted by aliens. And yes I'm serious...God raptured them from earth before his wrath is poured out. If you are left, confess that you are a sinner and ask Jesus in your heart as Lord and Savior immediately. Check out wereuleft com
I have no reason to believe that's anything by your poor brain on god-juice.
"And he loves you too."
If you were really as selfless as you pretend to be, you would not continue to tell this to people who have no interest in your or anybody else's invisible friends. It's like a child saying that his invisible dragon likes me. Except it's an adult, and so that much more disturbing.
"f millions of people disappear, do not be deceived, they were not abducted by aliens."
Your poor, poor brain.
"And yes I'm serious"
Oh, I know you are. Hence my previous comment.
"If you are left, confess that you are a sinner and ask Jesus in your heart as Lord and Savior immediately."
Your poor brain. I feel really sorry for the profoundly deluded. It's time for you to shuffle off now, okay? No more of your childish nonsense. No more attention to you, k? Buh bye now.
By admitting you base your God thing off of faith, you commit a logical fallacy.
any loving and smart god would realize that eventually anecdotal "evidence" loses substance, and to expect people to be stupid enought to accept a intellectual fallacy is disgusting and immoral. If god were smart, you would think he would leave mountains of scientific evidence and at least attempt to edit the bible to take out all of the contradictions and immoral concepts of genocide, homophobia, etc
@sherrys6214 You should question your faith very strongly in order to be at the level of certainty you claim to be on. By never questioning, you are making a huge leap in judgement, and taking whatever people taught you as true. Think about it, sherry. As you grew through many obstacles in your life, you were taught to depend on your Christian faith. This total reliance has led you to MISINTERPRET emotion. It's also very bad reasoning. "oh the traffic lights are all turning green. God loves me!"
@sherrys6214 I can tell you right now that I am not going to hell, and you're not going to a heaven, since neither exists. The only real substance that any religion has, is the fanaticism of its followers. That is the only real tactile object, its followers. You are peddling a product with no tangible means of showing your clients that you are not indeed blowing the proverbial supernatural smoke up the keester. My dear, you are very eloquent, but your arguments are baseless and without merit.
@sherrys6214 It's not pride that keeps Atheists from becoming Christians. It's Reason, Critical Thinking, and the demand for real, independantly verifiable Evidence. Religion cannot withstand such scrutiny. Pride, arrogance, rebellion, etc. has nothing to do with it.
@sherrys6214 Anecdotal evidense is uncompelling. Being one of the people who saw one of these dream apparitions of Jesus, I certainly understand how personally convincing they can be. However it would be a slap in the face of common sense to leap to the conclusion that God exists based on unverifiable hearsay, when a natural explaination for these phenomena is possible (and far more probable).
@sherrys6214 We both know that he (God) has not shown himself to anyone. Why would he in this day and age of total communication around the world not show himself to the world. Instead the religions say he will wait until judgement day and then make himself known? What is he waiting for? good weather? There is a minister who says that Jesus will come back May of this year, I forget what day. What will happen to the credibility of god and religion, when he does not show up? Care to make a wager?
He shows himself to me when I am faithful in believing. He answers my prayers. Any one who says they know the day of God's return does not know the bible. The Bible clearly states that know one will know the exact day or hour. If you want to get a better understanding of the bible...Check out videos from....Chuck Missler
JZ, as a fairly new atheist I struggled with feeling as though without a God my life didn't have a purpose, and I felt scared and alone, as pathetic as that sounds. This really helped me. Thanks.
@sherrys6214: Excellent question! As I entered higher education, my professors and instructors taught and encouraged me to think critically about issues. In conjunction with this, as I studied science more and more I found that the Judeo-Christian doctrines concerning God seem to be inconsistent with what science is telling us. After a lot of thinking about it, I dismissed the idea of a personal God and took on deism; after some time, I took on agnosticism. For me, it was a slow process.
@sherrys6214: Finally, I made the "conversion" to atheism because I no longer could believe in a personal God, and I no longer believed any sort of God (theistic or deistic) was necessary to have created to universe and its contents - including me. When one takes some serious time to consider all the factors, weigh all the evidence objectively, instead of presupposing the validity of one side or the other, that person is likely to become an atheist. When looked at objectively, one finds there
@sherrys6214: aren't any good reasons to believe that a God exists. Our internal sentiments do not constitute a good reason, for what is true of the world is not obliged to conform to our internal sentiments; as well, having been raised in a certain tradition does not constitute a good reason for believing something either. We have the power to think for ourselves - and its a darn shame if we don't use that. Therefore I refuse to believe simply because that is how I was raised.
@sherrys6214: And finally, some other questions bothered me very badly. Questions like "if God is all powerful, why doesn't he just speak to me and reveal himself to me? Certainly he has the power to do that." Many answer by saying God works in mysterious ways, etc etc. But after a while, I found that to just be a cop-out. Perhaps the most serious charge against the idea of God is that if an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving God existed, human suffering would not.
@sherrys6214: Religious folk tend to think that human suffering exists because of sin, and sin exists because Eve disobeyed God, or what have you. But again, this doesn't make sense. How do we know Adam and Eve ever really existed? We don't know that. And furthermore, if God is all-powerful AND all-knowing, then God would have already known Eve was going to disobey him. So if he already knew, why would he create her such that she would disobey? It just doesn't add up.
@sherrys6214: Once again, its a cop-out. To say that suffering exists because of sin and sin exists because of the original sin of Adam and Even is a cop-out. But it doesn't work. If an all powerful, loving, and knowing creator existed, human suffering could not exist.
This is exactly how I felt when I lost god (read as: found myself). I had this great sense of, Whoah, I'm awesome! Also, where do you get the music for your videos, they're very calming.
@Neptunion118 By asserting that we, as humans, are capable of doing great things on our own, you claim Zinnia is giving atheists a bad name? Pardon me as I disagree.
I always thought there was a God there who was carrying me through everything and after becoming an Atheist I wanted to just kill myself. I realized that God was never really there to begin with. It was an illusion. I always carried myself. I always loved myself. etc. Thanks ZJ, Love and Peace- aaron
I'm sorry for offending you. God loves you dear. I pray you will see that someday. Just to let you know. In the bible it prophesies the 2nd return of Jesus Christ. If millions of people disappear, do not be deceived, they were not abducted by aliens. And yes I am serious...Check out wereuleft com Also check out video.."What LDS Thomas Monson wont preach on" In case the Lord ever softens your heart and removes your pride, this will give you a good start to having faith. I will pray often for you.
I am an atheist myself, but my question is to you ZJ, how do you justify your non-belief for any religion? I think the christian belief is illogical and ridiculous, too, but surely there are other religions that are more potentially correct? Forgive if i am wrong, and congratulation for success on your many amazing videos
@sherrys6214 wow. just. wow. i would love to believe that you are joking, i would love to believe i live in a world where people don't get so entirely fucked up in the head, but alas, i cannot fool myself. "loving sin"? really? fuck off. no, really, get the fuck off youtube, kill yourself, and go see if you big man in the sky is really there. take your asinine preaching and shove it up your ass. no atheist loves sin, people are atheist because they see through your iron age dogma. you are scum.
When I look back on the sands of my life, there are always several pairs of footprints. Some come and some go, but mine are always there. As are those of my parents, my wife (since I met her), and my child (since she was borne - what cute little footyprints she had!). Through the toughest parts of my life, those are the prints that have been constant. Most of all, my feet remained on the ground the whole time. And I survived it all, stronger for the experience.
Frank aka Zina ...... the first time an older man did things to you how old were you and how long before that did your father leave ? Have you ever had a father fiqure in your life ?
Yours is a side, lonely existance , isn't it? Flaming people on the web with poor arguments and little to no logical connection between your thoughts ...instead of doing something productive with your life. You should be proud of yourself. Really.
@hanksnow82 I have never insulted another person's beliefs as you imply. I am actually not atheist. I don't know if that is your assumption, and where you got this assumption from. The fact that you "don't feel compelled to trash people that believe in a higher power" is fine. But why do you feel compelled to trash people that talk to you?
My personal philosophy has always been about the strength to move forward coming from myself. It is actually that philosophy that bought me to the conclusion that some big creator in the sky was impossible. I even to this day hate the idea of having my fate controlled by some invisible being. I also despise the idea that i would only be able to be successful with the help of said being. I can only really see religion as a weakness. It cripples people.
HA! Your silly... the "intelligent people of this world keep trying to jam pack there expertise on God and how for this or that reason he doesn't exist. Do you realize that Gods point in being contradictory is to provide doubt... the "Christan" God that you keep talking of; and the illogical conclusions over your misrepresentation of scripture, that leads you to, that it is inconceivable to logicality prove he exists. That's there for a reason; what would be the point of everyone believing?
@last1gone What would be the point of everyone believing something if it were actually true?
That entire objection almost seems to encapsulate everything wrong with this religious outlook. The point of everyone believing something that's true is that their beliefs will accord with the state of reality. You consider this undesirable?
@ZJemptv We are talking about God and the basis for your objection to and, or of him and religion. If you would kindly answer the question; what would be the point of everyone believing in God? I will provide my point and accompany it with a viable explanation.
I like your perspective on the Footprints poem, it makes a lot of sense!

VarvaraBell 1 year ago

VarvaraBell 1 year ago
@noforbiddenquestions the mathimatical odds are just incredible, but lets say this for all those billions of galaxies, the scientific theory on the dimensions, the endless space, quantum level. If we give that a value of 100%, we as humans have travelled into it, discovered it and understand it at a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of 1% out of that hundred. And Atheists claim they don't have to make a leap of faith. But how can I give a value of 100% to the eternal and neverending.
VarvaraBell 1 year ago

VarvaraBell 1 year ago
@VarvaraBell Wow. It sounds like you are high. Your understanding of science leaves much to be desired. But I can't explain the complexities of M-theory to you here. Let me just ask you this one question: Do you believe in *everything*, even mutually exclusive things? (i.e., Do you believe that fairies exist in the "35th dimension"? Do you believe in Yahweh, Allah, Vishnu, Odin, *and* Quetzalcoatl?)
noforbiddenquestions 1 year ago
You, nobody, can prove 100% that there is or isn't a God! Science can support either way, Science has a track record of coming up short, theories are amended or changed, once clear they were wrong. Belief is huge, faith is huge. If I can lucid dream and I explain the whole thing to you, but you say hogwash, choose not to belive in it. Build and support your belief, you will never lucid dream, It dosen't exist for you, but I belive different, and have experienced, cultivated it, it exists for me.

I have no problem with what people choose to believe or don't choose to believe, but this was a bunch of bull. The one thing I hate most is when non-Christians who don't study the bible and don't speak with pastors try to do things like this. What i'm about to say goes for both Christians and non-Christians...unless you've studied the bible AND been a part of the religion (even talking with pastors), you have NO right to argue for or against Christianity.
matrix86 1 year ago
@matrix86 I study the Bible -- constantly. It was the study of the Bible that led to my Atheism. It sounds to me like you don't know much about the Bible. I suggest you look to scholarly writings on Biblical Historical criticism. You amy want to read Ehrman or Robin Wright or Perhaps Jack Goode. All current and former Christians. What you will find if you study is that the Bible is not what you think it is -- and it was not written by whom you think is was. you sound a little ignorant.
irisheye801 1 year ago
@irisheye801 "I study the Bible -- constantly." Then clearly my comment wasn't directed to you. Even someone like you should have figured that one out. "the Bible is not what you think it is -- and it was not written by whom you think is was." The Bible is merely a guide. It was written by man (not God) and man is flawed. That's why I don't take it literally like Catholics do. I know the history of the Bible. And I know there are dozens of books that weren't included making it incomplete.
matrix86 1 year ago
@irisheye801 I was responding to your statement : "unless you've studied the bible AND been a part of the religion (even talking with pastors), you have NO right to argue for or against Christianity". Being part of the religion is the problem. The Bible is the problem. Maybe not for you. Sounds like you might have the right perspective on it. But for all the others who form beliefs on topics such a same sex marriage, gender equality or racism, the Bible is a terrible weapon.
irisheye801 1 year ago
@matrix86
You're 100 incorrect. If you live in a free society, you have every right to argue for or against something you aren't intimately involved with. I've never experienced abortion or been close to someone who has gone through it, but I certainly can argue FOR it if I so choose. It's a good thing you don't run the world with your broad ultimatums.
rusH1023 1 year ago
@rusH1023 Arguing about abortion is NOTHING like arguing about Christianity. Christianity is SERVERLY complex. There are dozens of denominations (& many of those have denominations) & each one interperets and believes different things & worships in different ways. If you want to say "God isn't real end of story" then fine. But if you're going to start picking it apart you better know what you're getting into. It just doesn't make sense to fight for or against something you know NOTHING about.

It will not be spring in hell.

erichathy222 1 year ago

EchosFromaBlankMind 1 year ago
@EchosFromaBlankMind
EchosFromaBlankMind 1 year ago
@EchosFromaBlankMind

You are demeaning such an intelligent and rare being. and it's disrespectful. so please stop...
drjx93 1 year ago
@drjx93

Nope. Persuasive, evidence-based arguments are capable of that, and have worked in the past in various matters.

Only the ones that come true. The rest I'm sure god has his reasons for ignoring, right? And you have your reasons for forgetting.

"God loves you/"
If a god existed, and if that was true and important, and if this god were omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient, he could and would tell me himself.
The fact that this meaningless declaration necessitates constant proliferation by religion's spin doctors reveals that, in fact, god does not exist.
Harry Potter loves you.

@infideluxe

Stop.
infideluxe 1 year ago
@infideluxe
He loves us.
sherrys6214 1 year ago
@sherrys6214
"that is what is best for us."
What a slave. I feel really sorry for you.

Yes, it seems that it does.
infideluxe 1 year ago
@infideluxe

That's very sad to me, since Jesus Christ doesn't exist.

This is the most obscene and absurd aspect of Christianity. That you can't see this is your own pitfall. It is not only impossible, but the very idea is immoral.

One of the biggest problems with theists is an inability to use "I" statements when talking about their subjective synaptic firings. Your revelations bore. Real life is much more fascinating. You ought to give it a try, and stop pretending to love people you don't know to make yourself feel worthy.

@McTaggStar
Why did you turn athiest?
sherrys6214 1 year ago
@sherrys6214: Excellent question! As I entered higher education, my professors and instructors taught and encouraged me to think critically about issues. In conjunction with this, as I studied science more and more I found that the Judeo-Christian doctrines concerning God seem to be inconsistent with what science is telling us. After a lot of thinking about it, I dismissed the idea of a personal God and took on deism; after some time, I took on agnosticism. For me, it was a slow process.
McTaggStar 1 year ago
@sherrys6214: Finally, I made the "conversion" to atheism because I no longer could believe in a personal God, and I no longer believed any sort of God (theistic or deistic) was necessary to have created to universe and its contents - including me. When one takes some serious time to consider all the factors, weigh all the evidence objectively, instead of presupposing the validity of one side or the other, that person is likely to become an atheist. When looked at objectively, one finds there
McTaggStar 1 year ago
@sherrys6214: aren't any good reasons to believe that a God exists. Our internal sentiments do not constitute a good reason, for what is true of the world is not obliged to conform to our internal sentiments; as well, having been raised in a certain tradition does not constitute a good reason for believing something either. We have the power to think for ourselves - and its a darn shame if we don't use that. Therefore I refuse to believe simply because that is how I was raised.
McTaggStar 1 year ago
@sherrys6214: And finally, some other questions bothered me very badly. Questions like "if God is all powerful, why doesn't he just speak to me and reveal himself to me? Certainly he has the power to do that." Many answer by saying God works in mysterious ways, etc etc. But after a while, I found that to just be a cop-out. Perhaps the most serious charge against the idea of God is that if an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving God existed, human suffering would not.
McTaggStar 1 year ago
@sherrys6214: Religious folk tend to think that human suffering exists because of sin, and sin exists because Eve disobeyed God, or what have you. But again, this doesn't make sense. How do we know Adam and Eve ever really existed? We don't know that. And furthermore, if God is all-powerful AND all-knowing, then God would have already known Eve was going to disobey him. So if he already knew, why would he create her such that she would disobey? It just doesn't add up.
McTaggStar 1 year ago
@sherrys6214: Once again, its a cop-out. To say that suffering exists because of sin and sin exists because of the original sin of Adam and Even is a cop-out. But it doesn't work. If an all powerful, loving, and knowing creator existed, human suffering could not exist.

As are those of my parents, my wife (since I met her), and my child (since she was borne - what cute little footyprints she had!). Through the toughest parts of my life, those are the prints that have been constant. Most of all, my feet remained on the ground the whole time. And I survived it all, stronger for the experience.
